'I heard that he's the oldest child in the Eastern Empire'
'He's also quite mysterious'
'I hear his eyes can seduce and manipulate you
'He's hot but a very cold-hearted king, some might call him the devilish emperor'
'He's such a bloodthirsty king'
Abigail peered in with all the gossip that seemed to head on as rumours at the masquerade ball.
This wasn't the first time Abigail had encountered rumours about the Devilish prince who recently inherited his Grandfather's crown. Ever since Emperor Frederick's death [the former ruler of the Eastern Empire], his Grandson 'Prince Carol' became the next ruler of the Eastern Empire.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Distancing herself from the gossip and never-ending rumours, Abigail Quietly stood in a corner of the ballroom staring a glass of red wine with her finger. Casually looking around the masquerade ball, she couldn't help but snarl at the faces of strangers. Even though she has only been to a Masquerade ball once or twice, she never expected this one to win an award for the 'most boring party to ever exist'. At the same time, she knew coming to a ball like this would have been a waste of time, but If not for her Father [Ronald III] who imposed her to attend the ball, being here would have been the last place she wanted to be.
From the cheeky slow dancing, to the classical music and mutters from every direction of the room, Nothing seemed to have caught her eyes or her attention. The only thing Abigail could hear where the sounds of gossips that would constantly be repeated over and over again.
Minutes after rethinking her decision to ever show up, Her eyes instantly pointed to a gentleman walking in from the exit. His eyes were as green as emerald, his body as fit as a demi-god, and his hair so long, girls could go jealous. He had this outstanding black and elegant outfit and a black mask complementing his green beautiful eyes. The crowd shuffled in silence as the announcer called out his name shortly introducing him as the Emperor of the Eastern Nation.
"Prince Carol has arrived" he voiced.
Carol confidently walked down the stairs as everyone quietly made way for him like he was the big deal. Even Abigail couldn't lie, he'd also seemed to have caught her eyes. If anything, she couldn't agree less.
Admiring him up close, their eyes met and she couldn't help but feel a cold and intimidating connection.
'It's him! the emperor!' A woman whispered as Abigail sat in a corner of the ballroom quietly sipping her wine in peace when she was approached by Beatrice, 'Her older sister'
"I see you're not enjoying the party?" She stated seeing how well Abigail distanced herself from the crowd.
"When did I ever find parties fun?" Abigail answered rolling her eyes.
"Did Mother and Father drag you down here?" Beatrice asked
"They couldn't stop tormenting me because according to them, Father had a really big announcement" Abigail answered in a reserved tone as Beatrice silently chuckled and joined her table.
"Emperor Carol seemed to have joined the Masquerade uninvited" Abigail brought up.
"He showed up?" Beatrice questioned but had this concerned triggering look on her face, almost like she wasn't expecting it.
"Yes. Is there something I should know?" I asked puzzled as she passed me another glass of wine, her eyes not leaving the table.
"Does Father and Mother know about this?" She asked
"I don't think so, where they not supposed to?" I lamented
"Quite the opposite" She sighed reluctantly
Beatrice muted herself which gave me an uneasy feeling. She looked like she was bout to tell me something but she couldn't.
"If there's something you want to tell me, Beatrice, then spit it out" I spoke but Beatrice turned her eyes away unable to meet mine.
"You'd know sooner or later. But it's not me you would hear it from." She says firmly and instantly gets up on her feet.
"When you know, just keep in mind that this is for your own good Abigail" She turns her head upon her shoulders while facing the opposite direction. With that being said, she left without saying anything else.
'What did she mean by that?' Abigail thought but it instantly left her mind the minute Ronald stepped into the Masquerade ballroom and everyone gathered at once including Beatrice desperately waiting for his big announcement.
"Thank you all for coming here today" He started holding up a glass of wine for a toast.
"I will make this announcement straight by..."
"Congratulating my Daughter, Abigail" Ronald's eyes met Abigail's in a beaming smile as she smiles back at him confused.
"And her engagement with Emperor Carol"
She dropped the glass of wine in disbelief as her heart started beating faster than normal and the glass shattered on the ground.
What was he talking about?
Everyone went dead silent at what My Father had just said giving out the same dumbfounded and shocked expressions on their faces. Abigail thought it was a joke at first and turned her glance at Beatrice who glued her eyes to the ground.
Did she know about this?
