Chapter 7 - Their First College Exams

The following day, which was a Sunday, Hyacinth and her roommates had all woken up after two. For people who had no clue about alcohol or how it worked, the bottle hit them hard, they were surprised themselves that they could sleep for that long. Throughout the day the dormitory was buzzing with talks about the party the previous day, of course, the party was not an excuse to slack off.

Those who had classes the next day left the sea of people to prepare for their classes. The classes continued and most of the students were focused, of course, there were a few cases where male and female students were seen together, it was a normal occurrence in college, for students to date each other.

Days turned weeks and the girls had developed a bad habit, of late-night talks. They were very much aware that it would cut their sleeping time, in turn making them grumpy after waking up the following day. Regardless, the girls carried on anyways, of course, Audrey was shy at first to talk about her day and gossip but like the girls predicted she slowly came to like it.

When the semester was getting tougher and the girls couldn't continue with their late-night talks, their late-night conversations soon became a group study. The tests soon came and the girls made sure to study hard and read wide, of course, their efforts didn't go in vain and they aced the tests, it only meant that they were one step closer to their college exams.

One day after they were coming back from lectures, Hyacinth said, "guys I am so tired of this cycle!" She exclaimed in frustration," what cycle?" Audrey asked," you know, wake up, prepare for classes, rush to have breakfast, and then we rush to classes, we don't have a fixed time for lunch, we don't have a fixed time for lunch!!" Hyacinth repeated, as expected of the foodie in the group.

"So, what do you suggest we do in the situation?" Nelly asked," how about we go somewhere like the beach on one of the days we don't have lectures?" Hyacinth replied as she looked at the other girls with excitement." I'm in" Pat said, " yeah, like we don't know who you are going there to gawk at" Nelly said, "well the guys are cute, shirtless and everything, hey, you can't blame me!!" Pat said already offended. "Alright Pat, we heard you, I'm in," Nelly said.

All the girls already agreed except Audrey, so the girls looked at her in hopes of a positive answer, "how could I possibly refuse when I know you'll drag me right in" Audrey said before the girls squealed in excitement.

"Okay.." Nelly said to grab the girls' attention, "the problem we have now is where and when are we going?" Nelly asked, "well we could go to a fine restaurant and have a fine evening out" Audrey suggested which the girls agreed to. "So now that the place is fixed, when are we going, remember it has to be weeks before the exam starts?!" Hyacinth asked. "We have a lecture-free day next week, should we use that time?" Pat suggested, "we definitely should"," of course"," yeah" the girls replied in unison.

The girls day out was not an excuse to abandon their students' life, of course, they went to classes and observed their nightly routine. The girls prepared for their day out and the evening it was to take place, the girls looked marvelous. They didn't wear anything too much, it was just casual enough for dinner, they all wore boyfriend jeans paired either with heels or sneakers.

They turned heads and even caused some people to look twice as they headed to their favorite restaurant outside the campus. Pat as usual gawked at usual at handsome guys, seniors included, while they were having dinner, a handsomely dressed young man came over to their table and asked to sit with them, of course, he was ushered by the girls. He sat beside Hyacinth, now, the others were sure that their beautiful Hyacinth had caught his eye.

"Thank you for allowing me to sit with you guys," the guy said as he shook hands with all of them. "I'm David" he continued looking at the girls waiting for them to reply. "Ohh, I'm Nelly, she's Patricia, that's Audrey, and you are sitting beside Hyacinth'' Nelly said as she introduced the girls.

He introduced himself before they started conversing," are you also from the University?" Patricia asked," yes I am, from the faculty of science," David said before Audrey added," the school is so big, you don't know everybody in the school". The conversation ensued and Hyacinth was surprisingly quiet, this was because her sixth sense told her the guy was interested in her.

It wasn't a lie though, Hyacinth had caught his eye and he sat at her table in hopes to get her contact info, in the vast university, he knew there were chances he might not see her again. He accompanied the girls till they were done with dinner and till they went back to their dorm, two things came out of his actions, the first was that he knew their dormitory and the second was he couldn't get Hyacinth's contact info.

The few weeks before the exam was nerve-wracking for all the students of all the departments. Regardless, it wasn't a hindrance to David, on one occasion when Hyacinth came out to shop, David who had picked the strange hobby of passing the girls dorm to his lecture room came across Hyacinth. He was already late so he was in a rush, however, the tactic seemed to work as Hyacinth was open to giving him her phone to save his number out of panic.

He ran in the opposite direction as he knew he was very late for the class, he hoped Hyacinth would contact him. The college exams caused the girls to be nervous, it was to be held for a whole week, even at that, the girls who had studied hard wrote their exams to the best of their abilities.

Soon, the results came out and the girls scored beautiful points, they got one of the highest marks, and because of this, their names were among the top ten students in their department. Then another waited event soon came where most students would go back home, SUMMER BREAK.
