When Huangfu Lingyao returned, he had just delicately lifted the covers when he heard a voice from inside the room.

Liu Shimei's voice came from inside the room. "I'm fine. I just woke up to use the restroom and wanted to see if you were asleep."
She had woken up in the middle of the night to relieve herself and, worried about their dog, glanced out the window only to find it missing.
