Shannon’s face turned into panic as she saw Lowell’s grey eyes looking back at her sharply. Not only did he probably already overheard her conversation over the phone, Lowell himself was recording her! For a moment, Shannon was at a loss on what to do.
“Stay right where you are,” Lowell growled. “Who are you calling?”
As far as what Lowell have heard, it seemed that Shannon was reporting to someone about the plan Clary and the Crown Prince had brought up to Declan an hour ago. Could it be that Clary’s note was true and Shannon was a danger to them? Lowell could only hope that wasn’t the case.
Shannon put down the call, and with one hand, destroyed the smartphone as she crushed it with her bare hands. Lowell didn’t think she had the strength to do such a thing, as she’d always presented herself as weak and in need of constant protection. Clarisse’s warning was right after all – Shannon cannot be trusted.
