Lucian felt like a leaf gliding with the wind free and unrestricted not knowing it's destination
"Is this how it feels when you die" he thought as his consciousness was starting to fade into nothingness
"No" A sharp and cold voice answered Lucians question reverberating all around him
This frightened Lucian because as soon as he heard that voice he no longer felt like a leaf that was gliding freely with the wind but weirdly like clay , waiting to be sculpted by its maker.
"What is this ? , who are you ? , what do you want from me ?" Flurry of questions came out of Lucian , he didn't know how he still had conscience or how he was talking because if there is one thing he was sure of , it was that he had no body.
But that was the last thing on his mind right now if he even had one at the moment "?" even more questions were pooping out for Lucian that he had no answers for , the only answer he had for sure was that these questions only started popping up the moment he heard that voice
"Do not be frightened child , i mean you no harm" the unknown entity spoke again , only this time slightly gentler
"Who are you ?" Lucian asked once more
"Is this not the afterlife?" he continued
"Are you God ?" Lucian asked but as soon as he did he scoffed "No you can't be i never believed in God so why would he talk to someone who didn't believe in him ?"
"Why did i start having so many questions the moment i heard your voice ?" he asked with expectation hoping that whoever or whatever spoke to him could answer these questions
Silence was what greeted Lucian he did not know for how long this silence would last but he waited patiently hoping that by showing restrain in his desire for answers he would be given some
"Who am I ? I am Me" the entity finally spoke and answered Lucian
"Is this the afterlife ? it is not" it continued
"You are correct i'm not a God as there is no such thing , at least by your races definition of a God that is" the entity told Lucian
"As for why you have so many questions the moment you heard my voice , it's because you are no longer in the Cosmic River waiting to become a part of Creation once again" the unknown entity answered every single question Lucian asked although pretty vaguely but it was better than nothing
Although the answers Lucian received were vague he was still able to understand something right away , whoever was speaking to him was not human and not a God but something similar considering he said he was not a God by our standards of one
"You said i'm no longer in the Cosmic River , is that where people go when they die ? " asked Lucian curiously
"All living and conscious things go to the Cosmic River after their death , awaiting their next task given to them by Creation itself" The entity responded only this time Lucian unlike the first time was able to pick up the different tone this entity used when talking about this being if it even was one called Creation , it spoke with reverence
"So why did you take me from the Cosmic River am i being punished?" He was really curious now , no fear was present at the moment Lucian knew he had no control here and that the entity meant him no harm , if it did then what was the point of answering his questions
"No greater being would dare punish a soul that is awaiting it's next task , i took you out of the Cosmic River because i was simply curious" answered the entity
"About what i'm nothing special sure i was born slightly stronger than most but there is no way that's what made you curious , you've probably seen billions of them floating about " asked Lucian
"You're right , it's not"
"My curiosity was sparked not by your strength or your character but by your desire" the entity stated gently
"Desire?" asked Lucian
"I don't remember having any unique desire that any other human wouldn't have had at some point in their life" he stated confused at the entity's reason for abducting him
"You speak the truth child , but your desire is special"
" I do not know how or why but this singular desire has been with you through every new task Creation had given you throughout the eons perhaps even longer than that , and it has become strong enough where even i could sense it" the entity answered with a clear curious voice this time one that even surprised itself
"And what desire is that if i may ask ? is it power or pleasure perhaps ?"
Please don't let it be pleasure , please don't make me turn out to be some perverted freak of nature that even caught the attention of a God like being ! Lucian clasped his hands mentally and prayed to no one in particular
"No" said the entity while slightly snickering
"It's freedom" it said
"freedom ?" asked Lucian "Forgive my rudeness grate being but although I didn't have the greatest life out there I sure as hell wasn't struggling to the point that my strongest desire would be freedom"
The entity listened to Lucians answer and was disappointed that the child was not honest with himself
"Then why did you wish to have freedom in your next life child?" he asked
"What ? when did i..." As Lucian was about to retort the entity's question he suddenly remembered his last thought before he died "if there is a next life , hope this feeling comes with it"
He remembered when laying on the ground bleeding waiting to die the only feeling he had was freedom , he felt like the restrains around him were unlocked and he could finally stretch and move as he liked , it was a weird feeling considering he was dying
But now that he is here talking with this being remembering those last moments again he could now sense something he could not before , aside from freedom he felt joy like he was happy to leave his body why was that ?
The entity watched Lucian ever so curiously wondering why this had happened , there were other anomalies before but none quite as unique as this
"Do you understand now why you are special?" asked the entity
Lucian nodded "It's not me that's special not Lucian in particular but my soul the soul that had lived through multiple lives and completed multiple tasks for Creation" he said
"You are correct" stated the entity
"Creation has no flaws it creates exactly what it want's to create everything has a purpose"
"I can only guess that your soul is far older than the rest floating in the Cosmic River and that you have been given a blessing for fulfilling creations tasks for so long"
Lucian was shocked , how old is his soul for it to be considered older than all the rest , he didn't want to guess
"What do i do with this blessing?" asked Lucian
"Nothing" interrupted the entity
"Your blessing in human tongue is what you would call a flare" it said
"A flare ? how is that a blessing?" asked Lucian curiously , the only thing a flare was good for was signaling
"I am not sure young one but i suspect your blessing is not for you to use but for beings like me to see" the entity said gently
"What for if i may ask?" inquired Lucian
The entity took a bit of time to think about Lucians question it truly did not know why but if past experiences of how other beings like himself dealt with oddities like this then he had somewhat of an answer to give
"I do not know , perhaps it's so we can give you a real blessing" it said back to Lucian
