Liu's anger wasn't without reason.
As the quickest and most rapidly advancing Fallen Magic on the Aegean Continent, Blood Magic, while pursuing shortcuts, inevitably suffered from the disadvantage of having too weak power. This could be seen from the several battles where Liu had encountered Blood Mages. At low levels, the ranged suppression abilities of Blood Mages could only be considered marginally better than those of a Divine Archer… of course, a Blood Mage was definitely much stronger than a squad of Divine Archers.
In the modern warfare of the Aegean Continent, the role of a Mage was to use large-scale, high-end magic to bombard the enemy's most expensive troops, causing substantial casualties, and thereby turning the tide of the battle.
