Hello, Bummer here.
It's been a while to say the least.
I haven't written for my previous project, The Between, for quite some time. And quite frankly, I may never do so.
I got demotivated to continue the story. I wanted to reach a point with the story in which it changed the story beats and shifted the setting from the medieval times to the present day. It was going to be cool and I would've been able to justify the weird "sci-fi" genre it had.
But it was too much for me to handle. I made the chapters too short, the novel was really slow-paced, I didn't set any clear goals or routes for any of the characters, even for the main one, and the story itself was, I have to admit, a bit childish. In a sense.
In short, it was too much for me and I decided to take a break from writing.
However, I've always planned to return to this space.
My skills (not to brag, although it may come across as that) in writing are, from what I can say, great as I've theorized, written, and gotten a lot of positive feedback from my peers and such.
Hell, even some of you guys approved of my writing with The Between.
So, I was always going to come back. I just needed some focus.
Now, after more than two years, I believe I've garnered enough skills, ideas, and even better writing techniques to return back to Webnovel. Especially with this.
If you read the synopsis, you know what you're getting into. Not everything but just enough. And I hope you enjoy it regardless.
Quick sidenote, though: This novel is named after (both main title and chapters) and partly influenced by music of the band, Low Roar, whose music is so emotionally tragic and beautiful that I just thought of this premise and sound based on their music.
Sadly, the frontman for Low Roar, Ryan Karazija, died in October of 2022. And so, as a commeration of their work and of their beauty, this novel is dedicated to them and both the essence and the family of Ryan Karazija.
I highly recommend that you listen to their music, especially the album this novel is named after, 0 (2014) and their self-titled debut record (2011).
With that being said, I hope you enjoy the novel:
Once in a Long, Long While.
