"Hehe..." Liu Zhenhan smirked without showing his teeth.
"How did you come to know these secrets then?" Old Liu couldn't help but be a little perplexed.
"I am an Altar Sacrificial Ceremony in the Bimon Kingdom, an honor that embodies wisdom. Bathed in the Thorny Glory of Kampas, the War God, I serve as a faithful servant to the highest deity revered by the Orcs - the Kampas War God. Many lesser-known secrets are passed down orally within our order."
"I see." Liu Zhenhan was reminded of the white-capped nuns among the foreign missionaries.
"I belong to the Fox Tribe of the Fawkes Family, one of the five noble families in the Bimon Kingdom. Our place among the ruling elites is due to another exceptional trait bestowed by the Kampas War God - wisdom. The Fox Tribe is widely recognized as having a cunning intelligence that rivals humans. Most Bimon Beastmen possess only physical strength, and wisdom is something they can only aspire to attain." Helen continued.
"I've been wondering, what would a pig evolved into a person be like." Liu Zhenhan also laughed.
"Bimon Beastmen consider fighting a great honor. They dare face their strongest enemies, charging at them in the name of Kampas. They, however, aren't capable of handling complex accounting or census efforts, nor the negotiations involved in trade agreements. We Fox people excel in these areas. We possess a natural intuition for numbers and money, combined with exceptional eloquence and intelligence, making us the best internal affairs officials among Bimon Beastmen." Helen faintly smiled before continuing.
"Good steel should be used on the blade's edge." Liu Zhenhan casually flattered.
"Another benefit of the War God's wisdom to the Fox Tribe is the privilege of becoming an Altar Sacrificial Ceremony. The Ceremony members serve as Kampas' servants, leading the Beast Race towards a brighter future through the War God's summoning. The mysterious battle songs they possess can bestow enhancements like 'Blessing', 'Bloodlust', 'Berserk', and 'Stone Skin' to all Bimon soldiers, making them indispensable on the battlefield. Additionally, the Altar Sacrificial Ceremony is the only force in the Bimon army that can barely compete with human mages. The summoning technique we were gifted by Kampas allows each of us to own a Magical Beast as a pet. Though not necessarily superior to accomplished human mages, our beasts are excellent for covering escapes. Furthermore, the battle songs of the Shaman can disrupt a mage's chanting, interfering with their spellcasting."
"Mage? Magical Beast?" Liu Zhenhan was confused again.
"Your Guoguo is a Magical Beast. It is naturally capable of using Air System freezing magic. Richard, don't tell me you don't even..." Helen looked at him as though he was an idiot.
"What?" Liu Zhenhan's mouth gape open, and he couldn't close it for a while.
"Take a look at the wolf skin you are wearing. Is that not from a Magical Beast?" Liu Zhenhan quickly pointed to the blue wolf skin on Helen's body and asked.
"This is from the fierce Wind System Magic Wolf, capable of spraying sharp wind blades. It seems like the adult Magic Wolf was in great health. Oh, I forgot to ask, how did you fight a Wind System Magic Wolf? Is this injury from the fight with the wolf?" Helen asked while touching Liu Zhenhan's pitiful nose.
"A few days ago, I encountered a rabbit that injured my arm with a Water Arrow. Is that a Magical Beast?" Liu Zhenhan dodged Helen's hand.
"That's a Water Arrow Magic Rabbit. Generally, Magic Rabbits won't attack first. They are herbivores, with a mild nature. Similar to your Guoguo, although they can use magic attacks, they do so sparingly. Overusing their abilities could lead to strenuous body conditions that might take their lives. Magic Wolves are different; they are aggressive attacking Magical Beasts, capable of using magic limitless times as long as their body allows."
"Damn!" Liu Zhenhan shouted out loud. "No wonder! I was wondering why Guoguo doesn't like to use the frosty aura that much. So it's like a bee, the more it uses its stinger, the closer it is to death!"
"That's an apt analogy." Helen laughed.
"So is my Guoguo powerful or not? Does it rank highly among Magical Beasts?" Liu Zhenhan asked anxiously.
"GuoGuo's full name is the 'Frost Snow Pichu Beast'. In my hometown, the South Cross Star Forest teeming with Magical Beasts, a 'Frost Snow Pichu Beast' is only an ordinary omnivorous Magical Beast. From the perspective of the Altar Sacrificial Ceremony, our Magic Pets should be fit for battle. The owner of this blue wolf skin fits the standard of a battle pet."
"So does that mean it's not up to par?" Liu Zhenhan felt a little disappointed but refused to accept it. "This Magic Wolf was defeated by Guoguo. How can you say Guoguo is not good?"
GuoGuo has huddled into Liu Zhenhan's arms, her big ears perked up, round eyes staring intensely at Helen.
"To be precise, 'Frost Snow Pichu Beast' have a renowned nickname, 'Beast of Misfortune.' They are intelligent and like to be close to larger creatures. However, the creatures they choose to befriend, without exception, tend to become extremely unlucky." Helen said with mischief, glancing at Guoguo in Liu Zhenhan's arms. Guoguo quickly buried her head into Liu Zhenhan's chest, shivering with her big ears drooping down.
"Let me be unlucky then!" Liu Zhenhan said, his heart aching, "since I came to this shithole, I've been having bad luck even before meeting her. Might as well consider more bad luck as a good omen!"
"This is what I like about you!" said Helen as she too dived into his arms.
"So, what about the human mages you mentioned? Are they like these terrible Magical Beasts, spewing things like Wind Blades and Frost Spheres? Are your altar sacrificial ceremonies the same as theirs?"
"Humans are the wisest race. Their mages can indeed use magic like the Magical Beasts, releasing spells. However, they have to chant spells, sprinkle some specially made incense and read from scrolls to summon the corresponding magic."
"Sounds complicated?"
"Hehe..." Helen, the little fox, teasingly blinked her eyes, "However, their magic is much more powerful than these Magical Beasts!"
"How powerful?" Liu Zhenhan was missing his confiscated M20 gun.
"Among human mages, the most powerful ones could summon meteors from the sky, turning a city into a sea of fire, transform a cold stone into an immensely strong giant. We usually call that magic a 'Forbidden Curse.'"
"Gulp..." Liu Zhenhan swallowed hard. He was reminded of the bomb that landed on an enemy's head.
"However, such mages are extremely rare among humans, maybe only a few emerge in a thousand years." Helen's charming face was shrouded in a thin layer of sadness, "If only there were more human mages, perhaps the Beamon Beastmen Kingdom from a thousand years ago would no longer exist..."
"Are you saying, during the Heigar Battle a thousand years ago, your Beastmen suffered hugely from those mages?" Liu Zhenhan asked.
"In the Battle of Heigar, a thousand years ago, the human mages unleashed a power so devastating it shook even the strongest Beastman. The rain of fire from above and the flying wind blades shattered the Beastmen's pride." Helen was immersed in her painful past memories.
"Just when every Beastman was panicking, was desperate, and ready to meet death, the brave Fox Tribe Shaman stepped forward. With their frail lives and dignity, they won a ray of hope for their compatriots." Helen said, "I forgot to mention one thing, not all can become a Sacred Altar Sacrifice. Of all Beast Races, most cannot comprehend the intent of the god of war and communicate due to their inadequate intellectual flexibility, thus they cannot become a Shaman. Even the Fox People, who possess the wisdom of the War God Kampas and are known to be the largest population of the mysterious Sacred Altar Sacrifice, the production rate of Shamans is actually only one in a thousand. That is to say, amongst a thousand Fox People, only one can become a supreme Sacred Altar Sacrifice."
