"Th... The prophecy. It's really raining ice", she said looking up with her hands stretched out as some of the ice landed on her palms. Then she looked behind and realized the ice was only falling on her and in front of her like it was creating a trail. 'Does it want me to follow?", she wondered...
She started following the ice trail as it fell from the sky through alleys and across roads. Then suddenly stopped. She hears grunts and screams from the next alley and she rushed over to see what it was. She unsheathed her sword and took a peek into the alley where she heard the screams with her back on the wall.
"*Gasp*The blue eyed panther" she whispered with her mouth opened slightly in surprise. She watched as the blue eyed blond stranger bashed and tore apart what seems to be thugs. Their were two other guys on the floor and one of them was taping the whole fight. Then as soon as the blond stranger reaped out the heart of the last thug, he fell to the ground as the other two guys rushed over to him. They seemed pretty drunk.
Then suddenly she had this feeling. She felt like she had known this stranger for a long time. She was about coming out of her hiding place to question the two guys when three shadows appeared from the darkness behind her.
"We've been searching for you Anqa, we thought that monster got you", mist, one of the assassins spoke. Anqa heaved a sigh of relief when she saw it was her comrades then turned to look back at the alley where the fight held but the two guys and the blond stranger was gone.
"What happened here?", One of the assassins asked looking at the blood smeared alley.
"You three are the only survivors?" Anqa asked turning back at them.
"Yeah, we checked the sewer too. What should we do now?", Mist asked.
"Contact Ra's, I think we are getting another mission. I think I've located the blue eyed panther", she said walking into the bloody alleyway. While the three stood Wondering if she meant what she said.
One of them pulled out a holoprojector disk and placed it on the floor before him and a hologram of Ra's appeared.
"Status report", Ra's spoke as they all bowed.
"Ra's, we are the last survivors including lady Anqa, the beast tore through everyone else. We couldn't take it. We are awaiting further orders", venom,one of the remaining assassins spoke, his head still bowed.
"Where is Anqa?", Ra's growled looking furious now.
"I'm right here 'ab", she said as she walked back in front of the hologram and bowed.
"You failed me?!", Ra's asked now fuming.
"The beast was really uncontrollable 'ab, as if it was after us or me in particular. It chased after me when we scattered. I only managed to evade it. I'm sorry I failed you Ra's", she spoke still bowing.
"Excuses is for the weak. Do not fail me again", he spoke with finality in his voice.
"I feel there's more you are not telling me", he added.
"Well 'ab, I am not certain but I could swear I heard the beast roar a word or a name 'ignis' before it came after me, I do not know what it meant", she replied.
"Hmm ignis? That is latin for fire. Was he calling out to the Phoenix? This gets confusing. We'll deal with it once you are back at Eth Alth'eban. This mission is over. Report back ASAP", he said as he turned his back on them. She knew he was disappointed.
"Wait Ra's, there's something else", she said as Ra's turned his face back halfway with a grunt.
"And what might that be?", He grunted.
"After I evaded the beast and hid in an alleyway, it started raining ice", she said as Ra's turned around slowly now looking interested.
"You joke at a time like this child?", He said looking at her with contempt. The other assassins were looking at her surprise also.
"There's more 'ab, it seemed the rain of ice made a trail and I followed. It lead me to this very alleyway where I witnessed the blue eyed panther making a bloody mess of some street thugs but then collapsed later on. It seemed like he was overwhelmed by his own power", she explained as Ra's now paced to and fro in a confused state.
"The prophecy, it's all happening in one night but who is the Phoenix?", He asked rhetorically. ' unless ', he thought as he stopped pacing and looked up at Anqa.
"Locate the blue eyed panther and bring him in alive, this is your new mission", he ordered as they all bowed.
"Do not fail me again Banati", he added as the hologram disappeared.
"Was it really the blue eyed panther?", Mist wondered aloud as they all stared into the bloody alleyway.
That night, they tracked down the blond stranger who they now know his name to be Aaron Johnson. They camped outside his house in a black van till the next day. After some time he came out, entered his green Lamborghini and drove off. They slowly followed him till he stopped in front of another house and got off. They turned into another street to avoid suspicion.
"That must be one of his friend's home", Anqa said," we'll get him tonight when he goes back home", she added.
"So I should drive us back to his home?", Edge, one of the last assassins who was driving them asked.
"Yes, we shall lie in wait there till nightfall", she said as edge drove them back and packed across the street from his house.
They waited. Night came but he was not yet back.
"Perhaps he went somewhere else or Maybe stayed overnight", mist suggested as they grew impatient.
Right before midnight, he drove in and went straight inside his house looking grim.
"Should we get him now?", Mist asked picking up his gun.
"No wait", venom whispered pointing out to a black car pulling up in front of the house. Two hefty men in Black suits came out fully armed as they went and stood by the door.
"What is the meaning of this? Where we spotted earlier?", Anqa asked confused.
"I ran a profile on them, they seem to work for Mr. Johnson who supposedly owns security companies all over the states. He is Aaron Johnson's father", venom said clicking on his keyboard as the image of Mr. Johnson appears on the monitor.
"We can take them", mist said as he stood with his gun.
"Patience mist, there might be more of them in hiding. We can't act recklessly. Edge, drive us out. We'll sweep the area from the shadows and attack in the morning", Anqa ordered as edge drove out of the street silently with his headlights off. He drove further down the next street and stopped.
"Mist, you are with me, we'll sweep forward. Venom will be our eyes. Edge, stay agile as we might need a quick getaway", she ordered. They both got of the van. Mist took a sword instead of a gun since it was going to be stealthy. They became one with the shadows as they moved quickly across buildings back towards the street.
'i was right', Anqa thought as she slit the throat of a sniper who perched on top of a roof near the house.
"It's an ambush, thread carefully", she whispered into her wrist.
"Roger that", mist whispered back. They kept moving forward, stabbing and slashing silently in the dark till they got all of them. Daylight was already creeping in.
They perched on a rooftop opposite the house as they waited for the right time to attack the two remaining security since it was daytime already and they can't do it discreetly anymore.
Soon, they saw one of Aaron Johnson's friends who they identified as Bran Wilson pull over in front of the house. The men in Black wouldn't let him in. They watched as he argued with them then brought out his phone and made a call. Soon after, their target came out and walked in with the guest.
"We have to attack now to avoid complications", mist suggested looking at Anqa.
"Very well then", she said,"let's do this edge", she spoke into her wrist.
"Roger that", edge replied from the other end. He started the van and drove towards the building at top speed as venom geared up. He made a screeching stop in front of the building while venom jumped out and started shooting. The two security men took cover immediately and started shooting back. Edge got down and joined the deafening exchange.
"I'm going in", mist spoke as he quickly jumped down the building and into the crossfire. Edge threw a gun towards him. He caught it and started firing. He shot one straight in the head.
"Where's our backup!!!!", The other security man screamed out. He was out of bullet and turned to run but edge got a clear shot and shot him at the back of his head as he fell to the ground with a thud.
"Move in!!", Mist called out as he gestured towards the door. Venom kicked the door open and they went in.
Immediately, mist saw someone running across past the kitchen and he shot without thinking, the impact sending the stranger into the kitchen, out of sight....
