Cane didn't really intend to let Iris walk alone in the middle of the night, especially after the second attack of the monster. His conscience wouldn't allow him to do that, but he was not going to reveal himself, as he followed her in his wolf form.
He watched how frustrated she was and heard every murmur that left her lips, also how she called him annoying.
Probably, if it was not for Lou, Iris would have never known that Cane was actually keeping an eye on her from the shadows.
However, the merchant knew no boundaries, as he grabbed Iris' hand and forced her to stay when she was about to leave and before Cane's mind was able to decide what he was going to do, his body moved first.
Cane let out a dangerous growl, as he emerged from the dark, his golden eyes shone brightly and a glimpse of him was enough to send his message crystal clear. The beast was ready to attack if he didn't back away.
