Iris felt like they were robbing Lou by taking these many stones from his place, more so she was not used to acting like this, thus she felt guilty, adding that to the fact Cane didn't show any indication that he would search for the pet.

 

She tugged at Cane's sleeve. "Don't you feel like we are stealing these stones?" She asked hesitantly.

 

"No, this is an abandoned cave," Cane replied simply. "Find more."

 

Iris grimaced, but she was curious enough to see how Lou would react when he learned that Cane robbed him right under his nose, under his own roof.

 

All her life, she had struggled to survive under her brother's torture and tried to help the slaves as much as she could, but she didn't know you could fool others like this with wordplay and Cane was really good at it.

 

Oh, the more Iris saw it, the more Cane seemed undaunted and even a little bit… brazen.
