The evening began to fall, and Gerald's team of women, who were dressing him, fixing his hair (he'd refused makeup), and shining his new shoes for the occasion finally finished. Rory smiled at their results. 'He looks like a proper king now,' he thought proudly. Gerald, for his part, thought it all a gigantic waste of time and resources. There were plenty of other things that these people could be doing for their families today.
But around the city limits, things had ground to a halt. Even the normal construction, schooling, and other things were all canceled for the day as the city held its first true holiday since before the Necromancer had stepped foot in it during the past year.
