Synopsis

Chapter 1 - The ordinary Girl

Long ago our people called themselves humans. We've long given up that name. When the world was on the verge of destruction, we mutated. The genetic structure changed dramatically between individuals, but we stayed genetically compatible. Our genes became rewritten. Mutations could cause tails to form, and hair to become scales. My Dad and I didn't really change though. He says it's because his family lived behind lead. I think he's just made of lead… I mean I'm sure we're like everyone else. Dad says we're only good at thinking. Our family has been in charge of reconstruction and organization since what the grown people call the "Fall".

*Crack*

*Siren*

Right did I mention we have to deal other kinds of mutated creatures.

"Really that's the third time this month. Can the Deer stop sharpening there antlers on the walls? Lets just redesign the wall maybe we can prevent this from happening again."

My dad takes his job serious. He comes up with improvements all the time, and he never stops working. He doesn't even need sleep. I'm not sure how he does it though. Sleep is the best.

"LÄ« get up!"

"LÄ« where are you."

"LĪ!"

"LÄ«Ä«Ä«Ä«."

"LÄ«."

My mom gave me the name Lightning hence the nick name LÄ«. *eye roll* She says she saw a spark in my eye when I was born. Though if I get in trouble i get told I'm called LÄ« because I lie to much. I don't lie though

"did you clean your room."

"Yeeeesss," *nervous glancing*

"let me check."

"Noo, you know what I forgot so…" I rush through my door closing it shut.

Okay so I lied but what 16 year old doesn't.

"Did you finish your peas LÄ«?"

"Yess"

"Then why can I see them on your plate?"

"Dad, you know I don't like peas. Their eyes creep me out."

"The eyes have the best nutrition, and if you don't eat properly your sugar will drop."

So I might lie to much… But anyways in the new age many people stopped eating animals for one reason or another. Mine, as my dad tells me, is because of my health. My Dad's side has been ill since the accident. Our mutation which is still unknown caused us to be sick all the time. Our bodies reject animal proteins and our energy levels drop quickly.

My Mom side is really cool though. Like her, my two brothers have four arms, two fluffy ears on their heads, and twin tails. Their bodies are really strong. My Dad tells my Mom shes the bronze of the operation and he couldn't do much without her.

"LÄ« it's time for school"

"Daaad, I dont want to go to school. I'm breaking the 4th wall at the moment trying to narrate my own life."

"Really, LÄ«? You can do that on your off time. School is important. You're going to take over my position one day, and your education is important for the success of the community."

And while Im stomping out the house like every time.

"LÄ« don't forget your lunch," my dad states while passing me a backpack full of food.

"Dad do I really need to eat all of this?"

"Lighting dear, you know you have to eat your body weight and food everyday. Please don't give your dad a hard time."

"Yes mom"

Not only does my body not produce enough insulin; my body breaks down everything I eat at an accelerated rate. Eating is so boring though. I just want to dream all day long.

"So today we will be discussing the age of Mutation. 1,000 years ago a nuclear reactor exploded. The country feared terrorist attack and fired Nuclear war heads at its enemy. This led to a wide spread destruction when countries continued to retaliate. This led to extension of many life forms. Those that didn't parish mutated. This is believed to be caused from an anti-radiation formula that was commonly used during this period. It had not been tested on humans effected my radiation for ethical reasons.

Now, it is important to remember that though many electric grids were lost; we were able to reestablish power and reboot the spiderweb. Without such technology we would have lost many aspects of culture, technology, history, and other current courses. We still do not have complete connection to all civilizations nor do we know the conditions of such..."

Haha look I'm about to fall asleep. Class is so boring…

*crash*

*shriek*

The class screams "Aaaaaaahhhh"

"Really another student gets taken, and its the mayor's kid. I QUIT!"

"Huh the mayor's kid got taken that's funny. *Drool bubble pops* uhh?! I'm the mayor's kids.

"Daaaaaaaad!!!"

Well this is where my life ends. Death by Rooster. You know I still don't know why they look smaller in the photos. Oh right I'm about to Die. "Save me Mama!" Did you really think I want my dad's help? My mom is the Bronze so keep up. My mom has red hair on her pair of fluffy ears and tails which is striking compared to her dark skin tone. Sharp distinguishing black slits for pupils and brown eye. Her 6 foot tall stature and 4 muscular arms make her the talk of the town. Her muscle index is only improving as she's gotten older. She is 42 and can still lift 500kg with one arm. Some people call her a cougar. My dad says he had to fight off quite a bit of people for her, but have you seen my dad. He looks not a day over 20 and super skinny with a height of 5'7. There is no way he fought anyone. Im not sure if it was the brown eye, the brown curly hair, or his light skin tone that had my mom pick him up.
