"This fucking bitch, I never thought she is this good. She doesn't even have a rank. Argh, so frustrating!" Virgil said while scratching his messy hair.
'Oh right, I remember she left someone here,' he remembered.
Virgil turned around looking at Lorian whom he forgot. He was so immersed in his games that he didn't recall someone was kept inside his room together with him. When he faced Lorian, he saw a guy sitting straight, unmoving, and with his eyes closed.
Virgil was left speechless, how can this guy sit and sleep in that position? He approached Lorian and cracked a clap near his ears. Lorian, who was sleeping, woke up startled by the loud sound of Virgil's clap.
"Are you a monk?" he asked with curiosity.
"Hello sir Virgil, sorry for being disrespectful. I was watching behind you play your game and didn't notice that I had fallen asleep." Lorian apologized.
"No, stop calling me with honorifics. I'm just 18, and you looked older than me too. Calling me sir is cringe." Virgil explained before asking the same question, "Are you a monk?"
"Ha ha ha, yes I'll call you by your name then. I am not a monk. Why do you think that I am one?" Lorian calmly asked.
"Well, you sat straight and had fallen asleep. You looked like some Daoist monk meditating or something." Virgil answered.
Hearing this made Lorian chuckle while stopping himself from laughing out loud. Virgil looked at him, annoyed at his chuckles. "Why are you laughing? You wanna die?"
"No, I don't. Hahaha, it was just funny that you think of me as a monk. I'm not even bald." Lorian couldn't keep it at all and started laughing.
"Fuck you, man." Virgil cursed.
"I'll stop, I'll stop," Lorian said as he adjusted his breathing and wiped the tears from his eyes while he added. "I'm just accustomed to sleeping inside a cramped room. To save space for my sisters. That's why I'm accustomed to sleeping in a sitting position."
"You're crazy I tell you. What's next you can sleep while standing?" Virgil said sarcastically.
"Well to be honest with you I ca-,"
"Stop, I don't want to know anymore." Virgil stopped Lorian.
"You can say that it is a skill I acquired through poverty." Lorian proudly said.
Virgil shook his head. He ignored Lorian and went to his fridge, pulling out cold pizza dough. Placing it down a pan, Virgil added some bell peppers, pepperonis, chopped bacon pieces, mozzarella cheese, a good amount of tomato sauce, and the forbidden pineapple bits.
After he finished adding the toppings, he placed the pizza inside the oven. He sat next to Lorian once again. His eyes focused on him for some reason.
"Is something wrong?" Lorian asked.
"No nothing, I might be a little bit tired, that's all," Virgil answered as he decided to lie down on his bed.
"Virgil, I have been wanting to ask you about your eyes. What happened to them?" Lorian carefully inquired.
"These eyes? Well, you see, at a young age I deeply dove down into the NSFW of the internet. Now my eyes are as dark as the abyss." Virgil seriously replied.
Lorian was surprised, he had never heard anything like this before. "WTF!! I didn't know the internet could cause such a thing." Lorian panicked.
Virgil looked at him like he was looking at an idiot. "Are you ignorant or playing dumb? You wanna die?" Virgil threatened.
"Now calm down a bit. I'm just playing with you. And if your eyes are a sore spot for you, then I'm sorry for asking." Lorian apologized.
Virgil went silent for a moment. He leaned to his side, his back facing Lorian. Adjusting his breathing he released a deep sigh. His heart was lonely but his eyes couldn't express that.
"When I was young I was cursed by a devil. It took possession of my body and left a curse on my eyes. This eye is called the Eye of the Abyss. I can identify if something is a supernatural being or have hints of it. Nothing can trick my eyes even if they use other means to hide it. In exchange for this ability, I have violent and murderous tendencies when the moon is full. You must have heard from Ann before, that I'm not allowed to kill you. It was because I did kill somebody." Virgil recalled while shaking.
"I'm sorry for prying your life's story. But even though you have that unfortunate thing to happen to you, I still feel jealous. No offense though. It's just that I don't clearly remember my childhood. It is vague and blurry." Lorian shared.
Both Lorian and Virgil were quiet, the room encompassed by silence. Virgil closed his eyes and opened them back. He stood up from his bed. He went to the kitchen, turned the oven off, and pulled out a smoking pizza.
"How about a pizza," Virgil said, breaking the room's silence.
Lorian meekly smiled and nodded to Virgil. He sat on a chair near the table, as Virgil set the utensils. Virgil sliced the pizza in half and shared the other half with Lorian while the other was for himself.
They ate the pizza, quietly and slowly, enjoying every second they chewed. The pizza was satisfying, especially for Lorian who ate it for the first time. He wanted more, but he didn't want to say it out loud.
Virgil was about to clean the table but Lorian stopped him. "Let me do it. At least I could pay you back this way." Lorian volunteered.
Virgil thanked Lorian, he left the utensils on the table and headed back to his PC. Meanwhile, Lorian picked up the utensils, cleaned the table, and manually washed the dishes. He was quick and efficient at washing, not wasting a single drop of water and not leaving any smell of soap behind the dishes.
After washing, he rubbed the wet utensils with a towel, drying them. Now that he cleaned it well and placed it back on the rack, he went back to his chair and sat down. His eyes were absentmindedly looking at what Virgil was doing from a distance.
Noticing Lorian's gaze, Virgil turned his gaming chair in Lorian's direction. "I'll be up all night. You can use my bed so that you can sleep comfortably." after saying that he turned his chair back to his PC.
"Thank you then." Lorian lay down straight on Virgil's bed.
As Virgil was busy on his PC, scanning through different sites. He saw intriguing news about an arson case. His printer vibrated, printing out papers filled with important articles regarding the arson.
"What a short rest," he murmured while looking at the sleeping Lorian.
