My icy mist floated in the air as Raja landed on the edge of the now massive hole in my bedroom. Saki had woken up and looked petrified when she realised who had just blasted in.
"Maid, take her and leave!" My maid had opened the door from behind me and wasted no time getting Saki out of here.
"What a coincidence that my little peasant toy is here. I'm sure she will be delighted to know that I'm here to kill you." Raja smiled as he spoke and directly looked at Saki.
"NOO!!! PLEASE DON'T!!!" Saki screamed as she was carried out of the room. She still couldn't quite move so she was unable to break free from the maid's grasp.
"Ha, pretty ambitious for someone like you." I clenched my fist upon hearing Raja's intent, but it made it all the easier to deal with.
'If he is here to kill me, then there is no reason to hold back.' I couldn't deny that I was a little afraid of Raja. Killing someone was something I never really considered and with the stakes so high, I felt like I had no choice.
"Heh, if only you knew... you could say it runs in the family." Raja smirked, which only served to piss me off, as it was clear he was underestimating me.
"Now tell me who sent you to kill me, surely it's expensive to go against a noble family." Before things got too heated, I hoped I could get a little hint as to who sent him.
"I guess I can tell you since you are going to die. Now tell me, why do you think your parents left just before I arrived?"
For a moment, I had a feeling of disbelief, as it never occurred to me that they would hire someone to kill me. However, I've brought Saki to my own home, where there can be eyes anywhere.
'Fuck, I should have been more careful, I shouldn't have brought Saki here.' I didn't know if this was the trigger for them to finally cross that line, but I knew it was my own doing that had caused this.
"Shall we have some fun, Ly-ra~!" Raja dashed forward with his fist engulfed in flames. He tried to go for a punch to the face, but I quickly jumped back while creating an ice barrier in front of me.
'Phew, it seems like my ice is strong enough.' Steam exploded out of the ice barrier, but it still held up, which allowed me to gauge how strong he was. I still couldn't get complacent, as it might not be his best.
"Don't forget, I'm not the only one." Punching my ice barrier again, it shattered, and the steam it generated created a smoke screen. I was going to use this to my advantage, but a very strong gust of wind came from the hole in the wall.
Three more people climb in, all completely covered in black, making it almost impossible to tell them apart.
"4 against 1, isn't that a little unfair for a poor little girl like me?" My heart raced, as there was no way I could take on all of them. I would have to destroy everything around me and I didn't want to accidentally hurt Saki, who is still inside.
"I love playing dirty. Now show me that face of despair." Raja pulled out a dagger from behind his back and licked the blade. I cringed internally, but the threat was very much real.
"Tsk, your ignorance will get you killed." I tried to keep a strong front and to back it up, I conjured up 10 ice spears around me. Clicking my fingers, I shot them towards Raja and his goons, hoping they would hit.
"Pathetic." Raja scoffed and did a roundhouse kick, creating an arc of flames that lingered in the air. Right as one of the spears made contact with the flames, they all jumped back as it began to implode. I tried to shield myself with ice, but the force of the explosion pushed me back through the wall and into the hallway.
"Argh!" I felt my entire body ache in pain as I was smashed against a brick wall by the blast. But that wasn't the end of it, the floor below me began to collapse as the building started to lose its structural integrity.
'Move it, you useless fucking body.' Forcing myself to move through the pain, I tried to run through the hallway to prevent myself from falling. Luckily, Saki was nowhere to be seen so I hoped she was far away from the destruction now.
"Hehe, no running." Suddenly, a childish voice came from above and as I looked up, I saw someone clearly floating using wind magic. Right as I took another step, I felt a sudden fluctuation of mana in front of me and I instantly stopped running.
A few centimetres in front of me, a massive wind strike cut through the building. Knowing exactly what would have happened to me if I hadn't stopped, the fear of death was becoming more real.
"Aww, what a shame you didn't die~." The boy giggled as he floated ahead, which is when I felt another fluctuation below me. Moving my head back, a drill made from rock came through the floor, grazing my body and chin. Blood spewed out from my cuts, but they weren't deep enough to cause any problems… I hope.
"She is still alive, boss." Hearing a voice come from the hole below, I guessed another attack was about to come.
'Are they taking turns?' I felt like a trapped mouse, unable to fight back. I needed at least a couple of seconds to cast my ice, but I couldn't even get into a confrontation with any of them.
Before I was able to think of a way to approach this, a wave of water came crashing down the hallway ahead of me. However, this was perfect, water is probably the weakest element against me, so I could use it in my favour.
Jumping up in the air as the water was about to hit me, I reached my hand out and started to turn the water into ice. Even if it is imbued with mana, I am still able to freeze it with ease, forcing whoever is controlling the water to lose control.
The hallway was now covered in a layer of ice, allowing me to go faster by sliding across the ice instead of running.
'I need to find one of these bastards before they all come at me at once.' Right now, my fear was all of them attacking me at once, which was something I definitely couldn't handle.
Skating past one of the hallways out of the corner of my eye, I saw Saki and the maid, but there was also a third person. Sliding on my feet to change direction, I quickly backtracked and jumped off the ice to the hallway.
"Leave Saki alone!" My intuition was correct, as it was one of Raja's goons heading straight for her. The one that used wind was flying as fast as he could towards Saki. I sprinted as fast as my legs could make me, but there was no way I would reach it in time.
I couldn't take advantage of the ice path I had created, which was a complete waste of mana, but right now that didn't matter. I needed to get to Saki before they did.
"LYRA!!!" Saki screamed out as she saw me in the distance, prompting the boy to look behind him.
"I'd be careful of your surroundings~." The boy waved and stuck out his tongue right as the floor became soft. My feet sank into it like quicksand, making it impossible to move.
"What a disappointment! I thought you were much stronger than this." Footsteps echoed from behind me and by the voice, I knew it was Raja.
I gritted my teeth as I felt extremely pathetic. I had barely done anything yet I felt so defeated. I couldn't let myself be caught like this without even landing a single hit.
'What is stopping me!' I knew I was much stronger than this, but I didn't know what was compelling me to hold back. My hands were shaking like I was afraid… afraid.
'Afraid of what? These bastards are about to kill you. FUCKING MOVE!!!' Slamming my fist into the quicksand, I unleashed a massive wave of ice, encasing everything.
"Oh? Am I finally seeing something?" Raja walked closer, but in an instant, with a click of my fingers, I shattered the ground around me, breaking me free of the earth magic user. Using the pieces of ice floating around, I shot them towards Raja.
I knew it wouldn't affect them, but right now my priority is protecting Saki. Now that I had a layer of ice, I was able to ignore Raja for now and catch up to Wind Boy.
"I swear I will kill you all!" I didn't know what finally snapped within me. But being pushed into a corner allowed me to finally not care about the consequences that may come after killing them.
