Chapter 1 - Doomed

Narrator-

The sun's rays pierced the thick curtains and woke the man up in the early morning. The assortment of high-end furnishings in the room contributed to its overall extravagant rating.

There was a spacious mirror on one wall and a large wardrobe off to one side. The majority of the bedroom was devoted to the wardrobe. Among the various items included were shoes, clothes from the 18th century, scarves, and hats.

The walls were papered in an orangy-red colour. Above, a massive diamond-studded chandelier hung. The bed has a plush, gold-quilted mattress.

One might gather from these details that the room's owner must be rather affluent.

Sunlight fell on the face of the man lying in bed. The man was strikingly handsome, with a strong chin, full lips, a broad forehead, bright eyes, and a direct nose.

Because of his striking appearance, all eyes were fixed on him.

Just the man opened his eyes at this time, and they were as deep blue as the ocean that engulfed everybody who gazed into it. His irises were gleaming. When he looked up at the ceiling, deep in thought. Those once bright and sparkling eyes had become dark and abysmal, betraying the man's overwhelming anguish.

No one could have predicted what was going on in this man's mind, and no one would have guessed that the spirit he harbored was a woman.

A woman, indeed.

POV

While resting on the spacious bed, my mind wandered aimlessly. How I ended up in this room was beyond my comprehension.

It all happened so quickly that I have no idea what it means.

What happened made sense to me as I recalled it, but you wouldn't understand.

Before I go on, I want to know if you have ever experienced bleeding. Have you ever experienced death? And...

Do you know what it's like to be a man after spending your entire life as a woman?

It is doable, albeit it does sound strange at first. If the fictional transmigration that actually happened to me in real life is possible, then so can my own transformation into a male.

Let's go back to the beginning of this tale, when I was a middle-class woman lying in a nice room because I know you're dying to know how I went from being a woman to being a male.

Past

When I got off work, it was a normal day. When I re-stowed my lunch container in the bag I bring with me every day, I logged out of my computer.

I rode the lift to the office floor and looked around to make sure no one was still there. Even though I knew nobody would be there because it was so late.

If I hadn't had to finish my presentation by tomorrow's major meeting, I probably wouldn't have stayed so late. No longer can you assume that I am a slacker who will fail to finish my assignment on time.

Due to pressure from above, the deadline was cut short, but I'm okay because I drove myself there.

Seeing my red Audi in the parking lot, I walked down there. This car was popular among the upper middle class, individuals who did not fall into either the affluent or poor categories.

I got in my car, turned the key, and before I knew it, I was driving away. With the window down and the wind blowing over my hair, I realised how much I enjoy driving.

The office was in a somewhat urban area, which is where most businesses are located, and my home was quite a way

away.

Sorry, I didn't say anything about myself earlier; my name is Bai Ling. As for me, I'm based out of Shanghai. While I was driving up to the entrance of my flat building, a total stranger suddenly appeared in my path. In a panic, I screamed and slammed on the brakes.

The man was already standing outside my door, revolver drawn, before I even had a chance to question him. I stared at her with wide, pained eyes.

The man's eyes and forehead were concealed by a mask. The man was dressed normally in trousers and a shirt.

Seeing the rifle in his palm rendered me speechless with fear. His voice was harsh as he said.

Just, "Leave the car".

"Wait...no...I-I can give you money if you want," I shook my head.

I got so afraid I almost passed out, then I reached into my wallet and pulled out some cash.

He continued to talk over me: "You come out or I come in?"

I was so frightened that I wanted to be angry at the world. Like the heroines in books, I regret not having trained in martial arts.

My words, "Wait! I will coming," were hardly audible over the background noise.

My legs felt like jelly as I glanced at the man who had hurried into my car and tried to open the door while he pulled it open in a hurry.

I mustered all my resolve and asked, "I don't have anything, I'm not rich, please let me go."

The man was actually pleaded with.

The man searched my car thoroughly without giving me so much as a sideways glance. I waited calmly so that I could ensure my own safety.

The man jumped out of the car and aimed the gun at me before I could even process how I had been saved. I started to say, "Please let me go, you can keep my car, and I'm sincerely sorry for whatever happened to you," but I was too terrified to get the words out. "I am literally poor and don't have anything valuable even my org and are not the best!"

The man gave me an unblinking look of displeasure before asking, "Where is it?"

My panicked question was, "Where is what?"

The documents, he replied.

I couldn't make any sense of what this man was saying. Which paper are you referring to? Where in the heck are we!?

He screamed, "Stop lying and tell me, God damn woman!" as he stabbed the gun into my brain when I said, "I'm sorry, but I don't have any documents."

Tears welled up in my eyes; I had no idea what I was in these documents and where they were.

"I beg you, release me."

The man took one look at my ID and yanked it from around my neck. The ID card's strap itched my neck, so I reached up to scratch it.

After taking one look at my identification, the man yelled, "Sh*t! You are not that woman!"

Despite my confusion, I knew this individual was not out to get me. Regaining my composure, I said, "If I am not that woman so...I suppose I should depart."

The police siren cut him off before he could finish his sentence. I was relieved; perhaps I could be saved. But before I could bask in the ecstasy, the man panicked, and I knew then that things weren't going to turn out well.

An approaching police siren prompted the man to say, "Because you have seen me, I can't let you live!" with a terrified look on his face.

I realised then that I had to get away from there quickly or perish. Yikes! As he held my hand, I bit his hand and bolted.

Even though my legs were as feeble as a chicken's, I ran as fast as I could while the man yelled after me, "Come back, woman or I will shoot you!"

I ignored this because I knew I had to run or die, but it was my worst mistake.

As the gunshot rang out and a sharp ache shot through my chest. As I looked down at my shirt, I noticed a shocking red tinge above my heart. As I slowed to a walk, I realised how physically weak I felt.

As my equilibrium began to shift, I collapsed to the floor. I was left outside in the cold to die, and while I lay there in agony, I saw the man run away. I just couldn't believe that my life was ending. That was the final straw for me.

It's true that no one else really cared about me, but to me, it was. A chill ran through me as I lay in the pool of blood. The news of my untimely demise came as a shock, especially because I was just 25. Sad to say, I've never even been in a single relationship. A horrible end for a lonesome person.

People usually cry in such a situation, but I decided not to since, if I were already dead, what good would it do? This would leave me weak and vulnerable.

I despised myself for being unlike a fictional heroine. When I heard the words "Azz...zzz...host found," I knew my time had come.

No way, am I hallucinating this, right? Why else would I hear a strange noise as I lay dying? Not until it's the death itself, that is.

When I heard the same sound again, I closed my eyes, accepting death as inevitable.

"It's your transmigration system to make the male lead fall in love, and you've been found and bounded as well, dear host."

So I knew without a doubt that I was imagining why a system looked to me like something out of a book. And what makes me so special that I get to witness the fast transmigration genre firsthand? In a word, no.

As I knew I was hallucinating in my final moments of life, I decided I might as well fulfil my otaku fantasies in my sleep.

"If I am linked to you, where is my white space? Alright, system, I know I won't die right now."

After that, I was unable to hear anything or see anything, so I had no idea whether or not my brain could also see the system. I asked questions that had no potential answers because I was already convinced it was fake.

It seemed like the voice had left me for good, but then it said, "Host we are waiting for you to eventually die and become a spirit, so I can transport you to the white space, which is, of course, the space where your soul will stay when it isn't on a mission."

Before I left the system, I was stunned and unable to speak; now it was my turn. This is definitely out of the ordinary, but why do I do not appear to be hallucinating.

"Are you for real?"

Once more, I heard the uncaring voice say, "Yes, I am a very genuine host. I will start the countdown, as your soul is going to depart your body."

In a stupor, I thought, wait, what? Can this be true? Surely you're kidding me with this. Or not? What a surprise! I was sure that was the conclusion, so this unexpected development has caught me off guard.

"10...9....8"

Well, in real life I've become entangled with a system just as I'm about to meet my inevitable demise. Wow, this is funny.

"7....6....5"

My life was so routine that for once I wondered if I'd gone crazy when I realised that I'd rather be chained to a system than die.

"4....3....2"

It's unfathomable that I took my last breath and went out this way. It's funny that in the end I had to die, but at least I was chained to a machine. Whoa, that's quite a lifetime!

"...1"

As the system announced, "We are ready to go host," I shut my eyes.

As I opened my eyes and saw myself floating in space, I felt a warmth wash over my body. Despite the fact that I felt a bit lightheaded. After staring at my corpse for a while, I said, "What now, system?"

"We go."

Back outside, I stared for a moment with a smile on my face before saying, "Bye world, see you never,...go let's system."

Like I said, my confines shifted without my knowledge, and I found myself in a blank white room.

Almost every novel about travelling mentions a "white space", and here it is.

"Host, I need you to put in some information on your end."

"Alright, I said as I stared blankly into the void."

A sphere-like thing materialised in front of me, and upon closer inspection I realised it was a cat.

I fixed my eyes on it and said, "System, it is you." The programme appeared taken aback by my response.

"Oh, I've read a number of books where the the system is generally an animal and a cat."

The system gave me a blank look before saying, "Host, I have to input the details."

Frowning, I inquired, "What specifics?"

"Gender, name, abilities, and characteristics."

"Oh"

I looked at the machine in disbelief as a screen with my picture and several blanks to be filled in appeared in front of the system.

While I considered my options for the future, I stared blankly at the white wall.

My Inquiring mind wanted to know, "What kind of system are you?"

"Host, I'm a system where the supporting leads counterattack against the female lead to get the male lead," I said.

When I heard this, I was taken aback; I mean, are you sure? Aren't the male and female protagonists a perfect match?

The system gave me a puzzled look and stared at me for a while before responding, "Host you do know a lot, yes that's true but since, the world is already in disorder due to the male lead who keep on losing their minds and destroying the world, after losing the female lead, we can change the situation so the world can go back to order."

I queried the system, "So would I get a chance to go back to my world once I complete a lot of missions or are that sort of system that would take away all of my points after gaining lots?" just as it was about to finish filling in the specifics.

The screen went black and a voice said, "The system has frozen"Just as he was going to choose 'female,' his paws shook and landed on'male.'

The situation with the data is stable...

Title: Bai Ling

Male gender

Actor:supporting male lead

Condition: 70

Brain: 75

Charm: 65

Power: 70

Abilities:?

I looked at it in disbelief; what on earth could this be? Male? From when on? Fostering masculine leadership?

The system was baffled.

Incredulous and anxious, I asked.

"What happened? Why is my gender male?"

"Host...I made a mistake and selected the male gender; now you can't change it or you would have attacked the male lead in the female role."

I scowled tightly and peered intently at the system.

After a long silence, the system finally spoke: "Calm down host, because it cannot be changed we should look ahead towards the future, I...will offer you a newbie gift which would aid you and in the future and you can change your gender later it from the system shop."

I heaved a sigh and inquired, "How many points are needed for the gender change?"

There was a moment of hesitation before the system said, "Ahh not much..just....100,000 points."

"If you're serious, how many points could I expect to earn for completing a single mission?"

"The quantity of points awarded for completing a mission depends on the level of the world in question. Missions range from level E to level S, with the highest reward going to the most experienced players in the game."

"Readers?''

"Many universes are like these novels, and they are read by everyone, just like you read the novel. A high number of points would be awarded if the readers are pleased, but none would be awarded if they are not."

I was still in a fog after learning that I would be responsible for capturing all of the targets as a guy when I suddenly blacked out and passed out. What was this new existence that lay before me?
