I was sure that the screams could be heard from all around, and two of the guards puked almost instantly as the man screamed gutturally. I then cauterized his stump but made it so he could still piss, then dropped him, turning back to the guards. I advanced on them, but the leader of them was the only one that started to write magic in the air.
I just shook my head. "I have a mage above that is about to kill you if you try that," I said as I walked up to the man, and it was true. Coron was at the edge of the roof with words of magic floating in front of him.
"Why would you do this?! How can you think that you can get away with this, you abomination - Ah!"
I slammed the guard captain into the wall and brought my face close to his. "Because your men are trying to do my job. So, I thought that I might take a swing at law. What do you think? Seems to have a pretty dramatic effect on the others, and I know that they won't try raping one of the people you are supposed to protect, right?" I asked in a deadly calm voice and then pointed at the man that was passed out on the ground. "You had better start doing your job correctly, or I will decide that you don't work. If something doesn't work, I get rid of it, right? My name is Razor, and this city is going to see a whole lot more of me," I said and let go of the man who had pissed himself. "Make sure this girl gets home safe and that you pay her restitution for one of your people assaulting her."
"How much?" The guard captain asked as I turned back to the girl who was huddled against the wall and walked over to her.
"You can decide that but know that I will know how much you give," I said, and then squatted down in front of the girl, who looked terrified, and that was expected, but it was also me.
"Please don't hurt me!" She pleaded as I slowly put my hand on her arm. She had some cuts and scrapes, but my Nanobots healed her quickly by just increasing her own regeneration.
"Not here to hurt you, but make sure that you are home earlier next time. If the guards do anything to you, just say Razor, and I will deal with them before you can blink," I said, leaving a bug with her and standing up, but she stopped me, grabbing my arm.
"Why?! You don't even know my name!" She exclaimed, but I pulled away coldly. This had wasted precious time, and she should have known better than to be out at twilight in a city like this.
"Make smarter choices, and you will live longer," I said as my legs changed again, and I launched into the air, back to the roof.
Coron was waiting for me, but he looked almost as sick as the guards.
"Do you think that was necessary?" He asked, and I gave him a deadpan look.
"Would you ask me the same question if that had been Fawna?" I replied, and the boy looked away in embarrassment as I walked over and picked him back up. "That girl was someone's kid, and that guard did the worst things a person in his position could do. This is why this city is such a shithole."
"It is tough to make heads or tails with you," Coron said after we landed on the next roof. "You have everyone on a... Razor's edge... hmmm... I guess your name makes sense..."
"Never become predictable. You will live longer in this city," I said as Coron blushed and looked down. He was getting better at understanding me, and that was good for him.
"I will try my best," Coron said quietly, but then the little boy smiled up at me.
"That is all I ask. I need you all alive, or my goals will not be realized," I said as we got closer to the warehouse.
"Can I know what your goal is?" Coron asked, and I nodded.
"It's nothing special; I just want to dominate this world," I said, and Coron giggled.
"Nothing special? Dominate the world? I guess that is what everyone wants, but what does that world look like with all the gods?" he asked, and I made the final leap into the back of my compound.
"I will dominate this world and everything in it, gods included. It has become clear that there are too many people that think that they have control, but it is clear that no one has any control of anything," I said as I set Coron down.
"I still don't get what you mean by dominate. Does that mean you are going to force everyone to do what you say? What is the difference between now?" He asked, and I paused for a minute to consider his words.
After a short moment, I spoke. "I want people to know that I can do what needs doing so that they don't have to worry about someone else coming in and taking control. The major difference is that no one will have to fight or die for it because I can make sure that everyone gets a fair chance at life, but many people are going to have to die to realize this goal. I will trim the fat to create a lean and mean economic machine that works for everyone."
The boy considered my words, then smiled. "I think I understand."
"Good, now get inside," I said and started to head over the door to the back of the warehouse, but the kid called out to me.
"Wait! Can I be part of your world domination plan? I am pretty sneaky and fast; I could be a big help!" He asked hopefully, and I laughed before nodding.
"Sure thing, kid, you won't even have to change your name," I said with a smile as I opened the door to my warehouse.
