Surprisingly, the kiss didn’t deepen. Just as soon as Luke realized it, he pulled himself together and backed away. Clarisse on the other hand, was flushed from her temple to her neck.

“I’m sorry. Good night, Luna Clarisse,” Luke said, then basically ran down and out of her sight.
Clarisse was stunned for a good minute, standing in front of her room, staring at the stairs where Luke disappeared in a blink of an eye. She touched her lips, remembering the raw softness of his lips linger. Why did he kiss her all of a sudden?
‘Does he like me?’ she wondered. ‘No, that can’t be it.’
Getting a hold of herself, Clarisse turned and went into her room. Undressing, she took herself to the bathroom and drew herself some water. She needed to submerge herself and soak in the details of what just happened.
