Stepping out from the bushes, Clarisse’s lips pressed together into a thin line as she squinted at the figure in front of her. The skies were slowly turning bright above them, and although the sun wasn’t up yet, Clarisse could see Jerry clearly. Now that she was looking straight at him, Clarisse noted that the wrinkles on his face had disappeared, and he looked much younger now, so much like they were actually of the same age!
“Jerry?” she whispered in disbelief, “Is that you?”
“It’s actually Calix,” Jerry replied with a smug chuckle. “I think it should be about time you knew.”
‘Calix? Haven’t I heard of that name before?’
Clarisse took a step back before realization finally hit her. He was Calix, the Vampire King of the Western Kingdom. Known for his illusions and ability to trick all five senses, he was long rumored to be dead from an unknown disease.
