Chapter 61 - Beating Up A Provectis Ranked Knight

Chrysos couldn't help but sigh as he looked around.

The corrupted ones forced him to come with them and he was in the middle of their camp right now. And even though there were only eight of them, Chrysos knew that it was wishful thinking that he could defeat them head on.

Not only that, they confiscated Angelfeather. His chances of winning against them are already extremely low, but there is also a Provectis corrupted one as well. There was no hope in winning this.

As an Iretoir ranked alchemist, fighting him would be equal to seeking death. And since Chrysos isn't suicidal yet, he decided that following this bunch of corrupted ones was the best idea for now.

Chrysos listened to the crackling of the campfire until he saw that a person stood up after talking to the others about something. As for that something, he had no clue.

A corrupted one named Filisak approached Chrysos and sat in front of him. "So, you're an alchemist?" Filisak asked as he scrutinized Chrysos.

"Didn't I tell you that a few minutes ago?" Chrysos had a hidden taunting tone in his voice.

Filisak ignored it and brought out a few ingredients with him. "We need you to make a potion so that we can see how good you are when it comes to brewing."

Chrysos revealed a nonchalant response. "Sure… Make it quick so that we can get this over with."

Filisak felt that Chrysos' words were a bit grating to his ears. He pushed his anger out of his system and walked away.

Chrysos knew that they didn't specify what potion they wanted because they needed to know if Chrysos could figure out the best potion to brew with the ingredients that they brought him.

The ingredients were quite versatile. All of them can be used for many types of potions and there aren't any key ingredients at all.

An example of a key ingredient would be something like the left lung of a deep sea fish to make a water breathing potion. That same ingredient cannot be used for a fire resistance potion, making it an ingredient with a specific use.

He found it quite tricky to figure out what potion these ingredients could make. He also didn't want to use every ingredient since if their impression of his skill grows bigger, his worth would be higher which would bring him more danger which of course, he didn't want.

Using his knowledge from earth, Chrysos studied the ingredients for quite a while to the point that the corrupted ones watching him were getting quite impatient.

..

Five minutes later…

Chrysos finally figured out what potion he could make with the ingredients. He lit up a fire under the cauldron and began brewing.

The eight of them watched Chrysos closely.

When they saw Chrysos use a wind type magic circle which looked strange to the eight of them, they were all confused. But since they aren't alchemists, who are they to judge?

Chrysos refined a mushroom and purified it before extracting it. Mushrooms are very popular ingredients because they grow fast and they are also very cheap.

But unlike the usual style of brewing, Chrysos only worked on the mushroom's stem instead of the cap, which is very strange if another alchemist was watching.

Sadly, these guys don't know jack$#!+

Chrysos sliced the mushroom cap into cubes and boiled them in water. Chrysos then took a small bar of gray powder compressed together. He tossed this block of powder into the pot and the moment it touched the hot water, it crumbled apart and mixed with the mushroom mixture.

He only added the purified mushroom essence into the pot when the liquid turned into a strange dark blue mixture.

Chrysos picked up a variety of grass and extracted different types of essence from them. He only purified a portion of them before adding them into the mixture.

He looked at the pile and saw that there were only four ingredients left, so he grabbed the organ with a strange shape and by using refinement and a long process of blending, he turned it into a liquid with a mushy texture.

Next, Chrysos grabbed a bunch of a scorpion-ant hybrid insect that looked quite fierce and crushed them. Chrysos then used a strange scarlet colored fruit and cut it in half so that he could pour all of its contents into the bowl of crushed insects. The mixture was a bright red liquid that looked like strawberry juice. But unlike strawberry juice, the taste of this mixture is too disgusting and the odor is also rancid.

The last two ingredients are a bottle of a yellowish semi-clear nectar and a bottle of liquid Divinium.

Chrysos refined the nectar until it was as clear as water and added it into the pot.

Chrysos added the bright red mixture after letting it sit for a while. He then blended the contents of the pot and added the liquid Divinium after ten minutes of mixing.

After that, he was done.

The pot was filled with a boiling dark purple mixture. It looked a bit scary and it also smells pungent.

The corrupted ones looked at each other.

"So, what about it? He used all the ingredients which makes him worth 1,500 Legion points. How are we going to split it between the eight of us?"

"We'll take 187 points each and Afuara will get 191."

One of the corrupted ones calculated it and nodded. "Sounds about right."

"Now since we got him, let's go back to the legion and claim our points." Afuara stood up from his seat and walked towards Chrysos.

The seven of them followed behind.

..

Chrysos saw them approaching, but he didn't do anything.

He watched them get closer and closer until suddenly, one of the corrupted ones started acting strangely.

..

"Whoa there Wertan.. what's wrong?" Filisak saw that Wertan suddenly fell over because his legs somehow didn't support his next step.

The corrupted one named Wertan held his forehead and said, "I don't know what happened but, I feel strangely dizzy.."

One of the corrupted ones rubbed his eyes and said, "Yeah… I feel weird as well. My eyes are blurry for some reason."

Filisak frowned and felt that something was wrong. However, he didn't have time to ponder it when he also felt weak and dropped down to the ground.

The others couldn't resist it as well and dropped down.

"W- what's going on…?" Filisak tried moving his legs, but he couldn't feel them at all.

Afuara was the only one who didn't collapse on the ground, but he still felt the strange effects that his team was feeling. He felt dizzy, his limbs felt numb, and his eyes were a bit blurry as well. He looked at Chrysos and realized something..

"You…" Afuara looked at Chrysos with a trace of fear, anger, and apprehension.

Chrysos was still sitting down as he looked at Afuara who had his sword drawn towards him.

"If you're confused about what's happening to you, you have inhaled large amounts of Triumioxiline." Chrysos spoke with absolute calmness. He wasn't afraid that Afuara could do anything to him because he knew that he held the advantage here.

Afuara frowned. He couldn't understand what the last word meant, but he knew that he fell for Chrysos' trap.

Oxygen with a sturdy metallic Divinium charge mixed with another oxygen atom with a combined blood and death Divinium charge makes the compound Umioxiline-A. It is very toxic when inhaled and it makes the body think that these are normal oxygen atoms, but when the lungs try and absorb them, the sturdy metallic Divinium charge doesn't allow the oxygen atom's form to be changed, making it a terrible alternative to oxygen. Not only that, the oxygen with the death Divinium charge targets the blood and the cells within the body, making the immune system very weak.

Umioxiline-B is made from the strange potion that Chrysos brewed. When the smoke of Umioxiline-B mixes with Umioxiline-A, the strange chemical reaction with the blood Divinium charge makes the Umioxiline-A attracted to blood.

And finally, Umioxiline-C.

Umioxiline-B and Umioxiline-A are both gaseous. But Umioxiline-C is liquid.

When boiled, it creates a toxic gas that can activate blood Divinium charges and make them a bit more effective. But with its poisonous nature, it could create deadly effects.

So, with the combined force of Umioxiline-A acting as a base, Umioxiline-B being the activator of the base, and finally Umioxiline-C giving the activated base poisonous properties, Triumioxiline is created.

..

Chrysos watched the hatred in Afuara's eyes grow.

Afuara lunged forward with his sword and slashed it towards Chrysos. With his speed, it was hard to dodge.

But Chrysos wasn't planning to dodge.

He dipped his hand into the pot full of Umioxiline-C and activated Flaming Burneix Claws.

Peng!

Chrysos' golden fingers struck Afuara's sword and dealt severe damage to the sword.

Breathing heavily, Afuara looked at his sword that had a small part melted by the flames in Chrysos' hands.

Because of Chrysos' fingers, the spell's attacking power increased a lot. His fingers don't have fingernails, but they are indestructible and quick.

Afuara knew that he was in deep trouble. The Triumioxiline gas got into his body and it is currently wrecking his fighting abilities very much.

Forced into a corner, he decided to use his unique ability as a knight.

"War Chariot of Corruption"

Using his Divinium, a translucent chariot pulled by three black horses appeared around Afuara. The wheels of the chariot had thorns that stuck out with a demonic feeling.

Chrysos didn't have much time to react when the chariot rushed towards him so fast that he couldn't even block it properly.

Bam!

"Gah!" Chrysos crashed backwards and created a shallow trench as he fell. He licked his lips and tasted the metallic flavor of blood.

The golden glow in his eyes faded and his ferocity was replaced with a wash of careful and calculative thoughts.

Thinking fast, Chrysos used the earthen fist spell and stretched it towards the treetops to pull himself up like a grappling hook.

Afuara rode the chariot and wanted to use it to run over Chrysos. "Die!! Eat this, you @-#&$#-&@!$."

"F#¿&..." Chrysos swore out loud.

He stretched his right arm and shot another earthen fist towards Afuara as his left arm carried him up.

However, this did little effect as the chariot destroyed it and rammed Chrysos backwards so hard that he felt his right arm's tendons almost rupture.

Afuara saw this and laughed. "You're too naive to challenge a Provectis ranked knight!" He charged forward with the intention to run Chrysos over.

Chrysos crashed down to the ground with even more injuries.

"Master!" Meiros called out from the telepathic connection.

"Meiros, not now!" Chrysos had difficulty standing up. But as he saw the chariot close up once again, the golden glow in his eyes returned.

Seeing Chrysos' last ditch effort, Afuara laughed. "You thought that you could win didn't ya?! Well surprise, surprise.. this isn't how things are going to work." Afuara increased the Divinium output into the chariot.

Fwoom!

The dark colored chariot that looked like it came from hell suddenly burst down in dark flames. Afuara shouted with a maniacal expression on his face, "Die maggot!!"

Chrysos reached his left hand out.

More specifically, his fingers.

Afuara thought that his victory was certain. But the moment Chrysos' fingers touched the chariot, his fingers released a blinding golden light and another chariot appeared out of nowhere!

The chariot was made of white colored materials and gold. The horses looked majestic as their pearly white hair fluttered in the air.

Afuara saw this chariot manifest and couldn't help but open his mouth in shock.

The two chariots clashed and exploded upon impact.

Boom!

A sphere of heroic and corrupted Divinium formed in the middle of the explosion and grew exponentially within a second. The light blue wisps of energy mixed with the dark purple swirls of energy reflected on Chrysos' eyes.

The explosion weakened after a short period of time before finally dissipating.

The area was extremely ravaged. Leaving nothing but burnt trees and a large crater. When the dust settled, Chrysos saw that Afuara was still alive.

"*cough* *cough*" Afuara was covered in his own blood as he struggled to get up.

He wiped his face and saw Chrysos away from him. Afuara gritted his teeth and stood up after enduring a painful sensation as he straightened his legs.

"You… you're not a normal alchemist at all…" Afuara's breathing was ragged and his face was covered in blood and dirt. He looked at Chrysos with a determined look as he ran with his full might.

He threw away his sword and unsheathed the spare one in his back.

Chrysos saw this and grabbed two bottles from his belt before immediately splashing himself with healing potions.

Afuara has expended too much Divinium after their battle, so he had to resort to physical attacks.

Chrysos also ran out of Divinium after returning the attack to Afuara, so it could be said that they are currently equals.

Afuara reached Chrysos and slashed his sword to go for the kill.

Chrysos jumped up and spun in the air to kick Afuara's sword with his right leg.

Clank!

After kicking the sword away, he used the remaining momentum of his spin to kick Afuara in the face with his left leg.

Bam!

Afuara fell down as Chrysos sticks the landing.

Chrysos breathed heavily and revealed a triumphant smile. "Good thing I didn't slack during my taekwondo class."
