Kelsey
After Lily and I were kicked out of the room we stood outside the door for a minute then decided to go see Dylan without Skye, so later when she could see him she can be alone if she wants.
"Wait your last name is Val?" I asked Lily as we walked towards the hospital.
"Valentine, yeah." She answered casually.
"Cool."
Conversation seemed to die after that, so I pondered out loud, "Wonder what they're talking about that's so important and secret we couldn't be there."
Lily shrugged and responded, "I don't know, and sadly we'll probably never know unless he tells her she can share if she wants to."
"The curiosity is gonna kill me." I said, since damn me and having to know everything.
She chuckled, "Well you better get used to it, cause that happens a lot around here." I dramatically sighed in response. We reached Dylan's room, Lily opened the door quietly and we slowly walked in. He was laying on the bed, a bunch of stuff hooked up to him and a giant wrapping around his wound. The heart monitor was barely going but I guess there wasn't more the doctors could do for him now. Lily and I pulled up a couple chairs and sat beside his bed to just kind of creepily stare at him.
"He doesn't look too good...." I murmured. Lily solemnly nodded in agreement. She reached out and gently laid her hand on his like the concerned friend she is.
"Come on Dylan.... Skye's almost murdering everyone here cause of this, she even sassed the boss to the point of nearly being fired. So hurry up and open your eyes for her." She quietly and firmly said to him. Suddenly the heart monitor started getting louder, meaning his heart was starting to beat properly. Both of us glanced disbelievingly between the monitor and each other.
"You think he heard you?" I whispered in shock.
"Maybe.." Lily responded in just as much shock. A doctor came rushing into the room, disbelief on his face.
"Impossible..." He muttered to himself, sounded a little suspicious to me but I temporarily ignored it. "He's supposed to be dead..." I faintly heard him say under his breath.
"What." I asked, defensive of my sister's mate since she wasn't here to do it.
He momentarily looked panicked but quickly composed himself and questioned, "I'm sorry, I don't understand what you're asking. Why did you ask me what?"
I glared at him and lowly growled, "You said he's supposed be dead."
"Ah.. You misunderstood me, see his wounds are so bad he should be dead. So it's impossible he's still alive, but here he is. Still breathing and heart beating." He defended, trying too hard to sound positive. I decided to take a whiff to see if he smelled like who I'm thinking, sadly the scent was different.
'You can play doctor all you want, but just know I don't believe that bullshit persona one fucking bit. And if you think of fucking hurting my friend, or ANY of my friends, I will help Skye in killing the real you.' I growled in his mind. He gave me a look that had a glare under a fake smile then left the room.
"What was that all about?" Lily asked, confused and not catching onto what I was so pissed about since she wasn't there before to see him at all.
"Don't worry about it. Dylan's getting better, that's all that matters." I replied, avoiding telling her the truth for now. Just until I can tell Skye and maybe the boss about my suspicions. We sat with Dylan for another five or so minutes and just as we got up to leave Skye walked in looking a little stunned.
"What happened?" Lily and I asked in sync.
She seemed to snap out of it, her expression turning firm as she responded, "Nothing. How is he."
"Uh.. Well, his heart rate picked up to normal speed for a little bit after mentioning you." I answered, understanding that she either can't or doesn't want to tell us what Boss said to her. She just stood awkwardly glancing at Dylan and around the room.
Lily smiled a little and stood up saying, "We'll be back at the pack house when you're done." She then lead me out the door. I looked back at my sister who went to sit next to Dylan and hold his hand, clearly waiting for the door to be closed. I shut the door behind us and when I turned back around I saw the doctor from before, looking shady and malicious. I shot a warning glare at him, he better not do anything. I followed Lily to the offices again for some reason, once we got there I understood why. A couple other agents lead me back into the boss' office and saw he was still on the screen, I guess waiting for me.
"Hello once again Agent Rose, I figured I should give you your first mission. Regardless of you having training or not, I have faith you'll be strong enough to do this without being taught the ropes. I need you to find out if there is a rat among us here at the agency." I was thoroughly surprised and taken aback by this.
"A-are you sure you should give me such an important mission? Shouldn't it be given to a more experienced agent like uh.. Fox or Val?" I stuttered, not knowing why a newbie like me was being given such a major mission.
"Are you doubting your abilities and my judgement?" He questioned.
"No! Of course not sir, but—"
"Good, I should hope you wouldn't refuse such a significant job. Once you find a suspect, follow them, get as much info as you can and report back when you have something. Good luck agent." He cut me off then hung up.
I stared blankly at the screen for a minute and muttered, "Shit.." I slowly walked out of the room, thoughts in my head whirling around like they were debris in a tornado.
"How'd it go?" Lily asked, startling me a little.
"Um.... Okay I guess... Am I allowed to tell you what I got told to do?" I responded, uncertain.
She nodded and said, "Yeah, unless boss specifically said not to tell a single person, but if he didn't that just means you can only tell people you completely trust."
I glanced around to make sure no one could overhear then whispered, "I have to find a rat in the agency, someone who shouldn't be here. I don't even really know what he meant by that.."
"Wow, pretty big mission for being your first one. Happens to all of us though, that's the boss making sure you can handle the stress' or not." Lily answered reassuringly. "You'll do great, don't worry. Now let's go to your pack house." She added, making a portal.
We jumped through and got greeted by Willow screaming, "THEY'RE BACK!!!!" Shit she's starting to scream half as loud as I can yell, god damn. We both chuckled at the little girl as we walked further into the pack house to meet up with everyone now that they knew we were here.
"Hey Beautiful." Drake greeted happily wrapping his arms around me. I returned the hug, smiling. "So how'd whatever you were doing go?" He asked, pulling away and holding my hand.
"Not bad, her teleporting attempt worked better than she thought it would have and Dylan's doing a little better." I answered.
"Despite that doctor thinking he shouldn't be getting better." Lily added. I frowned a little, wishing I could tell them what I thought about that whole situation. Unfortunately I have to wait to talk it through with Skye, especially since I haven't had the chance to tell Drake about the agency at all yet.
"Well, I guess it's a miracle that has the doctor baffled." Drake smiled, I put a smile on my face to agree with them. It hurts kind of lying to my friends but I guess it's for their safety...
"Anyways it's getting late, we should all get some rest so we don't feel dead tomorrow at school. Pretty sure our souls will be dead enough as it is just being at school regardless of how much sleep we get.." I stated jokingly. The others agreed with me, Lily went home and the rest of us spent half an hour forcing Willow to bed. I flopped on my mate's bed, exhausted from such a busy day.
"So, want to tell me about that secret place you've been going to?" Drake asked. I whipped my head to look over at him, surprised he knew about that without me even so much as hinting at it.
"How did— what the—.. How'd you know?" I asked dumbfounded.
He chuckled at me and answered, "Really Kelsey? I thought you'd know by now. I'm your mate, you can't hide anything from me. Least not for long if you somehow manage to." I blinked, my face probably saying 'what in the actual fuck'.
"Okay well, I got recruited for a spy agency and was being shown around a bit and had to talk to my new boss a few times. I got given a huge mission to find a rat among the other spies, no fricken clue how I'm supposed to manage that though.."
"You'll do it, probably within the next three days knowing you. Can I ask why you frowned when Lilith brought up the doctor?" Drake replied, raising a brow at me.
I smiled and responded, "You could, but I ain't gonna answer." He playfully rolled his eyes and sighed. He then kissed my forehead and said, "Alright. Goodnight."
I kissed his lips and replied, "Goodnight."
