John lay wide awake.
He couldn't sleep a wink last night.
He kept replaying the actions of the previous Night over and over in his heads.
Where did he go wrong?
Was it what he said or what he did that made Eva storm off in that manner?
He pushed himself to his feet.
He picked up a marker by the side of his bed and moved over to his calender and circled a date.
March 27th.
His birthday.
John decided to go all designer today. He put on a white Gucci shirt , Gucci trousers, Gucci shoes and glasses . John went to his wardrobe and Scanned all the items there. There were more than ten Rolex watches, World class sneakers, and the likes.
He picked up a a diamond encrusted Rolex , and slid it on his Wrist.
John went downstairs and saw Williams holding a plate before him. He made a pancake with a smiley face and Happy Birthday Engraved on it.
John was gladdened by this little show of affection.
At least someone cared.
He sat down to do justice to the meal and after eating it he used a white napkin to dab at the corners of his mouth.
"Happy Birthday , Master John." William said as he cleared the plates.
"Thank you , Williams." John replied and relaxed in his chair. "Did my parents leave anything for me?"
Williams shook his head. "Yes . sir Duncan said that he was going to discuss it with you when he returned." He said after hesitating.
"You don't have to cover for them Williams,. I know they didn't leave anything." John spoke sadly. "Seems they'd forgot again."
Most times neither his father nor Mother had ever been around on his Birthdays.
They usually came around the next day and brought some inappropriately Lavish gift to make him forgive them.
But he was sick of it.
He was just realizing that they had never cared. It was just a bribery so that he could show up and smile at all their stupid galas and functions.
But not anymore.
John stormed out and got in his white Lamborghini that matched his outfit and revved his engine to life.

John walked through the hallway and met Sky and Eva hanging around with Su ling at her Locker.
He tried to look at her but Instead she ignored him and continued her conversation with Sky.
John looked around but Didn't see Obi. "Where's Obi?"
"I don't know . I have been trying to reach him but its not going through, and I haven't seen him for three days." Su ling replied . "I'm getting worried."
"Don't worry , I'll call him again later to see what's up."John said to calm Su ling down as she was already frantic.
"Okay we'll meet up later at My house , Right?" Su Ling mused.
Sky , Eva and John nodded.
Su ling who was tensed before now relaxed a little bit and the bell rang.She sighed and headed off to class. Sky accompanied her till she got to hers.
Eva was about to leave too when John held her back. "Wait , I need to talk to you".
"I'm busy right now , Can I Ignore you another time?" She said sarcastically.
"Just give me five minutes. He pleaded as some girls passed by them and began whispering. John took Eva into the Gym locker and she folded her arms.
Eva sighed. "What?"
"I'm sorry about yesterday. I was drunk and I didn't mean it..."
Eva cut him short. "Just stop. I don't need your apology. I'm the one at fault for ever thinking that you could ever think past S*x and have a meaningful conversation. I was in a bad place but instead of comforting me, John, like a friend should , You decided that like any other girl you could get me into your bed." She rose her voice from its usual pitch.
"Eva why are you just so ...F*****g Difficult. A dude is trying to apologize here and you won't allow me to get a word out!" John retorted.
"Okaaay, you want to apologize wearing all Gucci designers? Like Seriously John , you look like your are going up for an auction,You Jerk!" Eva mocked.
"Alright , I give up. You're officially impossible to deal with." John blurted."You want us to be in the Friend Zone , Its fine with me!" .
"Fine !." Eva fumed and walked out but deep down, she thought "Was I too Harsh on him? " I would have tried to listened to his apology ...Maybe she was scared to own up to herself about her emotions towards him.
She had better work on that.

Obi was scrolling through his phone screen.
He was looking for any thing online that could bring on some cash so that he could help his mother out of the mortgage issue.
He had already gotten a gig at the Jackson's Garage. It was a part time job but he was on a test and trial. He had to be regular for at least two weeks before he was given a permanent post. Obi was supposed to be going in after school and was to earn $20 per hour and he was supposed to work for three hours.
Unfortunately this was interfering with his school work so sometimes he had to skip school so he could fix up cars and still maintain the pretence he was attending school in front of his mom but he hopes this doesn't affects his grades.
Most of what he's seen were, Essays , Poems and the likes . They had huge sums of money attached ranging from between $2500 - $5000. Obi was very good in Math and other science subjects but English and Literature where his worst nightmare.
He could have asked Su ling for help, because this was her domain but he didn't want her to worry because she could take any little thing and blow in way out of proportion.
Finally , Obi spotted one that suited him. It was an audition To sing for Guzman Records. It was a very popular music Studio that repped some of the latest and popular musicians like Party P , D Dawg , Bootylicious and his personal favorite, the reigning Pop Queen , Nania Gualadara.
Guzman Records needed new fresh talents for a new branch that they wanted to open and put it online that anyone that wanted to apply should record his /her music and send it to their company studio.
This gladdened Obi's heart and he took out his notebook . He had a knack for lyrics and was determined to get that Prize.
His phone rang.
He accepted the call ."What's up man?" Obi greeted.
"Its all good."John voiced over. "I didn't catch you in school today. Eva and Su ling are anxious."
"Um...I had to stay home and take care of Ada . She caught a cold and my mom had to go to work so i had to take care of her." Obi lied.
"Sorry man. We're meeting up at Su ling's House later today . Are you coming?"
"I'll make it." Obi muttered after some thought .
"Great!" John said estatically and ended the call.
Obi shoved his notebook in his satchel and set out to meet up with his friends with a spring in his step and hope in his heart.
