Chapter 1 - Lainey Shade

The blow landed squarely on her cheek making her lose her balance as she staggered back trying to regain her balance. Spitting out the blood, she wiped her lips with the back of her hand revealing a crazy smile. That showcased her teeth tainted with the thick red bloody fluid.

Satisfied that her punch landed, she shook her shoulders provocatively ready to take her to leave. Only to be stopped as two girls jump from the standby and hold her still. But only for a few moments as she shakes them off, but the girl from before retaliates.

"I am Selena!!" She shouts as her punch lands taking large steps backward. But Lainey just stands there pissed off,

"Sluts! Harlots! Retards...!" She shouts as she stumps towards Selena but is stopped as her hand covers her mouth. Blinded by anger, she swings herself to land a punch. But the person lightly squeezes her neck between his elbow.

"Chill." He says before letting her go. She steps on her toe and curses throwing a glare at him. But the anger slowly fades as she looks at her bag down the lonely street.

"Ah!!" One of the girls from before screams as she approaches with her hand balled into a fist. But her hit does not land as Lainey swings her bag, knocking the girl off her feet and landing a few feet away from her.

"Weak! Pathetic!..." Lainey screams out as she squeezes the handle of the bag in her hand but it's cut short once more as her brother puts his hands over her mouth, pulling her out of the lonely street. Leaving the wounded girls to bicker at each other.

He let go of her as they reached the busy street.

"You're are a blockhead!" She spat gaining an amusing look from his face.

"Watch where you're going, lad!" A lady berates as she secures her goods on the table in the crowded marketplace.

"Whatever..." She retorts under her breath as she kicks a stone.

"You have to learn to control your emotions," Marshall states.

"They started first, I can't protect myself anymore?"

"You had already beaten them up, didn't you see it?" He asked trying to call her out of her delusion.

"I had taken enough of their mess, they can't just keep bullying me, should they?"

"Well, well." Marshall breathes out as he massages the bridge of his nose. "If only you can shut your mouth for once and listen."

"As I said before, I can't let people trample on me!" She half screamed frustrated bumping into a passerby.

"I wonder what explanation you will give dad." Marshall huffs angrily at her stupidity as he increases his pace.

"Dad..." She mutters under her breath as the feeling of realization rushed through her making her freeze in her steps.

...

*BAM*

His large hands hit the study table but the sound produced is soon absorbed by the countless books that braced the rows of shelves in the room.

"What did you do?" Mr. Matthew Shade says as he sprung to his feet as the two youngsters entered the room.

"Dad..." Lainey started in a shaky voice breaking the unnerving silence.

"You fought!" He angrily repeated Ashe walked around his seat. "You fought!"

"But..."

"But what Lainey?... What?" He asked but the pain eventually shows in his failing voice.

Don't you know what awaits those who are involved in fights? Are you not more daddy's little angel?"
