With a cracking sound, Liu Zhenhan's punch firmly landed on the giant wolf's nasal bone. Before the wolf could react, a surge of pain emerged from its belly, where Liu Zhenhan's knee had smashed into.
Liu Zhenhan shot out his right fist, while his left one simultaneously landed another punch on the wolf's half-opened muzzle. He'd be a fool to let this beast launch another wind blade, it was essentially like sitting ducks waiting to be shot. But Liu Zhenhan was anything but a fool. He was a killing machine, unmatched in his one-move "Black Tiger Heart Pluck".
The giant wolf let out a whimper, hurriedly retreating backwards.
Liu Zhenhan's body weakened. He wanted to follow through, but he was spent, utterly drained of strength. He could only stand and watch as the giant wolf retreated. Gasping heavily, his thoughts turned to Guoguo. Thankfully, her weight was still resting on his head, her little claws causing his scalp to tingle.
With a stomp of his foot, the Bone Spear flew back into Liu Zhenhan's grasp. The two powerful punches and a kick he'd just landed didn't seem to have killed the wolf, and his chances to launch another sneak attack were dwindling. Liu Zhenhan realized that his only option was to stand and fight.
His nose began to bleed again. Liu Zhenhan didn't dare to wipe it off. The wolf in front of him had far exceeded human imagination. At that moment, Liu Zhenhan desperately wished for a machine gun. If not, even an automatic rifle would suffice.
The giant wolf stared at Liu Zhenhan, who retorted by glaring right back. Like cockfighting birds, man and beast locked eyes. The wolf opened its mouth and Liu Zhenhan unconsciously swung his Bone Spear. But nothing happened. Looking back at the wolf, he noticed a trickle of blood spilling down from the corner of its mouth, and a sharp tooth lay on the ground.
"Damn, at least those punches did something." Liu Zhenhan felt a spark of hope.
The giant wolf stormed back, its venomous gaze locked onto Liu Zhenhan. With every step back, it retreated a bit slower than before. Although it limped slightly, its massive body remained steady and overpowering.
Liu Zhenhan's heart sank.
This creature was showing signs of an unsual intelligence; it knew how to exploit its own strengths and avoid weaknesses. Liu Zhenhan had a sinking feeling. How would he cope if the wolf kept unrelentingly firing those wind blades?
Sure enough, the giant wolf halted twenty steps away. Opening its massive jaws, another wind blade flew in Liu Zhenhan's direction. He swung the Bone Spear to block it and did a roll, only to realize that a large portion of the Bone Spear had been shaved off. Now he was left holding what felt more like a Bone Dagger.
"What kind of power is this? Is it going berserk?" Liu Zhenhan let out a bitter smile as he looked at the "Bone Dagger" in his hand.
Before he could think further, the giant wolf lunged forward. Liu Zhenhan didn't think twice before throwing his "Bone Dagger". As it collided with the wind blade, both fell to the ground, the force of the wind blade noticeably weaker than before.
The giant wolf was exceedingly clever. The wind blade was not its strongest move. With the wind blades acting as a distraction, its lumbering body lunged forward, closing the distance just right to launch a perfect strike. This was its ultimate secret move.
The exposed fangs of the airborne giant wolf glowed menacingly. The phosphorous flicker in its eyes had turned a ruthless blood-red. A fresh fracture lay in the center of its canines in the wide-opened jaw. Its sharp claws shimmered with an eerie blue light.
In a swift leap, the giant wolf launched a devastating strike, effectively blocking Liu Zhenhan's all escape routes. Flee? Who could outrun a wolf? Fight? How could he withstand such a earth-shattering beatdown?
His thoughts turned to his brother, then to his mother.
Even though he had gone through the cycle of life and death once, Liu Zhenhan's eyes still welled up.
"You beast, feel the wrath of your grandpa!!" In the midst of Liu Zhenhan's enraged bellowing, he knew his odds were slim. But he was determined to try. He was resolved to choke this perverse and unreasonable wolf using a tree vine!
Liu Zhenhan was never the kind to choose self-destruction.
