Most of the town slept later the next day, except for the children, Lydia (who hadn't slept at all), and some of the people who had left earlier (usually the elderly). Some woke with hangovers, some woke with just a rush of energy with the gossip that the King had chosen a bride. For most, however, it was simply another day, and there were chores to be done, regardless of whatever the king decided to do or not.
Gerald didn't sleep and instead helped Lydia with the school. Witches' rituals usually last most of the night and Sage was definitely not going to come up and be ready to teach after some of the rituals of the Mid-Winter. It was as the children left as the time hit noon, that Lydia first had her conversation with the Necromancer.
