Chapter 97 - Unknown Force

Kai raised an eyebrow at this, as he clearly understood something from just this. It was clear that all the Mage organisations were deeply dissatisfied with the Royal Magic Tower for more than one reason. It was clearly not something which had just formed due to the dispute over the gate, but rather something which had been festering for a long time now.

He was too far away from them to hear what they were saying, but he could make out many things from their expressions and body language.

However, the stalemate rapidly devolved into armed combat as soon as two people from the Bluestone Sect appeared. Kai recognised them as the male and female Rank 0 disciples who had been talking with each other, completely ignoring Robbin.

As soon as they appeared here, the faction containing the various other organisations charged at them. In particular, those from 3 particular organisations which Kai could not recognise charged at the two from the Bluestone Sect with significant fervour.

Since kai could not recognise these organisation's insignias, it could only mean that they were either newly created organisations or were secret organisations. The latter was highly unlikely since the Bluestone Sect had a firm grasp on the information about every organisation within the Hepis Dynasty which have been formed or destroyed for the past 200 years.

This meant that unless such organisations could remain secretive for two centuries, they were newly formed ones. However, this would make it so that they would likely not have any relation with the Bluestone Sect, especially not an antagonistic one, unlike the other organisations which have been suppressed by both the Bluestone Sect and the Hepis Royal Magic Tower.

Kai had naturally gained knowledge about the politics of the Hepis Dynasty, especially the politics related to the mage organisations since it directly affected him.

Nevertheless, Kai did not react at all as the two from the Bluestone Sect were killed, and simply bided his time. After the two were killed and their corpses were plundered, Kai noticed that the 9 individuals with the fiercest expressions had left the faction of the other Mage organisations and instead moved towards the Royal Magic Tower faction, bolstering their numbers.

Almost immediately, the tides had turned. The faction of mage organisations had not only lost one member while trying to get rid of the Bluestone Sect individuals, but also 9 more to the Royal Magic tower faction, who had done nothing but stand in their positions without making a single move.

Now, they had 16 people, while the other faction only had 5.

Immediately, they turned around and began running. After all, it was not impossible for them to gain whatever was here, with so many people from the Royal Magic Tower faction.

Kai ignored them, and was more focussed on something else.

'So these three factions were created by the Royal Magic Tower to suppress the Bluestone Sect, without the Royal Magic tower acting in person?' It was indeed a good plan, except for the fact that the Bluestone Sect had 2 Arch Magi, meaning that if they truly wanted to suppress the Bluestone Sect, they would need at least 3 Arch Magi combined. Only then would this plan work.

However, anything was possible. Especially considering the Royal Magic Tower, so Kai could not rule this possibility out. Form this, it appeared his calm and peaceful life would likely take a turn for the worse.

[Task completed]

At this moment, the system's voice was heard, and Kai changed his attention to what the system had analysed.

[The unknown force is not a new form of energy. It is a combination of Spiritual Energy and Mana, being sent in all directions from a location in the direction of the star in the sky. The pulsing pattern used to perform this is affecting the surrounding Mana, which is altering the spells cast. Such an effect can be countered by either using Spell of Rank 1 or higher, or understanding the pulsing patterns, and changing the spells activation process to match the pulses.]

[Note: Performing the latter will increase the cast time for spells by a factor of 2]

'Change the spells structures to match the pulsing patterns'

[Spells will now take x2 time to cast, but will work normally. This can be reverted at any time to normal. All reserves of Mana have been depleted. Would you like for the calculations for both the latest completed tasks to be entered into your mind directly? Or would you like to read them slowly? Note: It will take 10 minutes for the former to be accomplished due to lacking Mana]

'Send it into my mind whenever you have enough Mana.'

Kai did not mind waiting for some more time, and after 10 minutes, he finally understood everything. In essence, when he activated spells now, he was simply pulsing his Spiritual Energy to match the pulsed of the environment around him.

The spell structures in his Mind Space were not altered one bit, meaning it would not affect him in any way if he reverted it back to normal, since only his Spiritual Energy would be changing.

Kai nodded inwardly as he finally decided to make his move.

After practicing a lot, he knew how to fight group battles against both magi and non-magi, so this battle was extremely easy. The only thing was, that he needed to keep them alive since this group was from the Royal Magic Tower.

Kai had already dealt with those from the three new organisations. However, for these few people, he cut out their eyes and broke their limbs without cutting them off, leaving hope for recovery.

However, he made sure to inflict as much mental pain as he could, all while ensuring none of them had seen his face or heard his voice. This, he should be safe for the time being, since no one knew who had done this.

After dealing with the pests outside the weathered gate, Kai entered.
