Inside a white room, a white-haired man could be seen laying on a bed plugged into a vital's machine which was beeping at a constant pace.
Kol's eyes slowly fluttered open at the beeping noise until his eye's widened.
He immediately got up and coldly looked around him.
'Am I in an enemy base?-'
His thoughts were cut off as he suddenly remembered everything that happened.
'I see, so the Blue Lion's Guild decided to show up.'
He looked around in a white infirmary gown and noticed he was in some sort of infirmary in bed, connected to an IV that seemed to be hydrating him.
"Hmm?" He looked down at his hands and realized he was handcuffed.
He tried to break them off but they seemed to be anti-magic cuffs, so they completely restricted his use of mana.
"My shoulder is healed? It seems a healing mage fixed it." He realized his right shoulder felt completely fine and noticed there were no wounds on it.
"Might as well relax, pretty much nothing I can do." He muttered as he disinterestedly looked at the cuffs before flopping back into bed.
As soon as he flopped back into bed a man suddenly entered through the wooden door.
The man had black hair with glasses and was wearing the traditional military outfit of the Kyros Empire.
He walked across the room and sat down on a wooden chair, not even glancing up at Kol as he read a clipboard.
"So your Kol Napoleon the bastard son of the great Commander, you're an E-Ranked Hunter with the ability of Hydrokinesis. But you lack the mana to truly demonstrate such a versatile ability. You're the epitome of a waste of oxygen."
"At best you can control or create a small amount of water but it wouldn't even be lethal, so it's practically useless." The man adjusted his glasses as he looked up at Jack with a frown.
"Did I ask?" Kol muttered while rolling his eyes.
"Did you say something?" The man narrowed his eyes at Kol.
"I asked who might you be?" Kol questioned with a smile as his brow twitched in annoyance.
"I'm Sergeant Hans Jurgen, I'm a part of the intelligence unit of the Kyros Empire military." Hans introduced himself, ignoring Kol's attitude.
"Yeah, so why I am handcuffed?" Kol nodded and questioned as he pulled on the cuffs on his wrists.
"Did no one tell you?" Han's sighed.
"What?" Kol raised his brow confusedly.
"You're being charged for desertion, you were seen fleeing from the battlefield without being told to." Han's explained.
Kol simply narrowed his eyes at such information.
"Did such bullshit come from your ass?" Kol scoffed.
"If I remember right, desertion is that act of leaving without permission and with the intention of not coming back. And to top it off, my superior was the one who ordered us to retreat."
"Do you have such evidence? Witnesses maybe?" Han's questioned calmly, not bothered by Kol's attitude.
"You clearly saw the aftermath, do you think there were survivors?" Kol furrowed his brows.
"Well if you have no evidence, you will automatically be charged as guilty." Han's replied while adjusting his glasses upwards.
At that statement, Kol silently stared at Han's as if he was pondering something.
"Who put you up to this?" Kol suddenly questioned, while coldly looking at Han's.
"What are you talking abou-"
"Was it one of my father's enemies? Is this some sort of revenge plan against my father?"
Kol cut off Han's before he could speak.
"Well sucks for you but that piece of shit does not care about me! He threw me away once he realized I was a bastard!" Kol slightly raised his voice as his frown deepened.
Han's stayed silent.
"By your reaction was I wrong?" Kol suddenly calmed down, as if he was just acting earlier.
"I thought if I acted angry you would show something. Hmm if it's not one of his enemies, is it my father himself?"
Han's eyes slightly dilated at his last words which didn't go unnoticed by Kol.
"I see, so he believes it's time to kill me. What took him so long to decide?" Kol chuckled.
"Your punishment will be death by being thrown over the Outer Wall." Han's just continued explaining with a cold expression.
"So it's like that? As expected of a kingdom that is ruled by the military. Completely ruthless." Kol remarked nonchalantly.
"How can you act so nonchalant about your death?" Han's suddenly questioned with a frown.
"Death comes for us all eventually, might as well be open-minded to it." Kol shrugged.
"Don't you have something you wanna live for?" Han's looked at Kol with furrowed brows.
"Maybe, maybe not." Kol simply replied.
"I might be open-minded about it, but that doesn't mean I'm just gonna accept death." Kol added with a smirk.
Han's nodded in understanding while looking at the white-haired youth who seemed to be a few years younger than him, yet has the eyes of a seasoned soldier.
While he himself has never been to the battlefield and has never left his kingdom's walls.
Han's started to question the system his life was based on.
Why does such a young man have to fight in war?
Why does he have to be killed because of someone else's feelings?
He frowned.
'Orders are orders Han, if you even try and help him, they'll immediately go for your family. Your family is worth more than one kid.'
'But would my family be proud of such a choice?' Han's shook his head inwardly as he focused on Kol who was just curiously looking at him.
"Don't feel too bad, we all have our situations." Kol nodded in understanding.
Han's was about to reply when Kol suddenly spoke again.
"But that doesn't change anything for me, I'll still get punished, so if I get my hands on you, your fucked." Kol sarcastically smiled.
Han's cleared his throat and stood up, as he walked toward the wooden door.
"I'll come back tomorrow at 0700 in the morning."
Once he finished speaking, he was already out with the door closed behind him.
"I was forced to fight for my country and then thrown away by them. Well, life could have been worse." Kol relaxed on the bed and stared at the ceiling.
"Hmm?"
He noticed a slight shine on the ground beside his bed, narrowing his eyes, he noticed it was a key!
"What a shifty bastard." Kol chuckled as he stretched his right foot toward the key.
"Did he pity me? That guy is a scholar who doesn't even have magic and can't do shit, but he felt bad for me? Wow, I have truly fallen." Kol helplessly shook his head as he brought the key up to his hand with his foot.
Click!
Unlocking both of his hands, he rubs his wrists and hops out of bed.
"Much better."
Walking toward the door and opening it, he slowly peeks out, looking left, and right, he noticed the hallways were clear.
Walking out, he went down the corridor to his left until seeing a T-pathway, he slowly crept out and looked left and right, and he noticed that each side of the hallway was being guarded by a two-man rotation.
There were 4 in total, they had the Kark98 mounted on their shoulders as they held their position.
'Most likely they have shifts, so all I have to do is wait for that specific moment and get out.' He made sure not to be seen, as he continuously would take a glance, and making sure no one snuck up behind him.
And just like that, a few hours passed until suddenly one of the duo of soldiers started to walk away, leaving him with one duo of soldiers.
'Judging by their aura, their probably D-Rank, maybe if it was one, I could sneak up on them but two would be impossible. I need to finish this fast before the other duo gets replaced.'
Kol thought of something and quickly ran back to his room and picked up both of the handcuffs from his room.
Opening his door, he threw the heavy handcuffs onto the ground in front of it while using mana, in order for it to enhance its sound.
Thud!
A loud thud resounded in the hallway, alerting the soldiers.
He noticed the ground was slightly cratered where he threw it but that was far from the full strength of his E-Ranked mana, he just didn't wanna waste his mana needlessly.
He quickly hid back into his room, calmly waiting against the door until the soldiers get close enough.
One of the soldiers decided to investigate and walked down the hallway, taking a right, he noticed something shiny on the ground down the corridor.
'A handcuff? Why is their a crater?-'
His thoughts were cut off as a kick landed directly on his jaw.
Bam!
"To think I had to enhance my kick to its utmost limits with mana just to take down one D-Ranked guard." Kol sighed slightly wearily.
Taking the gun from the guard, he immediately ran down the hallway from where the guard came from.
He stopped at the corner and aimed his weapon directly at where the second guard would come from and waited patiently until he would investigate his partner's disappearance.
"Yo Bobby! What's going on?-"
The guard was about to question what happen until suddenly a barrel was poking his thigh.
Bang!
"Argh!-"
The guard collapsed as he grunted in pain, holding his leg with a strained face.
"Stop whining. I didn't shoot anything vital, you'll be fine in a few days." Kol smirked as he brought the butt of his gun down.
"Wait-"
Bam!
Before the guard could even defend himself, Kol brought his gun down, knocking out the guard.
"Whew." Wiping the imaginary sweat off his forehead, Kol ventures out to find the exit.
