Kai saw the child viciously use the claws made out of the same green substance found inside the father's body, to rapidly stab the mother's dead body, while scooping up handfuls of flesh and devouring it like a vile creature.
"Ha… Ha-Ha! Ha-ha! Ha-ha ha-ha ha-ha!"
Kai stared off into the distance as his maniacal chuckle reverberated not just throughout the house, but also throughout the outside, as the door was still left open. It was rather obvious what would happen now; more and more green sludge abominations would arrive here upon hearing Kai's laughter.
The person in question however did not care about anything at this point in time. His blank yet pained expression rapidly turned into a grin as he wielded both daggers and dispatched the child before running out of the house.
The sight in front of him was a whole horde of around 50 humans of varying ages, but each one of them had green nails on them, and more were coming out of the houses by the second.
Kai's grin on the other hand did not vanish as he charged at the enemies.
Ducking, he dodged at attack coming at his face, but he immediately stabbed upwards, through the creature's chin and out the top of the head. Using his other dagger, Kai deflected at attack to hit the first creature's chest, sending the now-dead creature flying.
This also freed his dagger and he moved it to kill another one.
His battle style was extremely chaotic with almost no patterns or repetitive movements as he easily moved through the ever-growing crowd of enemies, sending them to their deaths with rapid succession.
When he was about to be surrounded, he used the Five Elephant Palm to kill a few creatures in one attack and create a gap for him to escape the encirclement. Considering these creatures were not in their right minds as they attacked Kai, just like Victoria the huntress had been enraged and charged at him like a wild beast, so did these creatures.
After about 10 minutes, he finally succeeded in eliminating all the creatures in town, other than the village chief. He was the source of everything after all, and without cutting off the cause of the problems, such issues would likely rise up in other neighbouring villages.
Although his mission was to investigate, which he had already done, Kai was not in the mood to think about benefits right now. All he wanted to do was to kill. He wanted to desperately kill the village chief; the cause of everything.
Without wasting any more time, Kai immediately headed for the chief's house, not realising that his body was covered in countless small wounds, slowly leaking varying amounts of blood, soaking into his cloak provided by the Bluestone Sect.
…
Meanwhile, outside the rotten tree, Victor gasped for air as he had finally crawled out of his makeshift prison.
'Thankfully the kid did not know I knew [Healing Spring], else he would have cut off my tongue as well…' Victor shivered as he remembered the cold yet murderous expression on Kai's face, followed closely by the chillingly sadistic grin which appeared a moment later.
However, now he was relatively safe. The Healing Spring was a spell he had somehow managed to steal from the Village Chief's personal collection in the underground location. He had managed to read through it just before he was caught by the chief and his lackeys, and disposed of quickly.
With this spell being his only remaining chance of survival as his tendons were cut, preventing him from moving a muscle and were thrown into the forest to become the feast of the wild creatures, Victor spent the next hours recalling the words in the book and somehow managed to inscribe it roughly in his mind.
Immediately the spell rune in his mind began collecting mana, and within just 10 minutes he was able to cast it. Immediately, Victor cast it on one of the tendons on his feet, and for the next 2 hours, he healed the different cut parts of his legs before he slowly got to his feet and began running.
While running, he also spent the time to heal his other wounds and in a few days he was back to full health other than the fact that he was starving.
Thankfully, he had been a hunter back at the village and was able to survive off the land, slowly finding a bow and arrows, and successfully hunting deer for food.
With his immediate survival out of the way, he next began to think about revenge. He had accidentally found the chief's secret underground base while he was exploring the forest and had noticed a dead tree.
Looking inside, he found that a tunnel was there, and finally found himself at the treasury of the chief. There, not only had he discovered the magic book, but he also discovered a tiny crystal of some sort.
When he was captured, and they were searching his body for items he had stolen, he did not know what to do and swallowed the crystal.
A few days later when he had fully recovered and had his fill of food, the crystal came out naturally in his faeces.
With time on his hands to inspect it every night, Victor noticed what its use was when he threw in some of his healing mana into it.

Without thinking too much, he told the voice in his head about the issue of missing children, and it accepted the answer, saying someone will be there to resolve it.
'Wait… could that brat be the one sent by the voice in my head?' Victor mused as he recalled the harrowing truth about the missing children he had later learned.
