Chereads / Crimson Red… / Chapter 9 - Cp.8

Chapter 9 - Cp.8

The bowling alley was empty when we entered. Confused as to why we were the only four present, Greg jogged his way to us. "I reserved the alley just for us."

I stood in bewilderment. "Can you guys do that?"

"Sure we can," Owen smirked. "This is our property."

"Enough with the bragging already, let's get this party started!" Greg immediately switched on the machines, grasping his fingers onto a bowling ball and threw it. Five pins were knocked out!

"Impressive." I clapped.

Weirdly stretching, Greg only grinned at me. "Oh please, that was just a warm up."

Liam Payne's Stack it up featuring A Boogie Wit da Hoodie echoed throughout the entire room while Greg, Owen, Reed and I were playing an one on one game.

Taking a break, I went over to the bar where Owen had been pouring himself a shot of tequila. "What would you like to drink?"

"It's okay. I'll manage it myself."

"No can do, I'm the host tonight."

"Fine." I said, almost embarrassed. "Just water on ice, please."

In a quick second, I was handed my beverage. "The extra touch of sliced lemon was all because you said the word, 'please'."

"Are you being sarcastic?" I chuckled.

Owen pursed his lips, deciding on what to say. "Nope, but maybe a tad bit disappointed. See, I was really looking forward to witnessing a drunk version of you or basically any flaw that you might have."

"And why is that?"

"I'm secretly trying to figure out what made Reed take an interest in you."

"We're friends." I shrugged. We weren't dating.

"You reek of him, and my only guess to that is you guys are basically fuck buddies."

My hands tightened around the glass, aching to give him a slap or more so, a punch. "I won't explain myself to you, so keep your investigation thoughts to yourself."

"Whatever you want from him, he already knows."

"Well, I shouldn't waste a minute then. He's very entertaining."

I strode off, moving my hips side to side before I sat on the couch, sucking on the lemon to let out my frustration. How dare he insinuate that I was his personal whore?!

"I won!" Greg exclaimed, briefly spinning me. I swatted his arm, slightly dizzy, but chuckling either way.

Reed playfully rolled his eyes. "Sore winner."

Almost close to being midnight, we headed back to Reed's apartment and immediately slept in each others arms. Spending the entire morning together, when the clock had hit 12:00 p.m, I took an uber and headed for the library after changing clothes.

Dressed into a white sweat top, denim jumpsuit and white takkies, I styled my hair into fish plates, covering my head with a white binnie. Droplets of rain fell onto the wet floor as got out the dorm, my backpack slung on my shoulder.

My see through umbrella led me to the library, black rimmed glasses slipped on my face while being indoor to avoid wet contact from the outside. I looked around for the gang, spotting them near the windows.

"Hey you."

Showered with hugs, our group studying was at a go. We were seated in a rectangular table, often switching positions to not sit still. It was only at 18:00 p.m when Lola announced that she was hungry.

Grabbing takeaways from MacDonalds, we slowly walked back to campus, often goofing around and taking pictures while lying on the street.

Spotting a nearby supermarket, we went in to grab a few snacks. Deciding to split into two groups, the guys went their and we went ours. I was grabbing Dorrito's while seated in a trolley when BLACKPINK's and Selena Gomez's Ice cream played throughout the entire store.

"It was way too easy in finding you guys after being drawn to so much noise!" Michael hissed, massaging his ears in agony.

Sam scoffed. "Oh please, like you haven't done worse when we had karaoke night."

Immediately Holden's hand covered Sam's mouth. "I thought we all vowed to never speak of that night again."

"What's there to hide?" Jade shrugged. "You guys simply suck at singing."

Lola and I giggled, earing glares from Logan and Styles.

Michael pouted. "Kait doesn't know that."

Hair playfully ruffled by his twin brother, Mathew smirked. "Now she does."

Back at the dorms, Taylor had brought up the topic about Reed. "So, you never told me how it went with West on Friday." Instantly blushing when remembering the tomato festival, the beautiful sunset at the beach and us cuddling in his apartment, I grinned.

"It was an unique experience. Definitely surreal."

Though, my grin had unexpectedly turned into a frown and Taylor soon noticed. "Did I miss something because you look kinda bothered by something."

Rolling my eyes in annoyance, I sighed. "Or someone. Does the name, Owen Copper ring a bell to you?"

Her eyes lit up in excitement. "I'll take that as a yes." I mumbled.

"I was wondering when you would meet him."

Encouraging her to furthermore explain, Taylor summarised everything about them.

"Greg, Owen and Reed have been individually known around campus before they even came to study here. All from wealthy families, it was considered as a coincidence that they would become friends with Greg in third year, Owen in second after having skipped the third grade and Reed in second year as well. All three with different personalities, but yet so similar.

Greg only talks with people who intrigue him. Reed is no talker, and hates being stared at. Owen is a quiet observer who doesn't like being wrong."

"That explains a lot of things actually." Taking a stroll around our room, I blurred out my suspicions.

"I met Owen at a small dinner in the food court. He bought me a milkshake after noticing that I had been staring at it through the menu. Finally accepting the beverage from previous rejections, we were making small talk. He, of course was stunned by the fact that I didn't know him. Reed came over and they did their bro hug, then introduced me as his girl. Owen didn't believe that Reed had brought me to their 'spot' and later became rude to me, assuming that I was Reed's fuckbuddy. He wasn't even being coy about it."

"This can only mean one thing."

"What, that he hates me?"

"No babe, chill." Now seated on her bed, Taylor had lay back.

"He's clearly intimidated by you, think about it. Reed doesn't hook up with just anybody. Guys like Owen Copper are afraid that you're going to barge into their fully booked lives and mess up everyone's schedule, leaving a huge dump left for only him to clean."

1 week later...

I had just finished doing my homework when my phone buzzed from an incoming message.

Meet me at Starbucks coffee café. 12:00 p.m. ~O.C

Unknown number. Feeling a bit to curious about the person being Owen Copper, I decided to go as soon as our professor dismissed us for the day.

I wore a white with a few black patterns shirt that had two buttons unbuttoned. It was covered by a grey woolen cardigan and my black backpack was slung on one shoulder. Opting for black jeans and white takkies due to the cold weather, my hair was plated into two rows at the front and had two mini balled up tails and the rest was curled down my back and shoulders.

Entering the small, but comfy off campus café, I searched for Owen's face, spotting him in the back row close to one of the electric heaters.

He stared up after sensing my presence. Motioning me to sit down, I stared at the wooden chair that had a pillow to sit on, hesitation on my mind before deciding to get this unexpected meeting over with.

Now situated across him, Owen took his time scrutinising the attire I wore then cleared his throat. Signalling for a waiter to come, I ordered a gingerbread latte while he frowned for a second before replying same.

Blowing warm air into my hands, he only glanced at what I was doing after taking a sip from his latte.

"Why did you insist on me coming here?" I demanded, breaking the tension between us two.

Pursing his lips in annoyance, Owen rolled his eyes. "Persistent, aren't we?"

I almost that the guts to throw my beverage at his cream turtle neck, black jean jacket and cheque pants, but bit my tongue from doing so.

Leaning towards me, his elbows rested on the table. "The question you should be asking yourself, is why are you such a vulgar parasite who insists on sucking her way into Reed's life, when we both know that he doesn't need you in it?"

I crossed my arms in defence. "I'm not one bit offended by your choice of words, blonde-ends."

Naturally touching his new trimmed short brunette hair with blonde highlights in response, he ran his fingers through it while snickering.

"You catch on real quick, for a whore."

Gripping his stubbled face with my nails, my face inched closer to his own relaxed one, so calm you would think this kind of thing happened to him on a regular basis.

"I'm guessing no one has ever called you out for your crappy behaviour, pretty boy. I suggest you get this through your thick skull that whatever me and Reed have is non of your goddamn business, so don't bother wasting your time thinking that you can threaten me. You know nothing about me."

I released him, standing up after leaving 20 dollars on the table. "Erase my number from who knows where you got it. This is the first and last time we will ever meet up. Now will you please excuse me, some of us have to go to class."

My feet took me to the nearest door, escaping from a man I wanted nothing to do with.

Headed for economics class, I spent the rest of my day studying. In my pyjamas, I received a message from both Greg and Reed.

Saw the tension between you and Coop last weekend. Gave him your number to clear up the bad blood. ~Greg

You've been awfully quiet, I miss you. ~Reed

Groaning in disbelief, I couldn't believe that this was happening to me. And the first semester hadn't even ended yet. Quickly recovering from sulking, I replied to them.

I'm hoping that Reed didn't notice. Okay, I guess... ~Lynn

Sorry, been doing some early due assignments and ahead note writing. I miss you more btw. *winks* ~Lynn

So dedicated. I like that about you. ~Reed

Stoooop it!! You're making me blush over here. ~Lynn

Ncohh, my baby's flushed. ~Reed

Your sweet talking is making me unable to sleep. Please let me... *begges* ~Lynn

Fine... but on one one condition. Let me see you on Friday. ~Reed

Okwey, deal. *smile widdens* ~Lynn

Until then. ~Reed

Good night, Reed West. ~Lynn
