"What happened?" Liu Zhenhan fluttered his palm in front of Helen; Helen was gazing at him as if she was in a trance.
"It was so beautiful!" Helen clutched his hand; her entire body nestled in Liu Zhenhan's embrace. Even though she did not understand the meaning, she could feel the surging power of the war song from his voice. "You were singing about a brave knight waiting for his lover, a beautiful young lady. The love between them is as eternal as a blazing fire."
Only then did Liu Zhenhan remember that he had just sung in his native tongue.
"This is the power of the Spirit Communication War Song!" Helen exclaimed excitedly. "I hadn't expected you to grasp the essence of the war song so quickly. As long as you concentrate your energy and pour your emotions into the song, just like you just did, summoning a high-level Magical Beast would be an easy task for you."
"Really?" Liu Zhenhan found it strange. "Can other songs have the same effect? Let me try it with Bemont Universal Language."
He quickly translated the lyrics in his mind into the Bemont Universal Language and belted out the song with his husky voice.
Helen shook her head, puzzled.
"Why can I understand the lyrics now, but I don't feel the same strong 'song power' swirling around in the air?" Helen knitted her beautiful eyebrows together.
"Damn it!" Liu Zhenhan was also confused.
"Natural Soul Singers are always accompanied by miracles." Helen looked at Liu Zhenhan with a hint of envy.
"Bullshit!" Liu Zhenhan sniffed his snotty nose, feeling relieved as his nostrils were becoming bigger, providing easier respiration and amplifying his singing. Was this supposed to be a miracle?
"Dear Richard!" Helen had corrected his use of vulgar expressions countless times. As a noble shaman in the Orc race, even for an honorary title, such coarse language surely would become a laughingstock. Liu Zhenhan's words turned Helen's face ashen.
"My girl!" Liu Zhenhan immediately apologized. "My sweetheart, don't be like this. It was my fault! Can't I admit it? I'm not a person, I'm a beast!"
His usual tactics involved acting coolly and feigning helplessness.
Despite everything, Helen couldn't resist and started laughing.
"Richard!" Helen lectured. "Scolding someone as a 'beast' isn't severe in our race because we Orcs are beasts. However, if you want to insult yourself lower, you should call yourself a despicable goblin."
"Oh, so, I am a goblin! A despicable goblin!" Liu Zhenhan immediately conceded.
"You are a pearl chicken from the vegetable patch!" Helen covered her mouth, chuckling secretly.
"I am a pearl chicken!" Liu Zhenhan repeated with a solemn face. Inwardly, he was laughing. So this is how nobles insult. Damn it.
Helen's laughter became increasingly jovial. On her charming face, a hint of alluring temptation was hidden in her solemnity.
Liu Zhenhan's heart fluttered as he watched.
"Don't do that, Richard!" Helen felt Liu Zhenhan's force was that of a Magical Beast.
"Noble etiquette doesn't allow such a boorish treatment of a lady!" Helen wanted to slap him but couldn't bring herself to do it.
Jolted by the scolding, Liu Zhenhan sobered up.
"What's going on here!" He felt his self-control was weakening.
"I'm sorry, Helen!" Liu Zhenhan also realized he had been too impulsive.
"Actually, it was my fault." Helen straightened her priest robe, lifted her face, adorned with teardrops hung over her long eyelashes. "Us girls from the Fox Tribe have this peculiar seductive attraction towards men. I don't understand why Kampas, the War God, would bless us with such beautiful but entrancing appearance. This appearance even made us the object of scorn in the wicked human eyes. But we, the Fox Tribe girls, are extremely faithful with strong sense of family."
Listening to Helen, Liu Zhenhan was sweating coldly, realizing he had made the same mistake as those wicked men.
"I don't blame you!" Helen leaned against Liu Zhenhan's chest, crying softly. "In the Orc race, different species falling in love isn't common, but I don't know why, Richard, I still fell in love with you."
"It's my fault! How can it be your fault for being charming?" Liu Zhenhan seriously said: "Helen, my girl, I swear to you ... no ... I swear to the supreme War God Kampas, I will protect you for the rest of my life! It's my humble wicked thoughts that defiled your purity."
Helen, touched by his words, began to cry again.
Despite his beautiful words, Liu Zhenhan was thinking that having such a beautiful and enchanting wife at home, he would have to be more vigilant.
"How are we supposed to go down there?" Having calmed her emotions, Helen asked a practical question. The volcano's crater below them was over twenty meters high and steep cliffs covered with slippery moss surrounded the area with no gentle slope in sight for several miles.
"What's the big deal, watch me." Liu Zhenhan laughed.
The cliff here was only about a dozen meters high. When Richard was training before, he had even used a stopwatch to time himself while descending cliffs hundreds of meters high.
He found several tree vines and tied them together. Richard tied one end of the vines to a coconut tree at the edge of the volcanic crater. He tugged at it a few times with his hand, felt that it was quite sturdy, and then tore a few strips of white cloth from his robe to wrap his hands tightly. He even patted some dirt onto his hands and rubbed them together.
"Be careful!" Helen's face was filled with worry. The generally weak physical constitution of those who participated in the Altar Sacrificial Ceremony made her terribly worried.
"Don't worry!" Richard pondered for a moment, then said, "You start making several long vines from the top that can reach the trees below the volcanic crater. Prepare about twenty or thirty of them. Tie one end to the coconut tree and throw the vine down again. Once I've cut down the bamboo, I'll tie them to the vines. You don't need to do anything else. When I come up, we will haul up the bamboo together."
"I still don't feel at ease. Let's go back," Helen clasped the corner of Richard's clothes, "We can use the coconut tree to make a raft."
"The coconut tree is too heavy, we can't drag it." Richard smiled and squeezed Helen's shoulder.
"I'm worried about you!" Helen's eyes reddened, "If anything unexpected happens to you, I'll jump down to accompany you."
"No, no, no!" Richard was moved, but he also felt somewhat scared, "I'll be tied to the vines when I go down, it's not so easy to fall to death!"
"But what if the vine breaks?" Helen was still uneasy.
"I've tested it, this vine is very sturdy!" Richard thought for a moment, then took out that sock from his pocket, cut a long strip off it with a knife. In this strange world, Richard and his past memories could only be understood by this sock.
There are many bloodstains of varying degrees on the cotton-made sock. Though Helen had washed it thoroughly, the bloodstains could not be cleaned off.
Richard gathered Helen's beautiful red curly hair and carefully tied the strip cut from the sock for her.
"Helen, this is the only thing that truly belongs to me in the world, and now I give it to you, the only one." Richard said solemnly with deep affection.
Helen could no longer control her tears, she threw herself into Richard, crying like rain.
Guoguo also jumped from Richard's head onto his arm, staring at the sock in Richard's hand with wide eyes.
"Heh heh..." Richard almost forgot about this little creature. He cut off another strip and tied it around Guoguo's neck. Guoguo was immensely pleased and gently fondled the blood-red sock with its tiny paws.
"I'm off now." Richard put Guoguo down on the ground and waved his arm bravely.
Guoguo "zoomed" back onto him, climbed onto his forehead in a few swift movements. It firmly gripped Richard's hair, causing him to grimace in pain.
"Let's go!" Richard pinched Guoguo's chubby butt, grabbed the tree vine, and leapt from the edge of the cliff, scaring Helen. Her face turned pale. She ran to the edge of the volcanic crater and looked down. Richard was holding onto the vine, jumping down the slippery cliff one leap after another. His feet merely pushed against the cliff once, his entire body "whooshed" downward rapidly. When the vines sprung back towards the cliff, he had already clenched the tree vine, stopping his descent, then pushed off again.
The sight made Helen's head spin. She wanted to close her eyes but didn't want to look away from her beloved Richard. Every descent of Richard's made her heart race, and each time he swung back towards the cliff, she exhaled in relief.
Helen felt as if she had a war drum used by a War Shaman pounding in her chest, causing her chest to tingle.
Only when she saw Richard safely reaching the ground did Helen realize she had sweaty back.
"You be careful!" Helen stood up and shouted towards Valley.
Richard waved at her and made a silly face.
Helen started singing her only war song, the first half of the Spirit Communication War Song, which could soothe the soul. Listening to the crisp and pleasing song, Richard felt an indescribable force surging within him.
High up on the cliff, Helen's red hair band fluttered non-stop in the strong seafaring wind, like a clump of love's flame.
