Chapter 5 - Becoming A Cultivator

Lars was stunned at the change.

Transcendent Grade Bloodline Essence Qi? There was actually beast bloodline essence above ancient grade? Is it even real?

In Martial Continent, the cultivation levels were separated into Foundation Building and Qi Spirit realm while under foundation building were gene forging and dantian origin phase, also known as gene establishment and dantian establishment.

Strengthening the innate human genes would improve physical constitution and, as the main category implied, leave a foundation layer as the cornerstone to break through to higher realms.

Beast bloodline essence qi played an important role in setting up the foundation. This was because while anyone could step into Gene forging realm, the foundational strengths and future accomplishments as well as the strengthening effects of different people would differ greatly based on the type of gene forging serum used for strengthening.

Beasts had different bloodlines, and the bloodline essence of those with stronger bloodlines would have better strengthening effects.

The essence of spirit beasts with common essence qi was far inferior and had mediocre strengthening effects. This was due to their bloodlines being so thin that the essence they could generate was feeble and highly ineffective.

The vast majority of cultivators used gene serums of such quality. After which, there were gene serums with Elementary blood essences, primitive blood essences, primeval essences, and Ancient essence.

These essences were further split into different grades.

The higher the quality of the essence qi used, the better the benefits gained. Such benefits included better strengthening effects, increase in combat strength, natural senses, higher degree of resistance to certain elements as well as an increased probability of success when breaking through to higher realms.

It could be said that gene forging was the platform to determine one's future. It would roughly decide if you would become a genius carp leaping through the dragon's gate to become a dragon among men or common trash swept along with everyone else.

Ancient grade bloodline essence was considered the very cream of the crop. The majority of the masses didn't even know such a form of essence existed.

So to actually acquire an essence of even higher quality, Lars was thoroughly speechless. Nevertheless, it was expected after the use of Soul energy.

Didn't that mean that his starting point was dozens of times higher than anyone else? Thinking up to here, he was overjoyed.

But still, even an essence of such quality didn't affect him much. Wasn't his physique really too freakish?

"The Outlands are considered the very edges of the Martial continent. The power of the clans and tribes are ridiculously low, and the resources are even lower in comparison to the rest of the continent". Lars thought.

To see a spirit beast with high-grade primitive bloodline essence would cause wars to be fought and blood spilled. Even the top cultivators who had already established their foundations wouldn't shy away from going all out.

"How did a Seventh level spirit beast with an ancient bloodline actually appear in this backward region?"

Musing in his mind, he found it difficult to process. In the end, he could only chalk it up to luck. After all, his 94 points of Providence had reduced to 89 which led him to discover it. This was very reasonable.

Back to business. Looking at the log change, his cultivation had increased from a mortal to a mortal who had completed Gene forging.

The progression of gene forging was calculated in percentages, and his gene forging was already at a hundred percent. Such instantaneous speed was absolutely horrifying.

For those with lower refinement degrees, it could take anything from weeks to months to years to refine one's genes.

The next step was to establish his dantian.

Dantian Origin Phase was a complex process that needed one to have their bodies resonate with the natural energy of heaven and Earth, the metaphysical energy known as Mana Qi.

Cultivators would draw in this natural energy through their meridians and use it to shapen the lower abdominal area. Directing the energy in a coordinated and well-ordered manner, the dantian would then take shape under the persistent efforts of the cultivator and would be ready to integrate the energy into itself.

Thereby giving the dantian the ability to store Mana Qi. However, the actual process was much more difficult and challenging than it sounded.

First, the meridians needed to be awakened and the forming of the dantian was to be done under absolute care. A dantian formed was a cultivators future and required strict control of metaphysical energy.

Any slight complications such as Mana deviation above a certain level could risk permanent crippling of the dantian. Such a predicament was akin to severing off the road to greater heights.

A certain level of natural affinity to Mana Qi was required. This was one of the factors that judged a cultivators' talent.

With his feet crossed, Lars mind had immersed himself into his inner body. The air surrounding him changed its natural flow and the heaven and Earth energy surged towards his body in a frantic manner as he began to absorb the Mana Qi in his surroundings.

As he immersed himself in his consciousness, all the Mana in a kilometer's radius surged towards the old mansion, causing a massive whirlpool to appear over the building.

Lars, feeling the surging energy couldn't help but smile. His absorption speed was terrifying to say the least.

A regular person with below-average talent would spend anytime from 24 hours to several days to be able to feel the heaven and Earth energy. Geniuses would be able to sense theirs within one or two days, while those monstrous prodigies would take a few hours, the time differing due to different innate Talents.

This was all on the account that they had opened their meridians.

Lars himself, despite being a mortal, had already opened his meridians years ago. An average mortal without undergoing gene forging would never be able to handle opening meridians.

They would be unable to resist the pain in doing so forcibly and their bodies would explode at worst while their meridians would be ruptured at best, leaving them permanently disabled.

With his abnormal human physique, Lars didn't need to worry about such matters. So, his guardians had assisted him in opening up his meridians at the age of ten.

Controlling the speed of the swirling Mana Qi, he sent it through his meridians and circulated it through different body channels before centering it at his lower abdomen.

The thick Mana Qi surged, and a small windstorm kicked up within his stomach. Lars was unaffected and carried on with the instructions his guardians had left for him in establishing his dantian.

In a little over ten minutes, Lars had already formed the 'Mana whirlpool boundary'. This statement referred to perfect control of even the Mana Qi within the lower abdomen in a certain area. There were no occasional leaks or overstretching of the boundary line.

Lars was pleased.

Unlike youths his age, Lars hadn't cultivated throughout the twenty years and three months of his life. Such a situation would have put him far behind his peers of the same generation, making it difficult to catch up unless special methods were used.

While he was a mortal, others had already stepped into Gene refining, Dantian Origin Phase and the more monstrous ones into Qi Spirit realm. In the normal cliché plot routine, he would have been labeled as trash, mocked, despised, looked down on and ridiculed by both those older and younger than him.

This was something that Tian Long had personally experienced. After all, in the cultivation world where strength reigned supreme, how could a no name mortal survive.

Only those with either pitifully weak body constitution or were too poor to fund their cultivation with gene serums would still remain mortals.

This world was so cruel that the weak were practically asking for death without having to actually do anything.

However, that wasn't the case for him. When his guardians tested him, his innate talent was so monstrous that they didn't even know what to say.

The only words to describe it were 'shocked to speechless stupor'.

This was the only reason why they could allow him to stay for years without cultivating, when there were geniuses who had been cultivating since they were seven-year olds.

However, the Blood essence Qi used by those geniuses weren't to Lars liking. Better yet, it would be more accurate to say that his guardians despised them.

With his monstrous innate talent, why should he rush and refine his genes with Elementary and Primitive blood essences?

Primeval grade bloodline essence should be the lowest possible choice, no?

Plus, besides them, there was no one else in the exiled region, so who would make fun of him?

However, it truly was too difficult to find quality bloodline essence in the Outlands, especially in a place like the exiled region. His guardians had constantly fed him with the rare treasures, spirit beast blood and meat that they could find in attempts to nourish his remarkable physique.

Over thousands of spirit beasts were slain, and yet, they had barely found a few with high grade elementary and low-grade primitive bloodline essence.

One of his guardians known as 'Dozen blades Yufang' had even risked leaving the exiled region three years ago to search for beast essence above the Primitive grade.

Since he left the exiled region about a year ago, Lars didn't know if he had returned until this day.

Still, that didn't mean that he had spent the past few years doing nothing but lazing around. After fifteen years of non-stop training, Lars Mana control had reached an outrageous level.

Due to the harsh environment in the exiled region, his guardians had taught him to extract, refine and control mana to it's very limits.

Growing up under such environment and intense supervision, Lars Mana control had far surpassed peers of the same age.

He had even surpassed his guardians as well in this aspect. More and more Mana Qi was absorbed into his meridians and filled up his abdomen.

A terrifying Mana storm gushed within as he took actions to suppress and compress the energy. Under his meticulous control, the Mana Qi was compressed time and time again, constantly collapsing and reforming itself chaotically.

The constant loop which would be referred to by anyone else as absolute madness, recklessness, and total disregard for one's life and future continued for more than an hour until the energy was finally stabilized.

The process of forging the dantian which would take some years or an entire lifetime only to ultimately fail due to the strict requirements of energy control, innate talent, natural energy affinity and fear of the dire consequences of failure had been completed in less than two hours.

There were no shortage of mortals, fifty years and above, who still hadn't completed Gene forging, while there were many more who died establishing their dantian.

The outrage that would be caused if this were to be discovered would throw the Outlands into chaos.

Inspecting his lower abdomen, Lars nodded upon seeing the solidified Mana whirlpool that had already taken shape to resemble what looked like a giant enclosed sphere.

The sphere was gigantic and the mere sight of it would be enough to give any experienced cultivator a shock to see an initial sized dantian twice as large as what normal cultivators possessed.

Not to mention its storage capacity, Lars was sure that even his capability to bring out a faster and stronger explosive power from his dantian had been greatly enhanced after undergoing tempering.

Satisfied, he gathered the storm of energy above him and absorbed it into his newly created dantian.

Circulating the energy within him, he channeled the Qi to his fist and threw out a punch.

BOOM!

An explosive boom resounded as he threw several more punches into the air. Gusts of wind infused with slight Qi particles blasted forward and shattered Lars reading table.

Chunks of wood, as well as paper pieces, flew everywhere, causing his expression to stiffen slightly.

"Damn! My six hundred-year-old Sun wood furniture set! Fuck! My array manuals! I still haven't finished them. My notes!"

Lars cried out with a pained expression. His face looked incredibly gloomy as he held back teardrops that had quickly condensed and were now threatening to fall from his eyelids.

In the heat of the moment, he had punched out using circulated Qi, completely forgetting about his inhumane physical strength. Thereby destroying his precious favorite reading furniture.

Even his Array and formation manuals that he forgot on the table weren't spared. One should know that these manuals were extremely rare and had been written by formation masters above King Tier.

Finding them in the ruins recently, he had barely had the time to skim through them, and now they were gone.

As for the furniture, it was his favorite. The Sunwood had a special heating function that left his bottom toasty whenever he sat on it.

Sighing, Lars shook his head, knowing that what's done is done.

'Huh! What the....'

Lars eyes widened in shock when he discovered something. The spherical pendant on his neck inexplicably started radiating an immense white glow.

Grabbing the pendant hung around his neck, his hands shivered in ecstasy as he looked at the pendants glow.

'It is finally reacting'

A thought came to his mind. However, his expression changed when he felt something he had never felt before on his fingers.

All Lars heard was a slight sizzling sound before he hurriedly let go of the pendant and grimaced. He felt pain.

Looking at the fingers that held the pendant a second ago, he saw blood. However, this wasn't the blood of spirit beasts or the blood of someone he killed by himself before.

It was blood... His blood. The glowing pendant had actually burned his fingertips, allowing Lars to see his blood for the first time since he came to this world.

With eyes widened in disbelief, Lars had officially been injured for the first time ever.

As if coming in contact with an explosive reactant, the glowing pendant gave out an even more radiant shine and emitted waves of dense, ethereal aura. The old scroll which he had brought out from the drawing suddenly glowed.

However, instead of the ethereal white of the pendant, a dark red color filled with ominous vibes gushed out of the scroll as if trying to counter the energy from the pendant.

Gently floating off the bed, it started to shake uncontrollable as it assaulted Lars with an unsettling energy. Lars felt his mind go blank.

His eyes grew unfocused, and his body fell into a trance as the scroll suddenly opened. It was packed with heavy, complicated runes and the words written on it seemed like a language code he could not understand.

With his vision blurring, Lars eyes started to change. His left eye lost the pupils within, turning completely white like cataract, while the right turned dark red in color.

The words on the scroll started to rearranged themselves. However, Lars couldn't see it.

His consciousness had already slipped into darkness as he fell to the floor, completely unconscious.
