Anirudh stood afar as he saw Vidhi fading away behind the doors of the basement room. The Vervain and the runes made the room a protective shield and the moment she walked inside, the sire bond that he had, broke temporarily making his heart twitch in pain.
His entire body craved for her presence.
Anirudh took a deep breath and rushed back into the master bedroom. The air still smelled like Bondita, the sheets reeked of her fragnance.
Anirudh sank down on the chair and pulled the old handwritten manuscript.
The windows were covered with heavy blind curtains making it impossible to judge the time of the day or night outside. Anirudh felt restless and flipped through the ancient yellow pages one after the another... focusing on the remedy of their present condition.
It's been almost an hour and the intercom suddenly buzzed shredding the veil of his concentration.
He received the phone.
"Yes Bondita."
"How long?"
A sweet voice rang in his ears. For a moment he felt as if thousands of nameless flowers are pouring their nectar in his ears. .
"I little more. I think I found something."
"Really?"
"Yes. Atleast some answers... Although very vague."
Anirudh let out a sigh.
"Tell me. Please."
Vidhi pleaded.
"It says I'll have to make you bleed."
There was silent on both sides for a few moments as Vidhi spoke in a low soft voice.
"Then do it. I'm not scared."
"It's not that easy. There are implications."
Anirudh remarked.
"What implications? Tell me... I'm listening."
Anirudh paused for a while arranging his words.
"The book says it's a rarity that the sire bond gets reversed." He paused.
"In our case, we both are equally affected. But, I'm getting controlled by you... So, it says that if I can make you bleed without hurting you physically, then the sire bond would weaken."
"Making me bleed without hurting me physically...! How do you do that?" Vidhi's voice was grave and thoughtful.
"I don't know Bondita... Still trying to figure out."
"And, what about my control over you?" She asked again.
"Well, there is nothing much that's written, but it says it's I feed on you than I'll get a share of whatever powers you possess. And hence it would neutralize the effect of your power on me."
Anirudh's voice broke at the last words.
"But, I don't want to feed on you Bondita."
"We'll see about that." Vidhi murmured.
"I'll waiting Barrister Babu. Come and take me once you figure out things."
She hung up the intercom without saying a goodbye making Anirudh crave for more.
He closed the book and shoved it across the table.
'How do I make her bleed without hurting her physically... Without cutting her skin!' He relayed the question in his head and suddenly his eyes shone in excitement.
He quickly grabbed the intercom and pressed the dial button.
"Bondita... I think I have a great idea."
Anxiety rippled in his tone.
"What?"
"Tell me something... When was the last time you... I mean... You bled?"
Bondita was quiet for a moment and Anirudh felt a soft chuckle on the other end of the receiver.
"You mean when was the last time I had my periods?" Vidhi remarked playfully.
"That would be two weeks ago..."
"Oh."
"Um wait, so your great idea was to wait for my natural bleeding to start? Are you kidding me!!! That would be two more weeks."
Vidhi almost yelled.
"Anirudh Roy Chowdhury, if you don't figure out ways in the next one hour, I'll come out of this room and then we'll complete what we started. You have no order what I'm feeling right now... I'm feeling a surge... As if on fire... " Vidhi paused.
"And I feel the only way to calm me down is you drinking from me to release the pressure surge... Anirudh, I can't explain this feeling... Every body part of mine is craving for your touch... I've never felt so desparate!"
A sensuous tingle coursed through Anirudh's body as he heard her speak.
"Very soon, Bondita... Very soon."
He hung up the intercom and buried his head in his palm, resorting to deep thinking.
There has to be a way out!
As time raced, Anirudh's restlessness to be with Vidhi became unbearable. He has left the bedroom and was pacing back and forth in the large dining hall with a half empty glass of Bourbon in his hand.
This was his seventh glass!
Ideally, he wouldn't feel a thing as alcohol apparently can't lay it's charm on vampires. But, tonight was different.
The sire bond was inciting the humanistic sides in him. In the last few hours, he had felt the most vulnerable in the last hundred years.
He was scared of this new change, and the seventh glass was having its effect on him making his desparation unassailable.
He kept the glass on the table and rushed out of the hall with an immediate urgency.
He had to meet his Bondita, take her in his arms, and there was nothing that he would tolerate to be in his way, not even his judgement!
Anirudh's hand pressed gently against the cold glass of the window, before sharply recoiling in pain. His hazel coloured eyes peered into the darken room and scrutinised the window that bared his way. Ever so slightly etched into the wooden frame and glass panes were faint runes that no mortal eyes would be able to perceive, even if they had been looking for them.
Smirking to himself, he both applauded and dismissed the preparations that he himself had so elaborately designed. But as always, it was never enough. While the runes of the old tongue had innate power on their own, they also relied on their will of their inscriber. And, at that moment all Anirudh wanted was to be with Vidhita.
Closing his eyes, he reached out to her with his mind as he whispered her name so that only she would hear. Vidhita has probably fallen asleep. Hearing her rise from her slumber with a startled gasp, he whispered her name once more. Again, he heard her gasp, but not out of fear, but instead out of excitement and anticipation.
As he slowly opened his eyes, Anirudh saw Vidhi standing in front of the window. As if on cue, the clouds parted for the moonlight to shine upon her ethereal beauty. Her pale skin was flawless, save for the soft darkness under her sleepless eyes, as her long brown locks framed delicate features. Her greyish brown eyes shone brightly as any of the night stars, as her full red lips could barely contain her smile as she gazed upon her expectant visitor.
"I was dreaming of you!" Vidhi smiled.
Barely able to contain his own smile, Anirudh drifted away from the window in order to let her unlatch the door and come out of the room. She took a little time, making him impatient.
"Open the door, Love!"
He hushed in a throaty voice.
Hearing her giggle, he knew she was blushing as he could hear the blood rush to her cheeks. Returning to the window, he slowly indicated towards the lock on the window, before pressing his hand against the glass which made the runes glow faintly in resistance.
Slowly retracting his hand, he winced in pain as steam rose when the frigid cold air made contact with the burns on his palm that quickly healed. He heard her gasp in shock as her hands quickly covered her mouth to muffle the sound while her eyes swelled red with tears she fought back. Vidhi had opened the door and was standing infront of him.
Cursing to himself, he hated to see her in pain. More precisely he hated seeing her in pain because of such an arrogant action on his part.
Once she was finally standing out of the room, she clung to him as though her very existence depended on him. Burying her face into his chest, she wept quietly as her body shook ever so slightly while her hands held tightly to his cold clothes.
Gently stroking her hair, he lightly planted kisses on her forehead until her sobs subsided. With a single hand, his fingers delicately traced up her neck to her chin, lifting her head so that she could meet his gaze. Her teary eyes were a mix of emotions. Of sadness. Of love. Of devotion. Of guilt. But there was no hint of fear. At the very least, there was no fear of him.
"Don't cry... Please." He kissed her again.
"Why did you burn your hand?"
"I didn't realise... Sorry!"
He cupped her face gently in his hands.
Smiling softly, he leaned in and kissed her scarlet lips, feeling her melt into his arms. Slowly his kissed a trail from her lips and across her jawline, and with every kiss, she let out the faintest of whimpers. Her eyes were shut as she was lost in a delirium of ecstasy, as her hands became entangled in his silky dark hair. Her whimpers slowly becoming soft moans as his lips traced along her neck, while his fangs danced across her soft skin.
"Let's go "
He scooped her up in her arms and slowly walked back towards the bedroom.
"You won't do the Flash thing?" Vidhi asked.
"No... You said I don't like it."
"But, it would have saved us time." She whispered coyly.
"Don't worry." Anirudh smirked.
"I'll make up for all the time lost. Promise!"
