I pet the Jivka to remind myself I wasn't completely on my own. I was without weapons as they had none sized for someone of my height and strength. The Kuniru was a truly mad creature. I could feel it's anger and hunger but that was all. Humans had long learned we could bond with other beasts than the Kira. However the Kira, Kegan, and Kindon were what gave us the ability in the first place.
Kira were prioritized since they were the easiest to bond with but any warrior who didn't want to find would seek out the Kegan. Even then good luck. Three out of five Kegan subspecies were only good for enhancing their Bonded. They were considered superior only because of the way they looked. If it wasn't for the fact high class warriors liked them as little more than pets the species would be long dead. Considering how hard they were to breed it was a very expensive endeavor to buy a Kegan egg.
