I JIGGLE MY KEYS a little before they finally work and the door falls inward.
Chase is already there, much to my dismay, and I inwardly groan as I close the door behind me. He was lying on his bed, his stupid phone clasped in his hands like usual. I hang my bag over the back of my wooden chair and place my keys on the surface of the desk.
"How'd your first day go, roomie?" Chase smirks as he glances up at me. Wow he actually notices my presence for once, it's a damn miracle. I roll my eyes, opening the mini fridge lodged between our bedside tables and pull out a bottle of water I had stored in there earlier.
"Fantastic." I smile, overly-sweet at him as I twist the plastic cap of the bottle off. I close the fridge with my hip, "I think I accidentally joined a gang in my Good Behaviour class."
Chase instantly glances up from his phone and scoffs, "How did you accidentally join a gang?"
"Everyone just loves me." I shrug arrogantly and take a swig of my water. I kick my shoes off and sit down on my bed, pulling out my phone from my denim jacket at the same time the door swings open.
"Yo yo yo motherfuckers." Noah grins as he swaggers his way into the room, Levi following in behind him, and he perches on the end of my bed. "How'd your meeting with Sully go?"
"Sully?" I question, raising a confused eyebrow.
"The Headmaster." Noah explains as I nod in understanding yet still slightly confused, "So?"
"All rooms in Arlington and Emerson are full. So it looks like you'll be seeing much more of me in Elwood." I smile as Levi rolls his eyes and takes a seat on the navy blue beanbag, folding his arms across his broad chest, "Thanks for making me feel so welcome Levi. You seem so happy! Woo!"
"We have to throw you a traditional Elwood welcoming party." Noah exclaims as I instantly regret telling him. I shake my head and sip my water, "Come on, Hay. You're the first female Elwood resident and will probably be the only one. It's a historic moment."
I screw my face up, "I'm not really in the mood for partying right now."
"Please?" Noah grins brightly, "It'll only be a small gathering of my friends."
Turns out Noah's definition of a small gathering is the entire senior and junior male dorm and a few sophomores from Montgomery Hall. Apparently as he himself put it; everyone is Noah's friend.
The common room on the second floor of Elwood Hall was packed and how there was alcohol in here, I'll never know. The Sergeant, or what the guys like to call Mr Machado, a junior year chemistry teacher and the Resident Supervisor, left half an hour ago. He lives on campus and is in charge of Elwood Hall.
Music was playing through the built in speaker system, reverberating over the loud chatter. A very competitive game of pool was currently being played on the large green table and an even more competitive game of Uno was being played in front of me.
I was crushing my opponent.
"Eight" I throw down the blue card on top of the rapidly growing pile of colourful playing cars. I glance down, noticing I only had one card left, "Uno!"
A huge crowd of guys were surrounding the coffee table where Harrison and I sat. Harrison is a sophomore and apparently the Caldwell Uno champion, hence why there were actual money bets on who would win the game. If I wasn't so intent of winning, I would've laughed at the whole ordeal.
"Six" Harrison slaps his card down and waves his last card in my face with a cocky smirk. His eyebrows raise as he says, "Uno."
I roll my eyes, slamming my hand down on the second pile and sliding two more cards into my palm. The males standing behind me become restless as they peer of my shoulder at the two cards I had just picked up. I glance from my cards to Harrison, an evil grin appearing on my lips.
"Pick up two." I announce, placing my card down as Harrison's smirk slowly slips from his face, "And while you're at it, pick up four. Oh would you look at that, change colour to green."
Harrison's shoulders slump as the crowd surrounding becomes more and more restless
"Uno." I smile before placing the last green card down, staring right into Harrison's brown eyes, "Four."
The crowd erupts into loud, boisterous cheers as they start shoving and heckling Harrison. He slides down his chair in defeat as some guys reach around and hi-five me in congratulations.
"Thanks guys, but I'm getting a little thirsty from all this winning." I giggle as I stand up, from the comfy black sofa, grabbing my mug with a cat painted on it and heading towards the drink station that was set up in the corner on a plastic lawn table.
I was almost there when my shoulder collides with someone else and I stumble, turning around quickly to apologise only to realise it's Chase, so no apology needed really.
He cocks an eyebrow, "Having fun?"
"I think so." I shrug as I fold my arms across my chest.
"You seem to be fitting in quite well, Jones." Chase questions and I realise he's using nicknames now since we're officially roommates. Even thinking about that word gives me headaches.
"Well, that's because I'm incredibly likeable unlike some people." I drawl, looking directly at him as I speak with an accusing tone. Chase chuckles lightly taking a sip of his dark beer incased in a cold glass bottle. How can one look so hot just be simply taking a drink? Seriously, I need to know for research purposes.
He swallows and I can't find it in myself to look away from his prominent Adam's apple, "I'm likeable."
"Whatever helps you sleep at night, sweetie." I grin up at him as Chase rolls his eyes in yet another extremely attractive way. I huff and run my sweaty palms down the material of my black jeans, "Well, I'm going to grab a drink."
"Remember it's a school night, darling." Chase smirks at me as I shove past him, too sober to deal with his Chase-ness.
I wasn't drunk, but I certainly was tipsy. Because like my idiot of a roommate said, it's a school night and I know how to restrain myself. Okay, that's a massive lie, I completely have no clue how to do that but at least I was trying.
It was almost ten, which was the allocated time for lights out, and dare I say it; I was actually enjoying my time. That is except for the fact that Levi's sat in one corner for most of the night and just glared at me. I swear he wants to kill me and hand my body back to my mother as a Christmas present.
Noah had taught me how to play 8-Ball Pool before we completely annihilated the roommates from Dorm 106. Everyone else seemed to be having a great time, except for Levi that is.
Guys had slowly wandered back to their own dorm rooms and the large number of males in the room was dwindling slowly. A group of us had taken over the sofas and chairs, creating somewhat of an odd shaped circle. I hadn't talked to Chase since earlier in the evening, but I often locked eyes with him from across the room.
"Dylan, truth or dare bro?" Oliver, a petite boy from one of my neighbouring dorm rooms, asks the large, solid boy with a ginger buzz cut sitting uncomfortably in a blue plastic lawn chair. Dylan leaned forward as if he was challenging the question.
He answers, "Dare bro."
"I dare you to give Lady Elwood a lap dance." Oliver grins as if he had just come up with the most brilliant idea ever. Lady Elwood was now my official status in Elwood Hall which I wasn't that bothered with because it made me sound so fancy.
Dylan stands up as the song dribbling out of the speaker system in the common room changes to Let's Get It On and the crowd of boys left in the large room clap there hands and whistle. I can't help but smile as Dylan nears me, I was trapped on the black leather sofa between the arm and Noah so I had no way out.
I honestly wish I had some money so I could make it rain on Dylan.
He turns around, placing his hands on his hips as he moves along to the music. I was actually quiet impressed yet laughing at the same time at the ridiculousness of it. Everyone else was in hysterics as he placed his legs on either side of me and thrusted his hips towards me. I covered my beet-red face, leaning far back as possible.
When he was finally finished, the circle of boys erupted into applause as Dylan took a bow before returning to his chair.
Once everyone had calmed down from the exquisite show, it was Dylan's turn to pick.
"Lady Elwood, truth or dare?" Dylan questions as all eyes turn to me.
I cocky my head to the side and pause, "Dare."
"I dare you," Dylan starts as a cheeky, mischievous grin stretches across his lips, "To give Everett over there a big juicy kiss."
"That's her roommate bro, she can't do that." Noah steps in for me before I could. I mean, I wasn't surprised by the question but I just didn't know how to respond.
"Then drink." Dylan shrugs, "If you're a pussy."
A string of "oohs" pass through the awaiting crowd of drunk males as I narrow my eyes on Dylan rather circular face. I stand up suddenly, smirking confidently even though my stomach was bubbling with nervous energy.
"Fine." I state before spinning on my heels and making my way across the room. Chase and Levi were in a conversation, leaning back against the now empty pool table. I don't stop and keep my stride steady, sliding into the small gap between the two males who straighten their spines in shock.
"Jones? What are you doing?" Chase questions with a frown before his eyes glance at the crowd of boys who were all staring at us with big eyes, baited breathe and large, childish grins. Without thinking, I reach up and gently clasp Chase's jaw, angling it back to face me.
I shrug, "Like I said, having fun."
Before he can answer, I place one hand on his jaw and my lips to his. He goes stiff immediately under my touch and all I could hear was the boisterous cheers on the guys. I stand back from the kiss, Chase's face expressionless as ever as I smile and spin on my heels. The boys trip over each other as they raise their hands to the sky and a chorus of shouts explode through the room.
"Me next! Me next!"
