Everyone in the hall was staring at them as the two men stared at each other. Kahlo then bowed to the king. It was awkward, and she didn't want Kahlo to be punished because of the king's misguided possessiveness.
"You will accompany us to the south tomorrow, and you will protect Her Highness," he said, much to her relief. "But I want you to stay two meters away from her at all times," he said, clenching his teeth. She scoffed so quietly that the king and Kahlo could hear her.
"It's my honor to serve you and Her Highness , My King," Kahlo said again. "I swear on my ancestors' graves that I will protect her with my life," he declared. The king's face softened as he nodded at Kahlo, who turned and walked away. He moved to another table, where he was joined by Luke, her android driver, and two android footmen.
"How did you get to know him?" The king, still scowling, asked. She poured him a wolfsbane drink before responding.
