Meiros examined the drawing, but he couldn't figure out anything that resembled the drawing of the so-called "sniper rifle."
He saw that it had many components that make up the weapon, but he couldn't figure out what they do. He passed the drawing back to Chrysos.
"Master, what strange weapon is that?" Meiros has the ability to think and analyze things quickly, but he really couldn't figure out what it does.
Chrysos took the book from Meiros and pocketed it in his chest pocket. "It's something that I thought will fit you. Don't worry, if I think that you're going to be able to use it masterfully, I mean it."
"I didn't know my master held me in such high regards." Meiros said laughingly. "But master, what does the weapon do? No matter how much I try to decipher it, the more I become confused."
With a sly smile, Chrysos replied, "You'll figure it out soon.."
Seeing that his master was acting mysterious about it, Meiros decided not to pry into it anymore.
Not too long later, the seats were slowly getting occupied one by one.
Triyugis, despite being a chef, is actually a powerful and mighty adversary. Chefs are usually thought of as people who cook food and that's it. But in Chrysos' eyes, that isn't the case.
Everyone knows about Herbalists, Potionmakers, and Alchemists.
Those three are regarded as the only classes who could use the environment and make potions that have the wondrous ability to enhance a specific ability.
Herbalists focus on plants and they have the ability to use the full potential of herbs and their special chemicals to create potions that can heal, fight, breathe underwater, and many more. They don't require that much Divinium as long as they have the right ingredients.
Potionmakers on the other hand, rely more on Divinium than Herbalists. They can change a potion's ability by using a minimal amount of ingredients, but they have to compensate with Divinium.
Alchemists though.. They are the jack of all trades when it comes to brewing. They can adapt to both magical and chemical potions.
Then there's the chef.
Most people forget that the chef is the fourth class that falls under the "brew and consume" type class.
If Herbalists work with plants the best, Chefs work with flesh matter from animals, beasts and well sometimes… humans and other races.
Usually, only corrupted ones use such ingredients. And what I meant by this is usually that, Heroic ones have the excuse to use corrupted ones since to everyone, they aren't considered as human anymore.
The hatred for the corrupted forces is a deep rooted one. No one knows when it started, but as long as one could remember, that's how they were treated for a long time.
Probably during the beginning when people first awakened their Divinium abilities, that's when people discovered the sources of Divinium in their bodies. And when they saw that there's corrupted and heroic energy, the rift between the two grew until it turned into hostility.
As for the true reason why the corrupted and heroic ones fought, almost no one knew.
..
Chrysos looked around and he could see that the seats were almost full. That means that the fight is about to begin. He looked at Meiros who could barely contain his excitement as he watched the arena almost without blinking.
And when all of the seats were finally occupied, a bunch of smoke immediately filled the arena as the lights dimmed.
Fwooooshhh-
When the smoke settled, a figure of a man in a fine outfit wearing a strange but fashionable hat appeared.
The man used some kind of sound enhancing spell on his voice as he spoke, "Hello everybody! I'm your host Cewelt Onoira, Today we have the exciting fight between the great warriors, Espentoni Pasird, the Skullbeast Summoner against the Decimator of Flesh, Triyugis Geskaid!"
Cewelt spoke with eloquence that caught the crowd's attention to every word that he uttered.
After he announced the fighters, Espentoni and Triyugis appeared from opposite sides of the arena.
When they became fully visible, the crowd went wild out of excitement.
"They're really here! I can't believe this!"
"Oh ho, this is going to be a great battle!"
"Espentoni you're my idol!"
Fans from the crowd shouted as loud as they could to get their idol's attention. To these people, they were untouchable fighters that they could only watch. And to think that these great figures were in front of them, they couldn't help but feel excited.
Chrysos looked around and just as he expected, the people around him weren't commoners. They were either associated with rich backgrounds or nobles.
But Chrysos didn't care about any of that. He got close and whispered to Meiros' ear, "I heard that there's a betting function in this arena. How does it work?"
Meiros easily answered his question. "Ah, that's easy. Master, do you see that large illusion screen above the arena?"
Chrysos looked at the giant holographic screen that reminded him of those screens from earth that they have on wrestling or boxing rings.
"Mhm, what about them?"
Meiros cleared his throat before explaining, "Before the fight begins, the betting system will happen. And from what I know, the screen will show you one of the fighters and if you want to bet on them, you just throw as many gold coins as you want in the air for sixty seconds and because of a magic contraption, the coins will fly up and be carried to a secret area where it will be safely held. After that, the screen will change and show the next fighter and those who already bet will be covered in a special energy where no matter how much they try to throw a coin, it won't work."
Chrysos finally understood. He nodded his head after hearing how remarkable the device behind a simple betting system works.
He pondered for a short while before turning back to Meiros. "Can you send the necessary information that you know about those two?"
Meiros didn't delay and searched his mind with all of what he knew about Espentoni and Triyugis like a computer searching its files. And when he got the information, he copied it and extracted the memory from his mind and converged it into a ball of psychic energy.
Chrysos looked at the ball of light blue energy and took it from Meiros' hand. He placed it on his forehead and the psychic energy entered his head and turned into memories in his brain.
He scanned the information before coming to a conclusion. He opened his eyes and said, "I'll bet on Triyugis. He's going to win this one."
Meiros stared at Chrysos, clearly amazed by his master's ability to decipher something from small details. But even so, he held some doubt. Not for Chrysos, but for himself. "Master, I'm not sure you should trust my memories. They might have been outdated and are probably flawed."
Chrysos waved his hands at Meiros to gesture that it's alright, "No no no, I'm quite confident in your memories."
Meiros raised his head to look at Chrysos. "What gave you that confidence?"
"It's because it's your memories. That's why I'm confident." Chrysos crossed his arms as the illusion screen started to change.
Meiros sighed at his master's trust in him. "What if Triyugis loses? Wouldn't that mean that your confidence meant nothing?"
"Triyugis won't lose." Chrysos stared at the illusion screen as it showed a figure of a man with a good mix of slender and muscular body type. The man's face has a tough chin and jawline. It was Triyugis.
Cewelt spoke once again when the illusion screen finally stabilized.
"Alright, place your bets people! Make sure to make it count!" Cewelt laughed and posed in a relaxed manner.
Many people started to toss coins into the air.
When the coins were thrown, they flew towards an iron box above the illusion screen. If one looked from far away, they might think that the gold coins flying towards the box was a stream of golden dust.
Some people tossed a few coins while the rich ones threw loads of gold coins into the air, making a bright river of gold coins.
Chrysos opened his bundle of gold coins and dumped all of it into the air.
Meiros was quite surprised that Chrysos was this serious about Triyugus winning. He was also filled with a bit of worry that Chrysos might lose all of that money if Triyugis loses.
But remembering how Chrysos said that Triyugis will win, even though Meiros was still doubtful, he decided to put some faith in him.
The illusion screen flashed and switched to Espentoni. And just like earlier, many people placed their bets on him.
And when all of the gold coins had been collected, the betting phase was over.
After Cewelt saw that the betting phase was over, he tipped his hat and said, "Now since that's done, get ready to see a blood boiling fight between two great heroes!" He grabbed his cape and covered himself before vanishing.
Cewelt reappeared in the illusion screen and rubbed his hands excitedly. "Be careful folks! Don't want to miss anything from the fight!"
Tzzt-
The illusion screen was cut horizontally into two. The top half being Cewelt and the bottom half being a close-up to the arena.
Suddenly, the area became darker as spotlights shone on Triyugis and Espentoni.
The two approached each other and gave a nod. They slowly walked and circled each other, making the atmosphere even more tense.
After a short while of probing the other side, Espentoni made a move and used a spell that covered his fist with a hound's skull.
Cewelt spoke through the illusion screen and said, "Oh it seems that Espentoni made a move!"
Bam!
Triyugis blocked the punch with a giant greatsword in his back. Even though Espentoni was clearly larger than him, Triyugis was able to go toe to toe against him.
Seeing this, Chrysos snickered and thought to himself, "The benefits of being a chef is that… the effects of their consumables last a bit longer than the average ones."
Espentoni snorted and summoned five hounds with their heads being only skulls on fire. The hounds are translucent and one could see their bones through their ghostly flesh.
One hound lunged on Triyugis in which he responded with a swift slash with his greatsword, he exerted extreme amounts of force using his legs, slashing the hound in half.
He didn't stop and charged towards Espentoni. He raised his greatsword and slammed it down to Espentoni's head.
However, it was blocked when Espentoni commanded the four remaining hounds to shroud his body. Now, he looked like a burly ghost werewolf.
A jet of white steam came out of Espentoni's nose. He smiled to reveal his confidence in front of Triyugis.
Espentoni held the greatsword tightly without it even budging a bit.
This made the crowd go wild.
"Am I seeing things?! Espentoni made a breakthrough with his man-hound skullbeast transformation!" Cewelt's commentary hyped up the cheers even more.
..
Meiros gulped after seeing Espentoni in his new form. He was worried that Triyugis might lose but when he looked at Chrysos, he was calmly watching the match as if he didn't bet a large amount of money on Triyugis.
It's as if… he was waiting for something.
Meiros resisted the urge to ask questions and focused on the arena.
…
Espentoni threw the greatsword away from him which sent Triyugis a considerable distance away.
Gritting his teeth, Triyugis flipped midair and landed on the ground safely.
Of course, Espentoni wasn't going to let Triyugis recover that easily. He charged after him and sent a powerful punch.
Bam!
"Oh my goodness! Espentoni's is charging in! And what is this? Triyugis, the Decimator of Flesh is being pushed in a corner!?" Cewelt's exaggeration made many of the spectators watch the fight with even more adrenaline.
Espentoni used a strange spell and his body suddenly became so light that he was dishing out fierce attacks one after another to the point that Triyugis wasn't given a chance to fight back!
Triyugis used a defensive spell to negate the attacks as much as possible, but Espentoni's attacks were too fast and powerful that he couldn't find a way to break through even though he was slashing his greatsword madly against him.
Espentoni and Triyugis moved like a blur. Everyone could see how fast they were moving that the atmosphere became so hard to breathe in because of the intense battle.
The spectators watched the battle with bated breath. Triyugis was slowly being grinded to weakness while Espentoni fiercely struck without even receiving any damage yet.
If Espentoni wins, this will become history, but Triyugis will also lose his fame and glory. The stakes in this battle aren't low at all.
Espentoni used a fire punch that created a mini explosion that allowed him to get in a few punches to Triyugis.
Wounded, Triyugis noticed his defensive spell about to break. He was about to reinforce it when Espentoni sent a strange punch covered in peculiar Divinium energy that he has never seen before.
Crrraaackk!
Triyugis was struck squarely on the chest, breaking many of his rib cages.
He crashed on the ground and spat out blood. He was breathing heavily as he scrambled for his clothes.
..
The crowd went silent. Was Triyugis going to lose like this? They didn't know.
Meiros was anxious after seeing Triyugis so battered, but Chrysos only sighed after watching the fight closely.
"Espentoni lost."
