Camrynne walked outside the museum quietly, leaving her friend inside.
Shane was confused but before she followed her friend behind, her eyes focused on the portrait and shrugged it off.
Her eyes kept glancing at Camrynne, who was focused on the road. It was the first time seeing her in deep thoughts because of the portrait.
Suddenly, she recalled the tears rushing through her cheeks a while ago.
And Shane stared deeply at her and worries were stuck inside her head, recalling the tears that rushed through her cheeks a while ago.
Never in her life seeing a shed from her face but now, it was different and she couldn't perceive the reason.
Maybe it was an effect of her misery towards the father and daughter relationship all over the years.
Or the pressure that was given by her father as a successor to their company.
'Had she seen herself to the mysterious Prince in the portrait? Is their life related?' she thought to herself, thinking of a reason from her tears.
"I know that look, Shane…" Camrynne finally broke the awkward silence between them.
She could feel the eyes all over her face while driving and knew that her friend was bewildered from what happened a while ago.
"You cried, Rynne. It was my first time seeing you cry so I was thinking if it was serious."
"I don't know why I cried from that portrait…"
"Well, what do you feel about that portrait?"
"It feels like we're connected and it feels weird from the moment I saw that man in the picture."
"Weird? What do you mean?"
"I can't explain but I feel weird about the portrait of that prince."
"We could never understand the life of that mysterious prince. Sometimes, there's a story behind it… Like your father."
"What's the connection between my father and the portrait?" She laughed when Shane used her father as an example, as if she knew her father.
"Well, you know what I mean. If you want answers, then seek for answers. If you have questions, search for the answers."
Her friend provided her a point to solve her query inside her mind… So she gave her a big smile and Shane knew what's on her mind.
"Anyway, let's stop that curiosity inside your mind…"
They both laughed as Camrynne felt at ease whenever she was with her friend.
"Fine! Anyway, the semester ends soon, where do you want to go for Christmas break?"
"Lately, I'm obsessed with the Chinese dynasty and I've been thinking about visiting China."
"China?"
"Yes. Since our first semester in our third-year college is soon to end. We can spend time in China for Christmas break. Are you down?"
"Of course… We'll plan that after final exams."
After a few minutes of travel, they reached the fast food nearby and she parked in front of the place.
It was also their secret, to eat fast food even though her parents didn't allow them.
"It's been a year since we ate fast food. My comfort food!" Camrynne said whilst her arms opened wide and swung forward to embrace herself.
Shane facepalmed from her friend's behaviour and everyone was looking at her.
Hence, she pulled her closer, and hastily, they went inside the fast food chain straight to the counter.
"Hey! You didn't even let me embrace my favourite fast-food chain!"
"You are being crazy, Rynne. It's just hunger so let's order our food."
She pouted, sulking beside her but when checking the menu on the board, her eyes lifted, and walked towards the counter.
"Good morning, Miss Camrynne, may I take your order?" the crew asked politely.
She sighed in defeat, even though the fast food chain crew knew her. 'Give me a break…'
Then, her eyes twitched, and couldn't even smile at the crew. And at the right time, Shane patted her shoulder and butt in.
"We'll have two orders of spicy chicken, two large fries, and a coke. Also, can you add two double-cheese burgers? Do you want to add, Rynne?" Her friend asked,
"Maybe… a sundae." She mumbled before leaving the counter and walking toward the empty seat.
Thereafter, Shane placed their food on the table and crouched in front of her. She sighed in frustration and grabbed her fries.
"I can't believe that one of the crew wanted your number… what a shameless man," Shane uttered.
Camrynne saw the worry drawn to her face. She just sighed and helped Shane to place their food on the table.
"I'm sorry, Shane, if I always involve you in trouble."
"We're best friends and I can't let that incident happen to you. We'll protect each other, you know that right?"
A smile formed into her plump lips as she responded with a nod.
However, she couldn't forget what happened in middle school where she almost got kidnapped by her stalker.
Luckily, there were police nearby, and arrested the stalker immediately. After the incident, her security became tight.
But it changed when she was in college since her father taught her tough self-defense to protect herself.
"Anyhow, let's just eat before it gets cold."
After they ate, Camrynne insisted on driving her home but Shane's family driver came to pick her up.
