Chapter 21 - Critical Conditions

The people that were able to enter the arena consisted of the old man who was responsible for the exams and some other high leveled cultivators.

All of them looked towards Shiro who was still contorting in pain, his expression looked pained and the mark that was put there by the masked man began spreading, the high leveled cultivators all looked at the old man waiting patiently for instructions.

The old man himself was confused, the entire exam had been a mess and he didn't know how much explanation he would have to give to cover this up, he would prefer to end this situation before the casualties got worse.

When that thought entered his head, he looked around to see how many participants were left and was surprised to see only twenty people remaining, out of those twenty, two were tied up while two were victims to the man they had no idea about. The old man shook his head bitterly, the damage had already been done, and there was no point lamenting about what had past.

The old man turned to face Shiro before casting a spell, the spell had six magic circles layered on top each other, once the casting was done, a glass like cube appeared trapping Shiro and Shin inside, he didn't know what this 'awakening' could do but he was not ready to find out.

He brought out a paper tag from midair and began walking towards the cube, the paper tag was a seal which could hold even grade five magic beast, the old man was an elemental transition realm cultivator which meant even he would be powerless against this seal much less two people who were two realms lower than him in terms of cultivation.

The old man leisurely walked towards the cube, he didn't believe that they could break out of his spell and even if they did, what could two 13year olds do?

The old man continued his leisurely stroll towards the two as he murmured some words.

He then activated the paper tag and placed it on the cube, right when the paper tag touched the cube a crack appeared on it.

Inside the cube, the mark on Shiro's body had spread to a dangerous degree, he now had wings on his back and a small horn on his head. The rope on his body had turned to snakes and his skin color had turn grey, even his hair was now blue.

Shin on the other hand had the same marks spreading throughout his entire body, his hair had turned white and he had a ghostly complexion.

A few hours later, the two of them became normal again, all the marks on their bodies had vanished like nothing ever happened.

Seeing their conditions stabilize, the old man released his spell freeing them from the cube. Eris wasted no time at all in getting to where their bodies lay, she was seriously concerned when she touched their bodies and felt her hand getting burned. Her cultivation was considerably high for her age so one can imagine the amount of heat needed to cause her pain.

Eris called the old man to take a look at their conditions, they were burning up at a faster rate than normal and their conditions were near critical.

The old man looked at the two of them with some hesitation in his eyes before casting a spell.

[Seven Realms of Claudius: Time Remnants]

A seven layered magic circle formed at high speeds as the time around the two slowed down, Eris noticed this change and looked at the man with new found respect.

'He can use time manipulation spells?'

The ability to use time manipulation spells was a very rare and respected ability in the mortal realms, only those who had gotten the status as a time sage could use such magic.

If the academy could send a time sage to oversee an exam then just how powerful was the academy founder.

Eris gave the old man some space allowing him to do his work, she then went over to where Emris was, and his face also carried the same astonishment as hers as he watched the old man carry on with his work.

The old man did some things around Shiro's body before murmuring some more, then he carried their bodies away.

"The test has been canceled, those of you that survived passed, go to the receptionist building to get your academy insignias, remember not to lose them, everything in this academy is done with those insignias"

After saying his piece, the old man vanished without a trace leaving behind a portal that could lead them out of the arena.

Without any hesitation, all the participants who had survived the ordeal exited the arena while paying their respects to those who died.

Eris and Emris went around to look for the old man but were unable to find even a trace of him so they gave up and followed the other participants to the receptionist building. They were now students of the proud Moon Sword Academy.

The old man flew at incredible speeds, he flew away from the trial area before heading into the ground. He dug a long way before bursting out in a cave like place, he flew straight into a cave entrance which led him deeper into the cave.

After flying for a few minutes, he came to a halt in front of what looked like a chamber, inside the chamber was a man whose face kept on changing, in one second he looked old while the next he looked young, sometimes he looked like a woman while other times he looked like a male, looking at the ever changing face, the old man felt repulsed and spat on him.

He then walked towards the man before bringing Shiro and Shin out from a small portal, the two of them were frozen in time and had unmoving figures. Seeing them like that, the man with the ever changing face smiled, well, no one could be sure if that was what he did since even his smile was ever changing.

"It seems like my apprentice has begun his work"

"Very soon, this entire empire will fall before my might, hahaha"

The old man looked at the man before walking away, he had no time to chat with this maniac. He walked into a different chamber before placing the two on floor, around them was a magic circle like diagram which turned blue the instant their bodies touched it.

"Let's hope this works"

The old man said as he began to chant and murmur.
