"Hey, are you okay?" Bohai asked later that night as he and Xiaosi made their way back to their house. Xiaosi was walking with his head down, a deep frown on his face.
"I'm just… So mad," Xiaosi said, looking up at him. "That was the biggest shit show in the world. I have never imagined my wedding to be that way. And that's how it turned out? There was nothing professional about that wedding. That man ruined everything."
"Babe, he wasn't trying to ruin anything," Bohai said softly, putting his hand on his arm. "He was just really excited. Just think about it, you're his oldest son. And after many years of not being able to see you, here he is. He was able to officiate your wedding, and it's the most special thing in the world to him."
"Maybe he shouldn't have left…" Xiaosi said.
"You know that's not what happened," Bohai told him, shaking his head. "Xiaosi, you need to give him a chance. He's here. And he's trying to be a good father. Let him in."
