Since I wanted to try and change my sister's fate, I would include her in my non-dairy ice cream idea. I wanted to try and keep her from partying and getting hooked on drugs. Maybe if I spend more time with her, she will not get pregnant so early. I hope that doesn't change my nephew too much. Changing the future is tricky!
The school was less eventful than yesterday. Everyone was still talking about the terrorist attack, but our classes were back to normal. I had lunch with Laura. We usually shared a tray, and she would split the $1 that her parents gave her for lunch with me. I would use my free lunch pass and use the .50 cents for an afternoon snack. Usually, pretzels or fruit. We usually get pizza, but I decided to give up dairy, so I told her, "I'm going to give up dairy because it upsets my stomach. How about we split a chicken burger instead?" Laura was ok with it. She agreed, "Sure, I'll get a knife so we can cut it." I got our lunch and carried it to the table. She grabbed a knife and some condiments and met me at the table. We split the sandwich and fries. I used lettuce and tomato to make a side salad.
Thomas had told me in my past life that he thought me, and Laura were Lesbians because of how we shared lunch every day. Lol! I told him, "No, not a lesbian, just poor and trying to watch my weight." He was in football and ate 2 lunches by himself, so he didn't understand. Shake my head! Teenage boys and their metabolisms. Life isn't fair! Oh well, maybe if I ran every day I could eat more and not worry about gaining weight. Although, my teenage self could gain a little weight and still be healthy. I would just get my hormones checked and just watch what I eat for now. I knew a lot of recipes for low-carb foods and the Whole 30.
After lunch, the rest of the day was usual, and I spent most of the time planning out my future. I would invent non-dairy ice cream and save my sister. Next, I would help my brother get into sports and games. I know Magic card games will become very popular in the future and the cards will become very valuable. If I could convince him to start a collection now and invest in his future maybe, he would be too broke to try drugs.
My grandparents were both hippies and smoked pot. My grandfather fought in Vietnam and got hooked on harder drugs while he was overseas. He calmed down a lot when we were born, but my mom told me all kinds of stories from her childhood. It was crazy! Grandpa was her stepdad and dealt drugs. She had to sleep with a gun under her pillow as a little girl to scare away the drug addicts who tried to break in and steal drugs and money. I didn't want my brother or sister to go through that. Weed wasn't too bad, but nothing else was ok.
I remember in my past life my grandpa was my brother's supplier. I would have to keep an eye on that. I'm pretty sure it's too late to change my grandparents, but I would try to stick up for my brother this time. Last time I was too distracted by my boyfriend and upset about my stepdad and hormones to notice what was going on.
After school, I walked to the elementary school with my friend and picked up my siblings. We talked about school stuff and how their days were. Caitlin and Jimmy were close, so I let them talk to each other while I talked to Christopher. Caitlin was 1 year older than Jimmy. In order from oldest to youngest, it went me, Amber, Christopher, Caitlyn, and Jimmy as the youngest. Caitlyn and Jimmy had a half-sister who lived with their mom. She was a year younger than me. We weren't close because we didn't see them often.
I talked to Christopher about school. I asked him what his favorite part about school was. He was a little dyslexic and slightly color-blind, so he struggled in school. I always tried to help with homework because I knew he had a hard time with it. He told me his favorite time was recess. The typical response of an elementary child. I asked him," What do you like to do during recess?" He responded, " I like to play tag with my friends." I thought about it and asked, "What about soccer or kickball?" He nodded and replied, "Yeah, I like both!"
He played little league baseball and was decent at it. I wanted to see what else he might be interested in playing. I was thinking that sports players get scholarships and get drug tested! It would solve 2 problems in one if I could get him hooked on sports early. Teamwork was also important! I encouraged, "You and Jimmy can practice playing catch later after your homework." Jimmy looked at me and smiled. Jimmy liked Christopher, but Christopher was kind of jealous of Jimmy for having his father around. James also seemed to be harder on Christopher than Jimmy.
Jimmy also used to get us in trouble a lot by lying. One time we were all locked in the garage with the lights out for hours because Jimmy threw away an old apple. James saw it in the trash and asked who threw it away. We all responded it wasn't us, so he punished us together. We interrogated each other until Jimmy finally confessed. This made us not like him a little, but he was the youngest, so we gave him a break. In my past life, Christopher had convinced Jimmy to run away and that was when Jimmy went to live with his mom. I would try to stop that by getting them to play together. It might work.
We got home and I made them a snack while they did their homework. Today I made carrots, broccoli, and hummus dip. They liked it. After checking their homework, I told Christopher and Jimmy to go play catch while Caitlyn and I played with Barbie dolls together. I wanted her to stay a kid if she could too! I used to make clothes for the dolls and later for Caitlyn. Caitlyn was so small I could make dresses for her out of my sleeves! She had fun dressing up.
Maybe I should make some clothes for all my siblings, so they don't feel like I'm playing favorites. I could sell the clothing designs. That was a possible idea for the future. I had seen a lot of dress design videos and they seemed simple, but who knows how hard it is? I'll think about that as a possibility for later. For now, I will focus on non-dairy ice cream.
When my mom and sister got home, I took Amber to our room to talk to her. First, I asked her how her day was. She was bullied a lot at school because we were the minority in our city. South Texas was mostly Hispanic in population. Because we were white, we were picked on in school. Kids can be mean, but I just learned to adapt. My best friends, Victor and Laura were Hispanic. Victor even fought off the guys who would pick on me.
Amber told me she had a good day and her crush spoke to her. He was on the football team and in ballet. The middle school required the football guys to be in ballet to help improve their hand-eye coordination. It also helped them stay in shape. The girls in ballet loved it because they had strong guys to lift them.
I told her, "That's great, but don't focus too much on boys. You are still young and boys mature slower than girls. Right now, we should focus on school and get good grades so we can go to a good college." She rolled her eyes and replied, "Whatever!" lol!
Teenage girls! I told her, "Anyways, I was thinking of a way we might be able to make some money." She seemed excited. We always bought our clothes at clearance or secondhand thrift shops. She wanted name-brand clothes like the other girls in school, but my parents couldn't afford them. If we made our own money, she could buy it herself. She was very interested!
I told her about my lactose intolerance and non-dairy products including non-dairy ice cream. I informed her, "We have experience making ice cream and can practice making some at the shop. Once we get it right, we can try to sell the recipe to the franchise owners." Her eyes beamed and she was ready to help. Now, I would need to contact an intellectual property lawyer to get a consultation.
