“What happened to me?”
“You saved us.” My master kissed my fingers, “you saved your baby and me.”
“How? What did I do?”
My memory of what occurred was fuzzy.
The more I tried to recollect what happened, the more I hit a wall.
My master rose from the bed and walked towards my dressing table.
He got the small mirror I have there and brought it to where I was.
“Brace yourself for what you are about to see,” my master slowly raised the mirror.
“I—”
The words froze in my throat when I saw the image in the mirror.
“No, that's not me! I'm not the one!” I tried to shy from the image in the mirror.
No.
That can be never me!
It's not me!
“That's you, Star,” my master said in a gentle, soothing tone as if he were afraid to spook me.
“Take that thing away! It's not me!”
My hair is not white, and neither are my eyes purple.
That can be never me!
It might be another person, but it can never be me.
“Calm down, Star. I will explain everything to you. Please—”
