Cane knew what he was doing and saying, especially things like how to play with people like Haco. The sorcerer had nothing. No money, no place to stay, no magic stones to boost his power, nothing.
"It can be your word against the special emissary of the King." Cane showed him the golden stamp he received from the King.
Seeing that, Haco cursed under his breath. "Shit! Damn you, Cane! You trapped me! How can you scheme against me?!"
Haco knew the meaning of the golden stamp and the privileges that its holder would get. Its holder's authority would be almost absolute, only the King himself who could deny it. He could use the royal warriors and all the resources as he deemed fit.
"How can you get that damn thing?!" Haco was dumbfounded. Now, he was conflicted, though it was very clear for him that he couldn't go against Cane now, still to support him, it could only mean digging his own grave deeper.
