Chapter 92 - Rank 0

"Would you like to purchase an entry ticket? Our Flame Squad guarantees its authenticity."

"Take this one, the Frost Troop guarantees that it is real."

Both spoke simultaneously, but Kai immediately picked up on the latter's faction. This was the same faction that had robbed him of 20 Mana crystals to enter the Spell Hall as well as a copy of his Spacial Blade.

Normally, such a group would have chosen to extort a new disciple of the sect. However, now that Ka had learned Rank 0 spells, he had become a Rank 0 Apprentice. He was no longer a newbie to the sect, and could at the very least hold his own.

Furthermore, considering Kai had come here, and was heading straight for the Training Chambers instead of the ticket counter which he had passed a while ago, meant that Kai had enough money.

This meant he either had enough ability or enough backing to earn and keep that money.

Kai grinned at the Frost troop member before ignoring him, and turning his attention to the one from the Flame Squad.

"I will take it. How much?"

"100 Mana crystals for Rank 0. 1000 crystals for Rank 1."

"Rank 0"

Kai waved his hand and willed for 100 Mana crystals to leave his Bluestone Sect ring and appear in a pouch on his hand.

The ring did not escape the notice of the two other Rank 0 disciples, causing their expressions to change drastically. As Rank 0 Apprentices, not only could they distinguish that Kai was also a Rank 0 disciple, but they could also feel a distinct sense of threat coming from him. However, they could more importantly, sense the Rank 2 power from the Spiritual Symbol, and immediately realised he was the direct disciple of a powerful Rank 2 Mage.

The one from the Flame Squad smile gently at Kai as he handed the ticket to him, while the one from the Frost Troop was frustrated with an embarrassed red face. However, he held it in and just left Kai alone. It was not wise to mess with someone whose exact background you did not know.

Kai nodded and left the two alone, uncaring about either of their feelings. After handing in his newly purchased ticket, Kai entered one of the training chambers and tested out his spells.

The first spell he tried was [Fireball]. Just like the description, as soon as Kai used some Spiritual Energy to activate the rune in his mind, it immediately pulsed as mana flowed out of his mental space and into the area in front of his right hand, which he had already extended out in front of him based on the instructions within the spell book.

Within 2 seconds, a tiny spark ignited within the small collection of mana, and a small flame was formed. For the next 2 seconds, more and more mana collected into that specific area, and at the 5th second since activating the rune, the fireball shot out of his hand and flew in a straight line into the grey stone wall in front of him.

Before the fireball that was the size of Kai's palm could hit the wall, runes appeared in front of his and stopped it in its tracks, with the runes only shifting slightly. Along with that, a small screen near the entrance behind Kai displayed a number. Kai turned around and checked the number before smiling contently.

'2'

Just this fireball could almost immediately kill an Inferior knight. The method of this calculation was that a normal Inferior knight had an attack power of 1, and defence of 1. Anything above these numbers would break through their defences, and deal damage based on the higher value. After that, Kai tested out his other spells, the results being tabulated by the system in his mind;

[Fireball] – 2

[Spacial Blade] – 3

[Waterball] – 1

[Stone Spike] – 2

As for [Weakness] and [Blood Burn], Kai activated the former onto the wall before punching it, while activating the second on himself and punching the wall, giving two distinctly different results;

[Weakness] – 0.4

[Blood Burn] – 2

As for the last spell, Kai did not test it out, since it would not affect the wall or his attacking power in any way. It would only heal some of his light wounds and recover his stamina.

[Healing spring] - 0

It was only now that Kai stopped for some time, and waited. It took about 2 hours before each of his spells had recovered enough mana to be used once.

Each rune within his mental space absorbed mana from the surroundings and collected it, with his Blood-related spells being about 1.25 times faster than the rest, most likely due to his talent level in that affinity.

After everything was ready, Kai began testing out combinations of spells one by one. He spent the rest of the day repeating the process; using spells in various combinations of twos and threes, before waiting 2 hours to recover mana to cast the spells again.

However, he had not been through all possibilities. Although the system could simulate these possibilities, Kai wanted to test them out himself, since he had both the time and money to spend. The system's simulations would be more and more accurate the more experiments he conducted in reality, which meant that they were not 100% accurate.

Instead, doing them physically was the best course of action given how much time he currently had.
