Chapter 9 - Incidents

Before going to bed, Ethan asked his sister to teach him a few spells. Unfortunately, it looked like Hannah's magic was pretty special, and it wasn't something that could be easily learned. However, Hannah wanted to teach him that, but…

"You don't have enough mana," Hannah said. "Maybe you will have enough in one week to learn the most basic spells I can use."

That was weird. Even though Ethan never mastered any big spells, he learned some simple ones, and those could be used with his current mana. However, now that Ethan thought about it, creating a link between worlds wasn't something one could do with half-assed powers. So, Hannah's magic was much more powerful than any ordinary magic he had used in the past.

That night, Ethan slept like a rock. Even the beds of the royal palace of the Hedo kingdom couldn't compare to the comfort of his home. That being said, Ethan still woke up before the first light and left his home to exercise his body. Before closing the door, Ethan heard his sister's snore.

"She does really never change," Ethan laughed. "Nuvian won't be able to have some good nights of sleep... and not for a good reason."

After reaching the park and confirming that he was alone, Ethan picked up his weapons from his inventory. He decided to train with them for a bit. The sooner he recovers that feeling while using weapons, the better.

"Come to think of it," Ethan suddenly muttered to himself. "I don't really know what this wristwatch is capable of, so being cautious of what I do may be a waste of time. Big sis said that this power is rare, but she didn't look surprised. So, I guess I'm fine with using it whenever I feel like it. Being cautious all the time will only dull my senses in the long run, after all."

Congratulations! You learned the skill Swordsmanship!

Weirdly enough, the very moment Ethan held the sword and assumed an attack stance, he received that notification. That was odd… maybe the trigger to learn skills was more different than he thought. However, the same thing happened when he held the spear.

Congratulations! You learned the skill Spearmanship!

Although Ethan learned those skills pretty fast, when he tried to mimic some sword skills, he didn't obtain a single notification. It was probably because those skills needed to consume some energy, and Ethan didn't know how to control his mana and stamina properly.

"What an amazing summoned hero I am," Ethan shrugged. "I defeated the demon lord and his army by myself, but I can't power up my attacks. Hero really is a cheat class."

In any case, as much as Ethan wanted to find a quick way to control that power, he wouldn't sacrifice everything for it. So, after training for ninety minutes, he returned home to have breakfast with his family. After cleaning himself, Ethan saw a sleepy Hannah sitting on the table and then put some cereal and milk in a bowl.

"You never change, do you?" Ethan said.

"Shut up," Hannah said with her eyes closed.

"Knowing you, I thought you wouldn't live here after getting married," Ethan said.

"I have to," Hannah answered. "Is too much of a pain to transport myself and Nuvian every night and then return every morning. I don't have that much mana, and I don't like the taste of mana potions."

"I see, so you have a home in another world," Ethan frowned. "Those words sound really stupid…"

"The castle is my home," Hannah said. "I'm a queen, so try not to die of jealously."

"A queen with a bed hair," Ethan smirked.

Michael and Evenly couldn't help but laugh a little. The family was finally complete after one year. In fact, it got a bit bigger. However, given Nuvian's position as a king, he couldn't visit or stay for long periods of time. Some things changed, but the current situation of the family wasn't half bad. During their breakfasts, Ethan showed himself many times in that current situation where Hannah was. He was also a long time ago a sleepy head, but not anymore.

"It looks like you really plan to attend that school seriously," Michael said. "Be careful, son. It has been a while since I saw or heard anything happening there, but it is a good idea to keep your guard up. That being said, you probably don't need to hear that from me. You are the hero of another world."

"No, I welcome all types of warnings and advice since I'm unfamiliar with the situation on Earth," Ethan said. "What did exactly happen in the school that I need to know? Also, considering that this school is directly monitored by the government, isn't there some kind of uniform?"

"Kids like you don't like rigid rules like that," Hannah said. "So, in order to stay on their good side, they pay you and even let you wear the clothes that you want. Not to mention the things about going to the school only three times a week."

"As for the incidents that happened there…" Michael said and then sighed. "A group of kids attacked a new student, and almost… that kind of thing happened a few times after that, but the teachers managed to control things before it could get serious. Fighting without the supervision of a teacher is forbidden, so the troublemakers are in a special prison."

"Well, that didn't surprise me," Ethan said. "We are talking about teenagers here, and there are always the guys who become too prideful due to their strength and those who let the blood rush to their heads."

Michael and Evelyn couldn't help but show worry after hearing that. Ethan was talking as if such incidents were beyond him or simply trivial matters. They heard many stories about what the summoned heroes had to do to survive and save other worlds. Still, they didn't want to believe that Ethan had experienced all that.

"You two worry too much," Hannah sighed. "We can't pretend that Ethan didn't change, but at the core, he still is the same person. He won't have time to get involved or cause problems at school. Did you forget that one of those things is at the school?"

"One of those, huh…" Michael frowned and then rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "Somehow, I can imagine Ethan forgetting all about us and deciding to live at the school because of that."

"Ethan, make sure not to skip your meals," Evelyn said, a bit worried. "Brush your teeth after them and sleep at least seven hours per day. You are still growing, after all."

"What are you talking about?" Ethan sighed. "Speak in proper terms… what am I going to find at school?"

"That is for us to know and for you to find out," Hannah smirked.
