Iris pouted reading Cane's answer, but she was not done yet, as she pressed on and nudged his arm again when he was about to close his eyes. She became bolder since he started letting her get her way.
"What if there is another realm and there is a person just like you and all the people that you know, what do you think the 'you' in a different realm is doing right now?"
Cane indeed didn't lose his patience when he listened to her, but it didn't mean he would always give her an elaborate answer.
"Sleep, Iris. It's midnight. You need to wake up early in the morning."
Iris looked sullen. "You sound like Hanna," she muttered to herself, and of course, Cane could hear that, but he simply put his warm and big palm over her eyes, coaxing her to close them, so she could fall asleep.
"Say, if you can get everything you want, what do you want to have?"
"Happiness," Cane said simply. He said it very casually, as if he didn't even have to think about it.
