"I'll be out for a few days, and I want you to protect Venus," he said.

Damoen growled at what he said, his possessiveness almost crossing the line to violence. "She is my mate, and she is my responsibility. You have no business with her; go and don't come back. I will kill you if you return."

Then he punched the demon directly in the gut, satisfied when the devil let out a painful grunt.

"What in hell was that for?" the demon demanded.

"For touching my mate, for caring for her, for getting close to her, and for making her fall to your charm," he growled.

The demon laughed, "I may die, but Venus will never fall to my charm. She barely tolerates my presence because of our fate. But I tell you this Damoen of this world, you can't stop me from protecting her; it's my duty, and I am bound by my oath," he said, then disappeared.
