Chapter 1 - Unexpected New Life

'I know unexpected things happen in life all the time.'

The whole of Raydon's life has been like this.

'But I never thought that the most unexpected thing that could happen to me would be after my death.'

He looked around, his eyes wide with surprise.

He never believed there was an afterlife, but even if he did, he wouldn't have thought that his destination after death would look like where he is now.

But still, he didn't care much because the most surprising thing was not where he was but what he was seeing right now.

''Now, this is unexpected.''

***

It was one of those sunny days with not a single cloud in the sky. Even though it was early morning, there were many vehicles on the wide, two-way road.

Typically, despite the constant passing of cars on the road, the peaceful morning was not disturbed by the sound of these cars' electric engines.

However, today, there was a different exception.

Unlike other vehicles, there was a very old model truck on this road, which caught attention with its engine screaming like a beast as well as exceeding speed limits.

The truck driver, who was disregarding traffic rules as if he didn't care about his own or anyone else's lives, was a young man in his late twenties.

The young man's pitch-black hair was blown by the wind coming through the truck window, and the morning sun never seemed to be enough to tan his sickly-appearing skin, which was as white as snow.

Even though his swollen and reddened eyes showed he hadn't slept in days, the young man never took his eyes off the approaching cars on the opposite road.

Soon after, the young man found what he was looking for, as a smile appeared on his face, and he said excitedly.

'' It's here.''

His target, a gold-colored vehicle speeding in the opposite lane, shone so brightly that even a blind man could see it. He stepped on the gas and accelerated even more as if testing the truck's speed limit.

When the time was right, he shouted and steered the truck into the side lane.

''Let's get the sh*t out of him, truck-kun.''

The next moment, with a loud crash, the truck collided with the gold-colored car.

Before losing consciousness, Raydon wondered why his body was flying through the windshield despite wearing his seat belt, but he soon stopped caring because his past began to flash before his eyes like a film strip.

Raydon was a 27-year-old man who had grown up in an orphanage and had no family. Because there were so many people like him where he grew up, he had never seen the love that only a family could provide. That's why, since he was a child, he's been an attention seeker. This characteristic feature led Raydon to pursue his dreams of becoming world-famous and rich.

The first thing that came to mind to make this dream a reality was VR games, which have captured the attention of the entire world and are constantly evolving day by day.

He spent a long time doing everything he could to succeed in every game he played, mastering every possible class in the VR world and learning every single technique, even surpassing human capabilities. And in the end, he achieved far more than the fame he desired, rising to the position of a god, which only one person can hold in the game world.

But as hard as it is to rise, it is easy to fall from there.

Naturally, Raydon's actions to accomplish his goal had also earned him the ire and hatred of many people in addition to the money and attention he sought.

Raydon initially disregarded those who wished for his demise, but eventually he came across the person he couldn't ignore.

This person indeed had enough power to destroy Raydon.

Unlike Raydon's money and influence, which came solely from the gaming world in which he played as a solo player, this person was supported by a slew of corporations and powerful people he knew in real life.

Raydon was ultimately unable to deal with this behemoth on his own and gradually lost everything he owned. Even the people he trusted the most betrayed him one by one.

He was eventually barred from all games around the world due to rumors of him cheating.

Meanwhile, while everyone thought Raydon would be completely destroyed, all of this was just another game for him.

Raydon was a competitive individual who hated to lose and would go to great lengths to succeed. That's why he bought an old-fashioned truck with all the money he had left and started making plans for the last game he was going to play.

Last and everlasting…

At least, that's what he thought.

''Hey, someone call an ambulance right now.''

''Man, I don't think the ambulance can help after this accident.''

''Let's go check it out, maybe someone is still alive.''

''Be careful, this is an old model truck, and leaking gasoline can cause an explosion.''

''I haven't seen a car accident in a long time. Who drives a car this old in the first place? Without automatic safety measures, he would undoubtedly lose control.''

While everyone's attention was drawn to the car accident in front of them, a body lay motionless in the middle of the road not far away.

This person lay motionless for a while on his back, then turned to his side, as if seeking a more comfortable position, used one hand as a pillow for his head, and began to sleep soundly.

But he must have been disturbed by the sounds around him, because not long after, he awoke with a frown and angrily murmured.

''Hey, what's with all the noise? Please allow me to sleep a bit longer.''

He was about to fall asleep again when his closed eyelids suddenly opened, revealing his dark brown eyes, which were filled with confusion.

''What am I doing sleeping in the middle of the road?''

He stood up from where he was lying and looked in the direction of the voices, and when he saw the chaos, he began to recall recent events.

''Holy sh*t, am I still alive? ''
