Chereads / Secret Tycoon: The Rise of The Ordinary / Chapter 13 - Complete Domination

Chapter 13 - Complete Domination

Gerard was like a demon who jumped into the sky. His opponent was scared out of his wits when a face appeared on his monitor.

Banzrant is a first-person game, just like horror games. Jump scares are also scary in this game.

His opponent nearly went off to see the God of Light very early on.

Banzrant adheres to the concept of real life, and you can parry attacks you receive.

Gerard used this function to immobilize his opponent; with every strike he made, his opponent couldn't move.

Up until the tank's health had been obliterated, he couldn't move. He stayed motionless on the ground.

After a while, a notification arrived saying:

"You have won the round!"

In this instance, some players rose from their seats. Now there were just a total of four players left to compete in the tournament.

The players who had lost were asked to leave the room so as not to distract the other players, but they didn't lose their right to watch the game.

The player who lost against Gerard was the most curious one. He was not a professional, but he still has plenty of experience when compared to most of the players. In all of his gaming experiences, especially in Banzrant, he never had a duel or seen a duel where the opponent was rendered useless, except for one person, the current number one player in Banzrant, Kiel.

He sat in the lobby and watched the television on the wall, which would display the next fight.

Gerard's screen had already displayed his opponent, and the fight started.

His opponent was not like his previous one; this guy is a famous person from the Banzrant community. Most people knew him; he is a professional gamer for a certain esports team, though they do not have a high ranking.

After all is said and done, a professional is still a professional, so most people are not rooting for Gerard. They don't know who the f**k Gerard is, and even Gerard's earlier opponent isn't sure who will win between the two.

Gerard was cautious of his opponent; he never once thought of being too overconfident with his max-level skill. Even gods might die when they make a terrible mistake. His second reason is that it is a sign of respect, a respect that he didn't get with his friend and that Chris also didn't get with his friend.

While Gerard was being proactive and cautious, his opponent, however, didn't care at all. After a few seconds of waiting, his opponent couldn't wait any longer and dashed out toward him.

His opponent, Coconut Josh, has a rather unusual getup. He has a staff equipped in one hand while the other hand is equipped with a dagger.

It was rather an interesting choice of weaponry: a magic staff for long-range attacks and a dagger for when Gerard gets close.

With Coconut Josh dashing forward, it was very clear that he would be attacking at close range. Gerard didn't do anything in response and waited until Coconut Josh was within his reach.

At this time, Coconut Josh raised his staff and proceeded to cast a fire-type spell.

Kaboom. A thunderous sound echoed, and dust and smoke filled the arena.

His opponent was wondering where he had gone and instinctively looked back; CoconutJosh saw a rapier fall to the ground. His first thought was to prepare to dodge any attack that had to come, but after a few seconds, his eyes widened as he looked up in the sky.

CoconutJosh didn't know how to react as he saw Gerard falling to the ground; there was almost no time to prepare.

He couldn't believe he fell for it but also wondered how Gerard could jump so far.

a few minutes before this.

Coconut Josh had just started to run. At first glance, most players would see that he would be using his dagger. People instinctively think like this since beginners wouldn't be able to tell the distance properly and might even kill themselves.

The difference is that Coconut Josh is an experienced and professional player; he would not make such a stupid mistake.

Well, Gerard knew from the start that Coconut Josh wouldn't use his dagger. Banzrant was made to be realistic, as even muscle contraction can be seen at a certain distance, though nothing can be said if the computer they are using is a trash one that couldn't handle this kind of resolution.

It was evident here in this case that using the staff uses much more energy than a dagger, when Gerard saw that the staff was moving slightly, he focused his eyes on it. Gerard even predicted the first spell that Coconut Josh would use; something basic but destructive, which coincides with the latter's personality of being a brazen person.

Seeing that Cocnut Josh actually put forth a fire-type spell, he was glad. Since this incorporated basic laws of fiction, the fire would then create dust everywhere; seeing the size of the fireball, the smoke wouldn't be small at all.

Gerard jumped when the spell hit the ground, and midair he let go of his rapier to distract the enemy, which was Coconut Josh. He went with a disrespectful finish; in a game full of magic and weapons, what's more disrespectful is being finished by physical assault of the body.

at the current time.

Gerard landed on Coconut Josh's face with a knee. After that, he broke his chin, which would then temporarily paralyze him before it fully recovered. The rest was history, as Gerard had won his second match and advanced to the next round.

Outside.

There was an uproar, Coconut Josh had been the favorite to win not just this game but the whole tournament. Now, the audience was sure that Gerard would now win the rest of the game.

How could they believe otherwise? It was a complete domination. They might not know how Gerard calculated all of his steps, but nonetheless, it was impeccable. They were witnessing a future professional player being born before he entered the professional league.

Gerard's last opponent was also speechless; he could only think, "What a monster, he can do that?"

If Gerard hears what they all think of him, he will just laugh. Gaming is just a pit stop; he would not reach his desired fame with just this.

As a tycoon, he already had money in his pocket—around 90 million dollars. What he aspires to now is a fame like no other, a fame where all the people in the world know him. A place where hierarchy, status, and the like are not included. All who are alive and have already formed a thought are his audience, his fans. He wants a fame that his fans and enemies respect, an unquestionable reach in the entertainment industry.

It had only been a day since he gained his powers, but he had already infiltrated two industries. It was only a matter of time before his dream was finally realized—maybe months or years from now, who knows?

The final round was now about to begin, and the players who lost went outside to watch.

As the bystanders saw the fallen pro player, they couldn't help but stay silent. They didn't want to offend someone; it was true that Coconut Josh lost, but nonetheless, they had also lost themselves. There was no need to kick the hornet; it was basic etiquette that they did not wish to abandon.

Coconut Josh, seeing the unpleasant and awkward air inside the room, decided to break the ice.

"I would not voice out any complaints or even excuses; I lost fair and square; I admit defeat; he was an awesome player."

"Is he a pro player?" someone in the crowd asked.

"I don't know; I haven't faced anything like that. It's like the old saying that in front of an overwhelming power, all tricks are useless; we all wait to die?"

"Isn't that a bit overrated? Sure, it was a very close match, but you still had a chance, no?" the same person asked.

This time, Gerard's first opponent spoke, "I can agree to what he is saying, I felt that too when I fought him. It was like, every move has been planned. Every action has been analyze. His mechanical skill is at its peak; all his action is based on logical reasoning, it's like…"

"We are at the palm of his hands dancing; what a fearsome talent; monstrous, in other words. His eyes must be special." Coconut Josh interjected.

At this time, the owner of the shop joined the conversation about Gerard, saying, "He's either a pro concealing his identity or really just some irregular new player."

"How do you say that he's a new player? It can't be with those moves. Are those the skills of a newbie?" The man defeated first by Gerard was unconvinced.

"We have a pro here who can join me in saying a person can hide his or her identity, but their playstyle can't be altered quickly. This event was made by me just a couple of hours ago, hell no that he would be able to change his playstyle in that short amount of time," the owner explained.

"Who in the Banzrant community or even in the whole gaming industry can do that? That's plain nuts!" The owner continued.
