Chapter 66 - Boss Battle

Ban Yongrui is the sect master of the Bones Devouring Sect and its founder. He is an old monster who has been existing for a long time. His origin is humbling, and cannot even compare to his peers who are able to become heroic figures in the cultivation world.

This changes after he becomes a Demonic Cultivator

Realizing the wickedness and evil in his heart to be so strong, he gives up his humanity in pursuit of the demonic arts. Bones Devouring art is something he painstakingly is able to learn by selling his soul to an ancient demon.

Now that he is at the 10th stage and is almost about to reach the 11th stage, he is now at the most complicated part of his cultivation. That is why he purposefully leaves the Azuon Empire at the first sign of this.

The Azuon Emperor is about to die, and it has been only lately since it was issued the decree of how to select his inheritor. Ban Yongrui curses the emperor in his heart. The Azuon Emperor is quite crazy to make it so that the offspring who destroys the most demonic sect will inherit the throne.

Because of this, Ban Yongrui has to evacuate the sect. Out of his expectation, there is actually a scary hidden force that has been secretly cultivating in the backwater kingdom of blood and iron… This is just so much bad luck.

If not for the grunt before him, Ban Yongrui wouldn't even learn what is happening outside.

A grunt's body-less head jumps up and down as it tells him what is happening outside. "Sect Master, this is bad! The experts outside are very strong as they are able to go toe to toe with our forces."

"Just wait a little bit more. I trust my disciples." Ban Yongrui is confident in his disciples that is able to rise in the sect's ranks with their own strength and talents.

It is too sudden. Exactly after he speaks his words of confidence, his connection to his disciples simultaneously dies and falls like dominoes. With his spiritual connection to them, Ban Yongrui realizes how they died.

It is like a slap to his own face. He leaves the jittery head and removes himself from his cave abode. Furious, he instantly summons himself to the villa where the fluctuations of qi are the strongest.

Ban Yongrui is an old monster, yet his gentle face and youthful aura suggest otherwise. His dark robes flutter in the air as he levitates in the air. "I am Ban Yongrui! Sect Master of the Bones Devouring Sect!"

Nee Chen who fought with the Sword Demon, realizes how the Sword Demon looks youthful despite clearly being an old hag. This Sect Master must have a secret rejuvenating technique like their Game Master. "I am Nee Chen, the Humble Blade, and an avenger!"

Xiang Ya following her dear's example also introduces herself. "Xiang Ya, Lady Luck, an avenger!"

Lu Gao catches on to this and also introduces himself. "I am… Little General… Lu Gao is my name… Also an avenger." For some reason, he feels shy about introducing his game ID.

Xiang Ya whispers to him. "Tell him your real name. I just received a +100 reputation after telling my ID. Nee Chen too must have received the same."

"Ugh," Reluctantly, Lu Gao reintroduces himself. "I am Hyper Super Blast General!" He says in a dignified manner barely resisting the shame.

Ban Yongrui didn't mind the bizarreness of his challengers. His eyes look at the remaining cultivator who didn't introduce his name yet. He doesn't really care whether they are coming here for the sake of revenge or just to be righteous. He doesn't even bother knowing where this people's grudge is coming from. As an evil demonic sect, he doesn't have to explain himself.

Lurker with a toothy grin flips the bird at Ban Yongrui. "I am your daddy, the freaking Jaded Jaws, Lurker! Eat my shit!"

Shadow Step*****!

Lurker vanishes into a blurry shadow and flanks Ban Yongrui on the side. Taking this as a signal, Nee Chen also vanishes in a flicker.

"Flicker Sword*****!"

Nee Chen's sword becomes a sudden mirage as he slashes at Ban Yongrui. However, Nee Chen is not done yet as he imbues the Sword of Annihilation***** skill on his sword.

Lurker similarly does not fall behind as he imbues the skill Assassination***** in his crocodile claws.

Xiang Ya not missing a beat summons the Binds of Fate***** to restrict the movement of Ban Yongrui.

Lu Gao is not taking it easy either as he chants word after word in a whisper.

The clear voice of Ban Yongrui echoes in the surrounding. "Full Demonic Form— Vajra Bones of Evil!" Translucent and almost ethereal black bones surround Ban Yongrui. Bones after bones congest and gather on him as finally half of a body of a giant hovers in his shadow. The bones replicate the image of a giant from its torso to the head, however, it wasn't exactly a giant, but just an amalgamation of human bones coming together. Moreover, gigantic bone arms counting nine stretch from the shoulders of this giant amalgamation of bones.

The four heroic players are helpless against the demonic being in front of them. Poor Lu Gao cannot even cast his new favorite, the Explosion spell…

What follows next is a slaughter-fest…

Meanwhile~

"What the fuck is that? Is that a Susanoo?"

I watch all of this happen while I hide behind the clouds from above. I am not imagining it, but I feel like I am hearing the sound of a boss battle in my ears the moment that gigantic amalgamation of bones appeared.

Taking a second look, and using both my Telepathy and Mind's Eye, I realize there is real music coming from this Ban Yongrui character. This is one hell of a luxurious character. He has his own boss-themed music.

This music is not normal however as it is dense evil, and accompanying it is the songful crying of the dead that confuses and impairs the mind. If it were any other cultivator, they might even suffer long-term in their cultivation after this.

Because of the serenity that my Mind's Eye provides and the protection from my Telepathy, it doesn't really affect me. It wouldn't really cause problems for my players either as their souls will be cleansed after the resurrection.

I watch Ban Yongrui devastate my players and the others.

These deaths are necessary for my player empire. I am really disappointed with their hooligan behavior. They do not have any formations or strategies! They are just throwing themselves forward which is crazy!

I should write more guides for my players when I return home. My players should know of their roles like a main tank, secondary tack, dedicated damage dealers, and protected healers! Sigh… I cannot expect much of them as most of these people were simple mortals before becoming cultivators.

The surviving members of the Bones Devouring Sect celebrate the appearance of their sect master. Before I even go down and return the damage to his people… like say kill all of his subordinates, Ban Yongrui one-ups me by devouring his subordinates' souls with an evil spell.

With my Mind's Eye, I realize that Ban Yongrui's cultivation is nearing the 11th stage which is worrying. As I have memories of the 11th stage, I know how fearsome of an existence they are. No wonder my current four strongest players cannot even touch the hem of his robes.

This Ban Yongrui is actually such an expert. This cannot be! I cannot have this bastard getting stronger. When I am fighting ZHa Dong, the first Bones Devouring Sect cultivator I met, my powers are about at the 8th stage. I don't know how strong I am currently, but with my current wallet, I should be strong enough to deal with this Ban Yongrui.

[Quintessence: 146, 908]

I gather my telekinesis, and with a generous amount of quintessence, I gather the invisible telekinetic force from my raw brain and conjure a sword of pure kinetic power.

-10, 000 quintessence!

With a thought, I drop the invisible raining swords at those Ban Yongrui are about to devour. One by one, the demonic cultivators fall as their sect master siphons their souls with an evil spell array in the fake Buddhist temple. Aside from this, many other demonic cultivators also die so abruptly to the invisible swords.

As there are still too many demonic cultivators, it is hard to notice the sudden peculiarity. However, as fewer and fewer cultivators remain, Ban Yongrui slowly realizes of this peculiarity.

"Why are the souls I am gathering so few? Where are the others' souls?" He asks himself in his head. This is just too weird.

With my telepathy, I am able to catch what he is thinking. "Of course, it is because I am guiding them on the Nether realm… That is why you cannot get their souls!" I tell him using my Telepathy to convey the message.

"Who is that!?" Ban Yongrui colors his eyes with a hint of fear.
