Rin
How can someone be so confident? You won't let me forget you? Ugh, this is beyond frustrating. I can't remember someone I've never known to begin with. I started feeling guilty the moment I saw how worried he was about me. I don't think I have ever had someone like that before. No one cared for me when I was hurt—no one to cry for me. No one comforted me when I was sad. I can't tell if what I am feeling is guilt or jealousy. Parker finally calmed his nerves and started asking a bunch of questions about the accident. I was wondering the same things. The new information only made me more curious. I was supposedly fighting with a man before I ran into the street. Prince Jay said I looked as if I was trying to escape the man. I have to find out what their relationship is. This could be troublesome.
"Let me show you around. I will take you to your room so you can rest. It would be best if you had it. You look terrible." Parker says with a cocky grin.
Of course, I look terrible. I was in a car accident yesterday, you prick. Parker gave me an unnecessarily long tour of our apartment.
"And the last stop on Parker's tour of awesomeness is your room." Parker opens the door at the end of the hallway.
My room is on the first floor near the laundry room and guest bathroom. It almost seems like I'm being hidden away. Eh, I'm sure I'm just overanalyzing things.
"This is my room?" I say, looking back at Parker, who is standing in the doorway.
Parker nods. "I have some more questions for the Prince and his valet. I will order us some takeout. Is there anything you are craving?"
"Pizza and beer," I say without hesitation.
Parker laughs and leaves, closing the door behind him. If this is my room, why is it so bare? It feels like a guest room. They have been living together for years. This isn't the room of someone comfortable in their own home. I was an assassin who moved constantly, and I had more personal belongings than this guy. Before I get too carried away by my thoughts, I have something more important to do. I am finding a hiding place for this gun. Surprisingly enough, the Prince forgot about me taking it. I'm glad everything worked out. I feel empty without some weapon. I prefer knives, but this is better than nothing. Now, where would be the best spot? The room has a bed, a small desk, a nightstand on both sides of a queen-sized bed, and a closet with few clothes inside. I think the nightstand would be the best option. I can get to it quickly at night. I walk over to the nightstand closest to the door and notice a phone charger and picture frame. Phone charger? Wait! Yeah! Where is this guy's phone? It wasn't with my stuff when we left the hospital. I'll have to ask Anon if he knows where it is.
I pick up the picture frame and inspect it. I guess not everyone hides keys behind pictures. The picture is of two small families in a group photo. Two couples, each with a small boy, are held by what I assume is their mothers. The two men look to be Identical twins. The children are very young. One is a newborn, and the other is a toddler. This must be Parker and Rin and their parents. I don't see any additional photos in Rin's room. Strangely, this is the photo he chose to frame and keep by his side. Doesn't he have a more recent picture? Anon did say Parker is my only living relative. I wonder when everyone died and how. After I tucked away the gun and snooped around the room some more, I decided to head back to the living room. Before I made it to the end of the hall, I could hear Anon, Prince Jay, and Parker talking.
"What??? Rin knocked out a man twice his size? That doesn't make any sense. Rin runs with me in the mornings, but he doesn't do any other kind of training. He has never been one for sports, either. What you described isn't something Rin would do. He is a big scaredy-cat." Parker is flailing his arms about trying to get his point across.
If Rin didn't have any athletic tendencies, then how is his body like this?
"So you're saying this is out of character for Rin?" Anon asks while glancing at Prince Jay.
"Yup, completely. You also said he was rude and snarky towards the Prince. That doesn't seem like him, either. He's well-mannered and patient. Even if someone does him wrong, he won't say anything. I am, however, the exception. He always hits me where it hurts. Seeing him so docile with me is unsettling." Parker looks confused and concerned.
I had no idea our personalities would be so different. I'm not sure how to handle this. I was hoping I could assimilate into Rin, but now I'm not so sure. I'm a decent actor, but I always choose personalities close to my own when undercover. Maybe I should give up on trying to be like Rin Grace.
"Hey, Anon, do you know what happened to my phone? When I was looking around my room, I saw a charger, and it made me think of it." I ask as I enter the living room.
Anon shakes his head and says, "No, there wasn't one found at the scene either. Maybe you left it at your job. You were wearing an apron with a café's logo on it. Would you like me to go ask?"
Hmm, I could have him do this for me, but I want to snoop around and ask questions. Anon and the Prince have been too involved in this as it is. The story behind my accident is too sketchy. I don't want either of them to get hurt.
"Nah, I can go myself. I probably should explain myself, too. You've helped me enough. You can throw away any guilt you have now. Thank you." I say as I grip Anon's shoulder and smile. Anon nods and smiles back.
"I'm going with you." Prince Jay declares as he removes my hand from Anon.
"What? Why? You can't be serious?" I say, scowling at Prince Jay.
"I'm dead serious. I know what the man you were fighting with looks like. He may be a co-worker. Don't argue. Let's go."
Prince Jay grabs my hand and pulls me out the door.
